@romanondrasek no, you should get an update in your admin if you're a paid customer.
3 months, 1 week ago on New packages and pricing.
@ScottDaris the list is growing, currently we have a developer dashboard with performance information and various development options. Working on adding this to the site (developers page)
@saltedlolly Should be! We grandfathered in everyone who bought DMS2..
Also, yes for this release we spent an extra couple weeks just testing and making sure the upgrade was smooth as possible.. (however there's always surprises, but nothing you can't fix in a few minutes or less)
3 months, 3 weeks ago on DMS 2 is here!
@mustafakadhem You should be all set! If you already have DMS membership, you were grandfathered to the new plan.
Everything else should go smoothly. Just hit us up on the forum and we'll do all we can to help ya out ;)
@gorillamist great to hear!
@nunomiguelm not sure what you mean, feel free to email the desk with any questions though! email@example.com
@glennyboy @arpowers In DMS 2 we've built on the concepts from 1 and simply added or adjusted features that have been on the roadmap.
With anything else, we've carefully considered the upgrade process and so far people automatically upgrading from v1 have raved about how easy it was... :)
@glennyboy Upgrade is virtually seamless. See the forum, but so far no issues.
@phimisters @pagelines upgrade is seamless.
@SidianMSJones All full width areas support background images, themes, videos now in DMS 2.
@RandyWalters Good question, we have built a developer mode with performance analytics and logging. As well as different LESS handling modes into v2. Also developer versions comes w/ comprehensive PSDs for mockups.
All this will be covered soon once we finish launching v2 and posting all the content.
3 months, 4 weeks ago on DMS 2 is here!
@mustafakadhem we'll be releasing them through PageLines. And yes, you'll be able to download all of them if you have club membership ;)
3 months, 4 weeks ago on New packages and pricing.
@kmpeter You'll get DMS 2 and club membership for as long as you paid for the developer subscription.
Sorry to hear if you've had frustrations. I'd love to hear more and work to make sure you're happy. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and have the desk forward me.
@mustafakadhem If you have the club you'll get access to all PageLines built products. It's a much better solution.
@MartinRob everything will be going down early next week :)
4 months ago on New packages and pricing.
@MattJohnson4 ya we've spent extra time on that this time. Learning from the past.
@janpeeters yes, if i understand you correct, just keep paying how you are now and you'll get the club and all it comes with for free.
For details specifics, just email the desk and we'll work with you. That's at email@example.com
Overall this new setup should be a great deal for existing customers.
@janpeeters hey there! yup here are your answers...
- I'm currently a DMS Business user. As I understood it well this will become a Standard club membership including access to all current and upcoming premium products. As well as support + updates. But for how long? This is not mentioned... Also for the duration of my current subscription? Like mentioned with DMS Standard?
Answer: You will be grandfathered in to the new club pricing plan for as long as you continue to pay the subscription. Since you'll be getting more products with no 'start up' cost, we think this will be a good deal!
- I'm not able to pay $20 for a monthly subscription. So if my current DMS Standars Club Membership ends I will have to transition to a $99 Standard License. This option is price-wise most near to my current DMS Bussiness with the early adopter reduction that I was supposed to have for the duration of my subscription. The Developer option is also too expensive for me. Will there be any negative consequences for the six websites I have currently running on my current DMS Bussiness?
Answer: Not quite sure what you're asking, but assuming your asking if you can switch easily, the answer is that yes! You'll get access to DMS 2 right away and be able to use it. Just remember that if you cancel your subscription you'll lose access to club membership as well as updates and support, unless you repurchase the club or purchase the stand alone product.
- How many websites will I be able to run with a $99 standard license?
You'll be able to run on unlimited domains!
@Kyle_n_Irving Thanks Kyle... Ya San Francisco has just become to crowded and over priced. Austin is fun and still in reality.

