@MattyK I completely agree. Millwood was brought in for this singular purpose: Chew up some innings, become trade bait.
@MattyK Somehow the Mariner fans have to receive redemption for watching Olivo behind the plate these past 2 years. I can see no better way than to score on 35 passed balls against the Angels.
I worry about Saunders. This hot streak has been outstanding and boy have I enjoyed it very much.
Even if Saunders can maintain a level slightly below this, I would be more than satisfied.
@KenLeder I'm afraid you might be losing a bit of credibility. Judging a article on length instead of content is absolutely terrible analysis and just plain ridiculous.
You wouldn't judge the flavor of a delicious hamburger because it took too long to eat it.
If you find 600+ words hard to read you are probably following the wrong blog community. You won't find anything preschool short in the entire Mariners blog-o-sphere. We have a lot to say.
@murano place Thank you! And welcome to Sodo Mojo.
@maqman I have wondered this as well. The low level of talent this year certainly does allow him to overspend on some picks and still possibly stay under cap.
@KenLeder I don't see how my worries are overblown when I quite plainly stated... "Cause for concern? Certainly, but the it’s not a reason to panic. Both selections above Zunino, signed for below the recommended slot bonus..."
There is always going to be leverage for a first rounder, because no team is going to walk away without that pick.
You seem to be under some impression that I am writing this with the doom and gloom label, or perhaps that is how you interpreted it, but clearly it is not written that way. The Mariners have overspent and that does leave less money for Zunino...fact....not opinion.
Kivlehan may very well be the steal of the 2012 draft. Post coming soon.
@MattyK I agree, I just feel the organization doesn't exactly want Iwakuma around. Noesi has plenty of options left. Or he should at least, considering he has only been called up once.
@JCondreay I agree with you. If Buxton isn't available at 3, then I am more than in favor of drafting Zunino. Defensively savvy, offensively capable catchers don't grow on trees after all.
I do like Correa, but he is a very, very risky pick.
@maqman I am more okay with Zunino than most. I do like Correa a lot even if he doesn't stick at short stop. Zunino is safe, but I'm okay with safe. He isn't safe and bad, he is safe and very good. While Correa may have a higher ceiling, his risk is way higher as well.
I can't imagine if we drafted Correa and he didn't work out.
I like Correa, even if he doesn't stick at SS, he profiles well as a 3B and while the organization has some talent at 3B, they really are lacking a stud or start right now.
@maqman I saw that am have responded accordingly. It'll be interesting to see if they take action against Miller next. Umpires have had their rule of the roost for so long (22 years for instance), I'm glad MLB is making a much needed change.
@bigyaz Why do I have the feeling I'm talking to a sympathizer?
You ump little league or something? Beyond everything else it is his job to get the call right. The HP ump has no business calling a check swing a strike, he just doesn't.
