Next year is supposed to be a good year for the State of SC for recruiting. We should bring in more instate players, and from what I have read most of the top guys favor us right now. But I agree, we have to win more instate battles to keep our heads above Clemson and compete for SEC titles.
@GeoffDawg @mb6783 I'll agree with that. But I still take Clowney.
@GeoffDawg Oh please, it's rightful owner is Jadaveon Clowney. Just ask Aaron Murray.
@John at MrSEC That is awesome.
Gamecock fans will certainly miss him, but as far we are concerned, he has more then earned the right to go pro. He will forever be one of my favorites, and Im proud the my son looks up to him and calls him Monster Lattimore. Even if he were to get drafted by the cowboys, I would still cheer for Marcus.
Clowney should have gotten it. Better player on a better defense. When SC and UGA played, Jones was a no show, Clowney was a beast.
I love that My Gamecocks got a marque match up. Most of us were expecting Northwestern, probably in the Gator bowl. From everything I read Michigan was a lock for the Capitol one Bowl. I think we just got a lot more eyes on us, now we just have to perform like last year.
@kelticreid I think he meant UGA's defense has benefited from playing bad or average offense's.
Pulling for bama in hopes that soon Saban will get bored and make another run at the NFL or take another CFB job outside the SEC.
The Florida game killed Carolina in this stat. Because of the turnovers in our own territory, Florida started in the red zone 2 or 3 times. Made it easy for them to score.
The top 4 teams are 21-5, not 21-3.
OK, like most things, people are overreacting here. This was rally, and Spurrier was simply getting the crowd riled up. Clemson being Carolina's big rival, he simply used them to get the crowd excited a little. He didn't say this in an interview, he didn't say it to a reporter, he said it to a bunch of Carolina students and fans. And I don't think your anti-Carolina, or any other school here, I just think we are programmed to take anything Spurrier says, and blow it out of proportion.
Willis McGahee was a first rd pick by the Bills in the 2003 draft. Picked 23rd. He has had a solid career and I sure hope Marcus can do the same. I dare say there has never been a more popular Gamecock football player, we love Marcus in Carolina, and everyone respects him. Even Clemson players and fans were tweeting well wishes to him. Today is the young mans birthday, what a birthday present.
If Florida were to loose to UGA this weekend, Wouldn't that put UGA in first place? So Carolina needs Florida to loose out and UGA to loose to either Ole Miss or Auburn.
I have been arguing with a UGA fan that is blaming the whole loss on Aaron Murray about the SC pass rush. He said it didn't effect UGA and Murray just missed all his throws. He said murray was only hurried 5 times. Do you know where I can find the Hurries and Knockdown stats? I know SC hit murray constantly?
If Im not mistaken, the last time Spurrier did something like this, he didn't shut out all of the media, just morris. If you go back and watch the film, he said he would go into anouther room and do one on one interviews, he just wouldn't do anything with "that guy" (morris) in the room. And that was because of Morris printing lies about Spurrier recruiting Bruce Ellington off the basketball team. Atleast thats the way I remember it, I could be wrong.
Spurrier has plenty of wiggle room at SC, but the SC fans still remember his UF days, and though he has brought us to a level never reached before, if they could string him up, plenty would. Keep up the great work
As a Carolina Fan, I knew he would be suspended as soon as it happened. And going along with the Ole Miss player, they both deserve it. My only complaint, is that the Vandy hit against Cunningham deserved the same suspension. The only reason the Vandy guy didn't get suspended is because Cunningham was to big for him to knock down. No concpiracy here, DJ's hit deserved suspension. Sucks, we really need him against Mizou.
You forgot to mention that one of the storylines in the USC-UAB games is its Steve Spurrier's first try at his 200th win. A pretty big milestone for the Head Ball Coach. Not Old Ball Coach. He does not like to be called Old. Love the site, Keep up the great work.
Vicious, what tougher schedule? Auburn and Arkansas have been about the same for the last decade, and we weren't in competition with you then for the title. Put it in context.
And Rebar, a georgia fan telling someone to have a little class? Thats a joke. And everyone knows UGA requested to move the game.
As a Gamecock fan, your right. Last year it came down to them beating Auburn and we didn't. But would they have beaten Arkansas? Probably not. It fell the way it fell, we should have beaten Auburn. Simple as that. This year, on paper the reason they are picked ahead of us is the schedule. At the end of the year, if our only loss is to LSU and Arkansas, and there only loss is to us, then we can blame the schedule. I for one, think our only loss will be to LSU and we will be in the georgia dome playing the the SEC crown. I am more upset about UGA begging to move our game deeper in the season. Half there team will be suspended on week 2, we could have rolled them.