@illinimatt81 did you see the docs here: http://docs.pagelines.com ?
@illinimatt81 Thanks for the feedback.. I agree we need to clarify more about the difference, working on that this week.
We've always had a free version though...
@DenisCiumbargi @bolvyk @knowtheoffers everything should be grandfathered in by now.
@Jack Tummers As i've said, we want nothing but the best for you guys, we've had issues and its impossible to make everyone happy.
@Jack Tummers add this on the forum, that is the appropriate spot. Not a completely unrelated blog post, that is spam.
@Martin Bay as i've said about 10^4 times, we've been working on it. The API should be back up and everything should be back by tomorrow.
@vitaligent Still having an issue?
@Csfalcao Thanks! Workin on it.
@DaveBlewitt the issues people are having have to do with v2. Even then we're working on fixing those by tomorrow. Everything is great with DMS.
@cookcountyblog many should yes.
11 months, 3 weeks ago on Coming back online…
@cookcountyblog nothing that way should have broken, everything else should be back to normal by tonight. We've switched the server strategy.
@Jack Tummers we're fixing those issues. We'll also work with you to make you happy. Please just communicate and help us create the correct policy
@fvncy I appreciate your support, trust me we by no means meant to have any issues w/ v2 this week. We're keeping it around and healthy.
@gigaboy easy. you'd create a custom section in a child theme or plugin: http://docs.pagelines.com/developer/section-api

@rupertenberg sounds like an extension conflict or JS error

@jossif look on the front end of your website...
@MelodySharp might be, try again tonight and it *should* be working, if not, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll address it.
@Diego Valencia a plugin could be adding some conflicting css or js?
@AlexJuchniewicz that's not right, the sale is 10% off for the lifetime of your subscription.
@Mindtrain if you're still having problems with activation email email@example.com and include the time you tried along with a screenshot (if possible)..
we're working through issues, one at a time. :)
@William Soenksen thanks a lot for that, lots of people question the motives behind what we do, we're just trying to create great products for you guys (without getting yelled at for doing so!) lol
@MJMediaDMV are you still having issues? if the pagelines servers are slow (cause of traffic) if may cause the activation request to time out...
@Mindtrain @daryldyer This is exactly right, the subscription stuff is incredibly important in creating a stable product and business over time.
@daryldyer when did you purchase and were you a plus member?
@MichaelDevaney Thanks Michael! Hope you like it :)
@Nicolas Leclair really nice comment, finally some encouragement. =)
@PetraNiedermoser you are AWESOME. Please stick around =)
@DianeRuiz721 @artohoff @arpowers that was a different issue. If there is a JS error on the page, it can break the editor.
@artohoff @arpowers @DianeRuiz721 Most likely an extension, look for JS errors on console as well (created by plugins)
@Sean Clifford we'll take care of you, give us some time to get the systems back up please. We're doing the best we can and not sleeping.
@DianeRuiz721 visit the front end, that is the WP editor which isn't supported (since DMS has its own system)
@AshWhiting @arpowers I'm sure its related to the launch, they timed it that way.... lots of hacker competitors out there.

