OMB (Oh My Beef or Oh My Buddha. You choose!) Nice piece, @nonstopmari. Red wine all the way! At the end I was just wrapping beef in leaves, I was so full. And Ted happily drank half my congee. Dan had TWO bowls. Soup lovers, both! Then we went to the Ox & they asked us what we wanted to eat. RIIIGHT... but we did takeout, & that place was CRANKING!

@nonstopmari 2 for Saturday, so I don't know if we'll get in. Do you have your 4 minimum?
I know I'll need several doggie bags for this much food! Which night are you ladies going to - @nonstopmari & @konaish ? I enjoyed eating at A Little Bit of Saigon, and remember eating the cold noodles with spring rolls - goi cuon.
Happy 5th Anniversary @Phyrra !

Good piece, @Melissa808 ! @jlieu the carrot soup is to die for, and has evolved since @chuggy_bear 's review. It's even better now, IMHO. If you haven't already, talk to Justin; I found him to be sincere. The rest of the Ox crew is still working, though Bob has moved on. I plan to go back for lunch and dinner when I can, as the food is good to great, and the service is super.

Too funny. Bet I'd like the Ocean Breeze. Ted will say that's not saimin, but I'd probably like it better than his favorite. Maybe we could share...

@nonstopmari Not sure they're gonna do Blaisdell mkt if they have the popup on Wed. They cancelled Kailua today. Hooked akule is less bus' up than netted.

Can't wait to eat this! Went to Tues KCC but vibe is diff. Great description of Andrew's evolution. What's telling is there's no Mama (traditional) soup on the popup menu. Ted loves akule - hopefully they'll have it Sun too!
I donated! Wish Kathy well - only $4785 to go @nonstopmari

I don't eat/like ramen - too many noodles, too much soup & pork - but I LOVED the NY Heritage ramen! What's not to like about pasta soup with sausage, mushrooms, parm, great noodles and tomato broth? The ramen eater in the family said the tonkotsu was great - and he doesn't usually like thin noodles. We'd both go again. Now, @nonstopmari , inquiring minds want to know which soup you just had one bowl of - you 3 had 2 each of the others!
2 years ago on Would you wait in line 38 minutes for ramen?
Ha! Talked to 4th & 5th graders about his Bizarre book yesterday! We all admitted to being OK w/fish eyeballs, but drawing the line @ sea slug guts! Nice ya got to hug, @nonstopmari

Lovely pasta, especially the kabocha ravioli, but I was most enthralled by the amuse bouche of hearts of palm & konbu "ribbons", and the fabulous but light dessert - that caramel "pasta"! Great to meet @chant808 @strobie & others! Mahalo, @nonstopmari

@nonstopmari Would've loved the roasted eggplant & olives. Not insomniac - what happens when I work @ night & crash too early! Crawling back to bed real soon. BTW, I'd be awake all night if I ate that much in 3 days!

Welcome! Saving ice sounds too complicated! Advice: start with one pill before you even walk in the door. Take the next one right after dairy passes your lips. The third is just insurance! I can get by with one pill if I eat 2 scoops of ice cream/gelato. (Rare.) Soft cheeses are more dangerous than hard ones. Yogurt and milk, forget it - asking for GRIEF! Have FUN!

2 years, 7 months ago on Pig and the Lady: Not just a personal addiction
While these are conversation starters, @nonstopmari and @Melissa808 - for me, not sure how edible they are.
The cooks whose food I want to eat once a month or even once a week work as hard as farmers - they wake up before the sun comes up, and leave the kitchen long after it goes down. I've seen them washing dishes, and it's all part of what they must do, and has nothing to do with glamour. What @edmorita is talking about is so many wanting to be stars rather than being working actors, polishing and perfecting craft into art. And the public will sense which is the show and what is the real thing. Those of us who are serious eaters want the real food, made with intention and integrity. This was a thoughtful piece: we can't force others to think the way we do, but we can ask the questions that may get them to think critically.
