@CraigThomas Mo Speights was a big pickup for them. He doesn't average crazy numbers, but he is another big they've added. Not surprisingly, he scored above his season average versus us. Matt Bonner was guarding him for many parts of the game. With Gasol, Zbo, Speights, and Dante Cunningham they have a formidable front line. Then you have Rudy Gay who can score and rebound. So it's going to be a battle versus these guys. Zbo isn't putting up the same numbers b/c of his injury, but he's still rounding into shape (no pun intended). I expect him to be in the starting lineup come playoff time and for his production to increase. I do feel a little better about playing them this year as opposed to last b/c now Pop is playing Tiago more and we have better offensive weapons to help out when Tony or Manu or Tim are struggling. But I hate when we fall in love with the 3 ball.. that could be our downfall.

@rtesoro440 You just can't win that way. Look at the talented phoenix suns teams of the mid 2000s. They were stacked and could light you up every single night. But they repeatedly lost to our spurs, who MO was defense. That's why I'm so scared this year. Expectations are high, but we can't ignore the abysmal D.
@rtesoro440 I agree completely. Our defense is actually pretty bad. We're relying too much on our offense. I mean once we get going, it's difficult to stop us. BUT in the playoffs, this won't fly. I mean look at the game versus Beantown the other day. We got completely discombobulated. They turned up their defense and our offense couldn't execute anything. We kept shooting 3 after 3.. it's like the saying goes, "You live by the 3, you die by the 3." And it wasn't our defense that saved us. They just couldn't make a bucket. Guys on their squad were missing shots they normally make. That's what scares me about the spurs team this year. There is way too much of an emphasis on offense and our defense is at best mediocre. And the size deficiency is still there, it will catch up to us when we play LA or the Grizz.. those are the 2 teams I'm most worried about. I'm as excited as all of you guys, but I think we would lose our match-ups versus bigger teams who are solid defensively. OKC doesn't worry me b/c they play the same style we do, except more haphazardly, with lots of turnovers. It's basically one-on-one basketball with them. Either Harden, KD, or Westbrook will attack you.. no depth in my opinion. What do y'all think?
Yet somehow Derek Fisher made a shot in 0.4 seconds.. sigh..

@CraigThomas I definitely agree with what you're saying. I'm just hopeful that the young guys will step it up when asked to. Sometimes their inconsistencies on both ends of the floor just worry me.
3 years, 2 months ago on Kaman on the trade block, Spurs reportedly interested | January
Kaman would definitely be an upgrade at the Center position for us. And I like him with Tiago and Tim down on the block. However, I know that we would have to include RJ to make the numbers work. I think losing RJ would hurt us more than people think. When the spurs traded for him I know most people thought we would have a "Big Four" with RJ having the possibility of dropping 20 on any given night. Unfortunately, he hasn't been able to do that and in that sense he has been sort of a disappointment. But I think this year he has been pretty consistent in the role that the Spurs have asked him to play. He came out the gates firing and the last few games he's dropped off some, but overall he's fulfilling the role required. If we lose him, who would step in at SF? Kawhi? JA? We can't rely so much on the young guns, they'll perform some nights, but they're young and inexperienced and they WILL make mistakes. And don't forget we still won't have Manu back for some time either. I mean I love Kawhi's intangibles, dude hustles, can grab a board out of nowhere, but let's be honest he CAN"T shoot the ball. His shot is flat and asking him to do the things RJ does on the offensive end will be tough. Same goes for JA or whoever steps in. So I'm kind of iffy about the trade. But I definitely see the positive behind the trade as the spurs could use that added size from Kaman.
Very well deserved. Bruce was one of the best defenders of his time. He took pride in playing defense and would look forward to the challenge of guarding the Kobe Bryants, Lebron James, and Carmelo Anthonys of the NBA. And he worked on his offensive game, sure it wasn't the greatest of offensive repertoires, but he would reliably knock down that corner 3 time after time. Off the court Bruce was and still is just as great. He's remained a prominent figure amongst the spurs organization and in and around the community as well. Looking forward to seeing number 12 hanging from the rafters!

@Jriv420@yeah All I hear is excuse excuse excuse.. wah, wah, wah.. You should consider the fact that no team had training camp this year. We lost arguably our best player in Manu and our back up pg in TJ Ford, and have looked to rookies and second year players to fill the void. But you know what, we're finding a way to win ball games. No excuses. The Mavs are happy with one championship.. Dirk even said and I quote, "To get back training again; I was missing some of the motivation that was driving me." Cubans actions, trading away role players that fit perfectly on your championship team, speak loudly and clearly. He is willing to sacrifice this season, so that he could have a chance at getting D-Will and D12 next year. But what if that plan doesn't pan out.. what then.. then you're in a pretty sticky situation. If you have something that works, you should stick with it, b/c with so many young teams coming up, the NBA is more competitive than ever. Oh and by the way, you failed to address my point of you guys being ousted by the lowly 8th seeded Warriors.. after winning 67 games in the regular season, y'all got punked by Baron Davis, Steven Jackson, J-Rich, and Matt Barnes.
3 years, 3 months ago on Mavs' Terry thinks the Spurs schedule will doom them | January
His comment is stupid.. the mavs have had 8 games at home.. we've had one more them.. big whoop.. difference is we've won all of ours, while they haven't.. God I hate this d-bag.. always running his mouth!
Hey jackass.. y'all got hammered by the heat on opening day, when you raised your banner. And you lost to a certain 8 seed.. let me recall the goldenstate warriors? At least memphis is a legit team.. took OKC to 7 games.. Gstate got ousted by the Jazz real quick.. they straight up punked the mavs.