@AshWhiting we were hacked and it is 3:20am. we are also pre launch.
@AshWhiting we were hacked actually.
12 months ago on What is a DMS?
@Iamak Ya DMS is gonna be something completely different. I'd classify both the above in the 'builder' category.
1 year ago on What is a DMS?
@zapprabbit Muse is a WYSIWYG system, as described above.
@FnqWeb @soulhuntre @webmatros I dont think @soulhuntre was saying anyone in particular was a 'hater' he's only saying that it's impossible to make everyone happy.
Here is PageLines, as hard as we work, it's sometimes discouraging that no matter what we do, there is always someone pissed off.
We have to remind ourselves not to take it personally, do our best, and 'haters are gonna hate': meaning its inevitable.
@JohnnyAlexander amazing story. Love it! #BestCommentNominee ;)
1 year ago on What competitors think about DMS
@paulpartout what do you mean?
@masteryoshi yes, there may be some initial issues as we haven't specifically worked on RTL yet, but definitely soon.
@jancaynes As long as there is demand for it, we believe in keeping customers happy no matter what.
@x3mgroup two days!
@mrcatman it's going to be open source, and more information on pricing for pro level is coming wednesday
@webmktgco we're keeping some surprises for launch on wednesday. HOWEVER, DMS is designed to be something like the Mac, better for beginners and professionals alike.
The Store is what brings things together in that regard
@batmanmac ya good point, having the DMS definition out there is important, that's why we pushed this out before launch.
@bfrye26 that's been the goal (re: designers). Just a couple more days ;)
@codebreak i actually agree, i didn't mean for this to come off as arrogant, but that's the way it sounds. Originally the story was meant to be a cautionary tale, but i lost control of the narrative. Edited it, should be better now.
@WKD5 @nuonical22 lol we keep it secret for this VERY reason. I dont get your point.
@nuonical22 However, its a good opportunity to show everyone who hasn't seen DMS that it will should live up to the hype.
@nuonical22 You're right... nothing malicious really, he just tricked me into sending him the product. That's the game I suppose.
@Homepagely that would be awesome; basically letting designers design hopefully :)
1 year ago on The problem with themes…
@batonrougecounseling Hilarious. Those are some tall demands lol. We'll try and seduce you
@Brenden that's an interesting thought, you could always put a feed in to allow people to subscribe to a post type ...
@dori1 @hennings totally agree!
@Brenden no, you're good. Wait til launch date and you'll see the plans for this
@NikStepanov with that perspective, i definitely think you'll be happy. You're the target customer.
@simfrantzen that's the goal!
@tecnogaming custom coding should be cut down to the fun part, eg. adding custom CSS. With DMS, adding new sections, & plugins will be fun and should ignite creativity that, until now, only experienced coders had access to...
@Nolan_WebDesign thanks Nolan, glad you thought so.
@BobSchecter totally agreed about lock-in... should have mentioned that in the article!
@moamick problem with squarespace is that you have to use their cloud hosting, and it doesn't have a strong developer community. This will be more clear when DMS is released.
@bogolingo every case is different, but we trying hard to make sure this isn't the case ;)
@Lene Maria I agree, we started the DMS design planning process with someone like you in mind. I openly acknowledge that v2 & v1 were hard to learn.
DMS won't suffer from the same issue.
@John Petrowski It actually doesn't work like that. Some things, yes. However, page meta information doesn't get moved over. And the experience varies widely between themes.
@Crispee don't mean to offend, developers are our most important customers and users.
@webranger1962 @Malcolm Finch don't let me catch you guys using DMS lol. Can we please just stop arguing until you guys at least see what we have coming?

@Bilhelm Haha, awesome.. give us a few weeks, we'll get you in there. :)
@SidianMSJones Awesome Sidian! You don't need to know code, just be a good person to have around :)
@abird We really really really appreciate your business. The concepts behind PL will stay the same and you'll get some special perks.
@musicman75 its well thought out, very well thought out (I recognize the importance in getting it right)
We decided for the sake of the business and "managing expectations" that membership is the way to go...
For some people the free/basic version is a very viable and powerful way to go. Again lets hold judgement til the 24th.
@NateGay @arpowers @flidget this is something that will come out of the pricing announcement
@flidget Haha, i think even the *free* version will make you excited ;)
@NateGay Cool, I'm interested to hear your thoughts once it's out. I'll give you a hint though, DMS isn't a theme. We've spent two years designing it to eventually obsolete theming; a lofty goal a realize. My point though is that we're really trying to get away from being called a 'theme.' =)
@flidget I can empathize with Adobe's plight. I actually bought their stock based on that decision (because I know first hand how much better a business model it is)
@EricReid it will be download based, what we're launching with here will still be powered by WordPress.
WordPress = CMS
PageLines = DMS
@NateGay cool, i don't think you'll be unhappy.
@CaseyGraffix @dilbert4life @Malcolm Finch @flidget @NateGay You guys inspired the creation of another blog article. I think it will serve as the basis for our motives and we can work from there.. Article: http://www.pagelines.com/pagelines-values/
@Malcolm Finch @arpowers @flidget agreed! Good conversation. We know its going to be a tricky process.
@CaseyGraffix again, let us get to that... you'll get a substantial amount of time covered under your purchase.
@flidget @Malcolm Finch and if you guys don't believe me... here is a link to the PageLines Values doc: http://www.pagelines.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Screen-Shot-2013-07-08-at-3.17.22-PM.png
@flidget IE8 and above will be supported. Stuff like transitions and other cool effects won't work but will fall back gracefully.
I think that enough people will support us on recurring that we won't go out of business, again, we are NOT about making money. We are passionate about experience (and karma).. recurring allows us to create this for you.
Its MORE nerve racking hoping we have enough new customers each day to support the customers who want support for a $50 purchase back in 2010.
@dan4 everything will be GPL compatible.
@mtaus That's a good thing, we've done launches before where we didn't realize the type of reaction people would have til launch day. I think we're learning from experience :)
Anyway, it's also fun to work with you guys and reconnect after a LONG dev cycle..
@Shazzam Most of these we'll address in subsequent posts.. currently, i can tell you that devs are working on making things "DMS Ready" and we've thought about the upgrade process. Upgrading won't be one-click but DMS is so fast and easy, you'll probably be able to upgrade quite quickly.
@illinimatt81 @arpowers I get that, trust me it will make sense. We want to have a solid free product and a great premium experience as well.
People hate paying for upgrades, and that model definitely doesn't work that well, so we're favoring a premium membership for people that want to support us and have advanced features, etc..
@daveintampa yes, but you should hold off until you learn more about what "pro" features are.. it will all make sense.
we simply would like to find a good business model that makes customers happy long term. Because if you've paid attention people hate us charging for upgrades, etc.. and it seems like even though people LOVE the product they would prefer we go out of business. Ugh.
@illinimatt81 @arpowers There definitely will NOT be any breaking changes if you stop paying. Simple things like animations and support won't work.
The only decision you have to make is whether or not you want to support us. Because either way we'll be supporting you.
@illinimatt81 the majority of what you'll be paying for with PageLines membership is ongoing services like support, updates, and new features/services..
I recognize that you would like to pay once and be done, however, you want us to keep working for you indefinitely right? That's why we HAVE to move to recurring to improve the business and product for you.
@mnelson hey, let's be optimistic =) All i can say is that we've learned a lot over the last few years and we're the hardest we possibly can to make a good product for you guys.

