@Dink @RememberSalming ok. how could we even tell which one's the problem with this mess.  They're totally entangled.

@MLHS_Luke Yup - esp after so many rebuilding years.  The fuse is running out on the original game plan.

@mike_84 @RememberSalming @Jordan29 It's true that Burke has more faith in Reims than Nonis.  Maybe an opening.  But dealing Giordano creates a big gap in an even tighter market.

@mike_84 @RememberSalming @Jordan29 yeah, but does Burke wait to hit bottom to rebuild?

@mike_84 @RememberSalming @Jordan29 You'd have to throw in some of our D into the mix.  Gunnar or Franson (who's asset value is plummeting with each game)

6 months, 2 weeks ago on Game Recap: Game 46, Capitals 3 vs. Leafs 2

@mike_84 @RememberSalming @Jordan29 True.  But do you think a D left with Dennis Wideman would be something to build on?

@mike_84 @Jordan29 Just looking at G's numbers.  Last 5 games avg 25-26 TOI.  Workhorse.  +/-2.  Sounds like an interesting trade -- but really, why would the Flames deal their workhorse?

@wendelsfist @RememberSalming but you keep pointing to "character".  What is that?  You think Mac had no character and now he does.  Or Liles just had a personality conversion?

@mr_hanie @RememberSalming @Pent_House so, what I don't get is why not figure out strategies based on the assets you do have rather than invent some abstract thing that fails time after time.

@Pent_House @RememberSalming @mr_hanie I am just wondering if it's a label for a strategy that requires you to rely on goaltenders rather than defense.  Those or two different things.

6 months, 2 weeks ago on A formless rant on Carlyle’s Maple Leafs

@mr_hanie @RememberSalming exactly, which means forwards are always leaping out of formation to the point to block shots and create gaping holes.

@Pent_House @RememberSalming @mr_hanie hm.  I watched an awful lot of NYR games living here in NJ and watched their offense go south as a result.  I think it worked on account of the goaltending no?

@ Black Phantom they're choking because they are second guessing themselves.  After getting reamed and publicly humiliated, they can't let their developed instincts drive their play.

@mr_hanie @RememberSalming sure -- I understand (and man is it graphic).  But where did the concept come from?  I'm interested in who's made it work.

@Pent_House @RememberSalming once an opponent has figured you out, they are beating you and the ice tilts the wrong way.

@1DERYRS @RememberSalming @Alec Brownscombe I dunno.  True.  But animals respond to incentives.  RC's style punishes mistakes more than rewards risks that yield fruit.  They are playing scared to make a mistake -- so they make mistakes.  Just let the players play the fucking game they have played all their lives and the reasons why the scouts saw the talent in the first place.

@mr_hanie BTW, where did this "swarm" concept come from?

6 months, 2 weeks ago on A formless rant on Carlyle’s Maple Leafs

Reply

@Pent_House @RememberSalming for sure.  They'd be fun to watch and would drive an opponent's team crazy.  Exactly what would be so hard to coach against.  But RC is so risk averse that he's predictable.

@ingy56 @TheCanucksnaphook and that's on purpose.  Organizations manage what's said.  What we heard from McClement and Reimer yesterday is as "loud" as it's going to get -- unless they get traded and then we'll hear (maybe) what they really think.

@TheCanucksnaphook And what's Dion going to say?  Hey coach, your roster decisions suck?  Look how RC drove Grabbo, Mac, et al out of the lineup...  Coaches don't like "voice" if it's not yes sir.

Alec -- well said!

I would only add the degradation of the youth, Holland included.  The roster decisions reflect a lack of confidence in tomorrow.

A team as more difficult to watch than to play against.

Just to beat a dead horse.  Colton Orr.  Playing his worst career hockey right now on all scoring indices.  Median hits and blocks.  Up on career TOI yet lowest points per game.  C'mon.  We need to get serious.
