There will be tremendous time spent watching videos of Spurs execution by all coaching staffs this off season.

How do we know what the Spurs are willing to give? They put an offer on the table and said that they would look to match any reasonable offer. We just don't know what "reasonable" is to the Spurs.

1. Durant can't repeat the minutes he played last season. Durant will have the thought of returning to his homeland playing in the back of his mind.

2. Pop has always said (and to Steve Kerr most recently) that seeding is not the number one priority. However in NBA basketball, every inch and every half step makes a difference between winning and losing and I say good seeding falls into the same category. But good seeding must be accompanied by momentum, chemistry and health coming together at the right moment. The number of factors to take into consideration to win the championship are immense.

3. We have no clue as to what teams that are ignored by the pundits will emerge as western conference threats and contenders. I say, just sit back and watch and hope that the Spurs are in the mix.

I like the energy that Anderson is channeling against the doubters as well as that fact the he comes from a coaching family. It will be interesting to see how he comes to camp. I"m sure the Spurs have already given him a summer regimen routine and I'm hoping for a Patty Mills-like transformation without the torn rotator cuff.

The Spurs would not be the Spurs with that restriction. It's part of their make up and identity. Decisions like the recent Manu Ginobili one were correct, justified and contractual for health reasons. Off season injuries are a risk each player and franchise must take and those injuries do not always occur in international play or even basketball for that matter.

Its good to see Kawhi taking his unusual but gifted anatomy with a light heart. I recall years ago when Kareem Abdul Jabaar was being interviewed, a reporter asked "What is the air like up there?" Kareem spit on his head.

It's probably pretty simple. The promoters failed to get approval from the NBA which probably means the promoters did not sign a form to give the NBA a piece of the profits.

Don't be blinded by the sensational press who are infatuated with stars. There are plenty of teams in the infancy of a team concept. Dallas, Portland, Phoenix, Atlanta, Memphis, Boston, Toronto and Philadelphia, to name a few and Cleveland may follow suit with their new coaching philosophy.

49.6 percent from the field makes him almost interesting but what does he do on defense? Could the Spurs Summer League roster be composed entirely of forwards and point guards? I'm not complaining. I just find it interesting that the team is primarily composed of these 2 elements and Diaw, Mills, Bonner and Baynes have not yet signed.

I assume "Mexico State Lobos" is just a brain fart. I'm guessing that these wing players are practice fodder to give Kyle Anderson a defensive challenge in practice.

Of course he does but I'm not going to rank them in any special order. Each contributed to NBA history in their own way. If I was to compare him to another great coach, I would have to go with Auerbach for their team execution approach. However in many ways they are still not alike. Riley and Jackson I would say were crafty in their management of star talent. Whatever floats your boat and whatever team you like. My all time favorite is Pop but that's just me and I don't care who doesn't agree because that's who it is for me.

The Mavs did not acquire Chandler to contend against any specific team. They did so to contend against all NBA teams. Teams don't trade simply to match up against one specific team.
It doesn't work that way. No one can predict that any specific team will face another specific team in the playoffs.

The Spurs will do the same thing they usually do. They will take the best player still available regardless of what position he can play or if he is ready to play in the NBA any time soon.

Nice article Jose. All season long Diaw's name was mentioned in almost every Spurs trade scenario that outsiders could dream up. This aggravated me to no end as I saw him as Pop's unheralded essential cog in the system.

Kevin Love doesn't want to be a Spur. Where did you pull that from? Love has made it publicly clear that he wants to play in a big market. Love addresses the question of what it might take to win a championship and his light-hearted answer in jest was to join the Spurs.

Thanks for the Knicks update. (A “win” is typically worth around $1.6 million, meaning Mills produced around $8.96 million of value this season.) Leave it to New Yorkers to come up with this rediculous formula.

Why does everyone seem to think that re-inserting Ibaka is the only change that the Thunder will make? Ibaka is one aspect but more importantly they will likely change their complete guard rotation to go athletic.

You ask can Kawhi stop Durant? No nobody can. Can Kawhi mess with Durant's game to the point where he is less effective? I think so. But the 3rd and most important question is can Kawhi guard Durant for a full game without drawing 6 fouls from the refs? I have my doubts.

By April 14, the Spurs will likely be preserving the health of their wounded. Houston will likely be trying to get their rotation back on track after injuries. It's a more important game for Houston, not necessarily for winning but for getting in sync. I don't expect a classic battle.

Nice find. The Spurs have a lot of homework ahead of them. In addition, any other NBA team now has a video specifically detailing how to stop the Spurs offense. The Spurs will have to notch it up and add some new twists.

But does he have to have the ugliest, flattest hook shot in the NBA?
He is 6-11. It's not like it's going to get blocked if he puts a little arc on it to up the chances of the shot actually going down.

A perfect ending to the last west coast road trip of the regular season. Contributions came from many directions. Patty Mills had a miserable shooting night but made up for it in assists and steals, maybe his best assists and steals game of the season. Its something the Spurs didn't have last season behind Parker just like Splitter's game lately is something they didn't have behind Duncan. and Belinelli's game is something they didn't have behind Manu. Please keep annoying opposing centers Mr Baynes and stay healthy Spurs!

The Spurs have had a bad time against this team even before they began to come together. On the bright side, now that Houston is hitting on all cylinders, the Spurs coaching staff will have tapes of 20 or so games to help them crack this team if they face them in the playoffs. The game in April likely comes to late to be any kind of significant indicator.

I don't know if it was ever a "myth". It certainly was a troubling trend and the trend appears to be beginning to break down but there is more to do in proving themselves against OKC, Indiana, Houston and the newly revamped Clippers. I hope that, whatever you choose to call it, it finally goes away completely.

It's "a blessing" if you are 6 foot 2 inches to 6 foot 6 inches, are used to playing a guard position and enjoy guarding and shooting over the likes of Lebron James, Kevin Durant and Paul George.

Of course the Spurs need another forward. They tried to get one. Things didn't work out. It's not a blessing in disguise in any way. That doesn't mean the Spurs can't win, only that it will be more difficult with the personnel they ended up with rather than what they hoped to gain.

Why wouldn't he stay aggressive? The big question is will Pop be aggressive in giving him minutes when Parker returns. Parker was getting too many minutes and thus the condition he is in now. Patty was averaging about 10-12.

Why do these writers continuously say that an ex-Spur "knows the system"? The system has changed since these players were on the Spurs. However this would be in keeping with the Spurs long term plans to have a 15 guard roster.