@RalphGrizzle You have to have PL Plus Membership, http://www.pagelines.com/plus. The stand alone framework doesn't include the plus extensions, and live support stuff.
@RalphGrizzle You should be able to grab it from admin > PageLines > Dashboard > plus panel
@Rolf Should be in your launchpad admin (http://www.pagelines.com/launchpad), or install directly through the WP Admin > PageLines > Store
@SeanJM Good point, i'll take a look... its a really simple tweak.
@Kyle Clouse PageLines is the only framework that supports the Section API that I'm aware of...

@Crispee This is for normal web development. You can think of the developer community as "PageLines for advanced users."
2 years, 5 months ago on PageLines Developer Center <em>has</em> Launched
@Witte@kensnyder68 Interesting perspectives... I don't see it as a designer I think the ShareBar looks and works great.
The LinkedIn button for example doesn't have a way to set width, so if you don't like that formatting, you don't have to use it...
There are also some alternative sharebars showing up in the Store, so if you guys want to use a different approach there is always that + drag/drop..
Its really impossible to make everyone happy, as I'm sure you guys know. We're just trying to make the best, most professional, decisions for you guys.

@kensnyder68 Ya that's definitely coming... trying to avoid option creep up front; we'll listen to you guys as we iterate.
@Witte They are iFrames and objects defined by the providers... perfect positioning is impossible to attain until the scripts get better (from Google, Twitter, etc..)
@kidrichmond ya the update path is currently on the 2.0 series. You can upgrade, but its a manual process to get stared (e.g. uploading as a theme and activating.. not too bad ;) )
@showpeople That's a strange one. We'll see if anyone else has that issue.
@brothercorvo basic setup is pretty simple.. with bbPress install and activate that WP plugin, then install the free bbPress for PageLines plugin... It will activate options and handling for you..
With BuddyPress install it and the BuddyPress Template Pack; the template pack installs some templates so we definitely recommend using a child theme like Base (where the template pack adds its files)
Once this is done, again install and activate the BuddyPress for PageLines plugin and it should be supported in the framework (e.g. will work and look good!)
@MattSimpson Definitely not. Should be pretty smooth and without issues.
@imagesbybay Cool, ya the new sharebar rocks... gonna add more stuff to it in the future as well :)
@niutech_ Ya we love doing it, it's really fun to show people these awesome sites and help promote them.
