I am not looking forward to us adding texas AM. They really have the making's of a powerhouse, and I think there about to overtake LSU as the #2 to Bama. Certainly makes our schedule tougher.

Everybody seems to be getting there commits early this year. For a while I thought Scar was lagging behind, but they seem to be on there normal pace. Also with a few scholarship restrictions they seem to be a little more selective then in the past. Hopefully they can land a few more big ones. Nice to see us competing, and winning against programs like bama. Scar has a lot to offer, but the big question is if we can continue this after Spurrier is gone.

Brandon Wilds is the top backup for South Carolina at RB, and Shon Carson is #3. Williams isn't expected to have much impact, though SOS has always been willing to throw the freshman in there, if they can pass protect. That will be the biggest issue with williams, as well as David and Wilds. Carson is actually the best of the 3 in pass protection.

I am a SC fan, and I love Coach Martin, but I agree with you. I don't want the hardship waiver to go away, because there are some that are legitimate, but I would like to see it a little harder for kids to transfer. On the flip side, I think players should be given multi-year scholarships, and I also believe that in both Basketball and Football, if a coach leaves a school, by his choice or not, all the players should be able to transfer without sitting out a year.

I kind of wish the NCAA would put rule in place that no team can offer until the first school day of the kids junior year. It's to much pressure on for a 12-13-14-15 year old kid. I would also like to see more dead periods, where the schools have to leave the kids alone. Give them time to think.

Funny, when Spurrier got to SCar he had them take down all the Beat Clemson signs around the facility's. Not saying one way is right or wrong, but it worked for the us.

@John at MrSEC @mb6783  I wasn't trying to imply that UGA didn't have a stiff policy. Just that the whole 10% thing seems silly. Why not just say 1 game on the first offense.

Next year is supposed to be a good year for the State of SC for recruiting. We should bring in more instate players, and from what I have read most of the top guys favor us right now. But I agree, we have to win more instate battles to keep our heads above Clemson and compete for SEC titles.

Gamecock fans will certainly miss him, but as far we are concerned, he has more then earned the right to go pro. He will forever be one of my favorites, and Im proud the my son looks up to him and calls him Monster Lattimore. Even if he were to get drafted by the cowboys, I would still cheer for Marcus.

Clowney should have gotten it. Better player on a better defense. When SC and UGA played, Jones was a no show, Clowney was a beast.

OK, like most things, people are overreacting here. This was rally, and Spurrier was simply getting the crowd riled up. Clemson being Carolina's big rival, he simply used them to get the crowd excited a little. He didn't say this in an interview, he didn't say it to a reporter, he said it to a bunch of Carolina students and fans. And I don't think your anti-Carolina, or any other school here, I just think we are programmed to take anything Spurrier says, and blow it out of proportion.

Willis McGahee was a first rd pick by the Bills in the 2003 draft. Picked 23rd. He has had a solid career and I sure hope Marcus can do the same. I dare say there has never been a more popular Gamecock football player, we love Marcus in Carolina, and everyone respects him. Even Clemson players and fans were tweeting well wishes to him. Today is the young mans birthday, what a birthday present.

I have been arguing with a UGA fan that is blaming the whole loss on Aaron Murray about the SC pass rush. He said it didn't effect UGA and Murray just missed all his throws. He said murray was only hurried 5 times. Do you know where I can find the Hurries and Knockdown stats? I know SC hit murray constantly?

If Im not mistaken, the last time Spurrier did something like this, he didn't shut out all of the media, just morris. If you go back and watch the film, he said he would go into anouther room and do one on one interviews, he just wouldn't do anything with "that guy" (morris) in the room. And that was because of Morris printing lies about Spurrier recruiting Bruce Ellington off the basketball team. Atleast thats the way I remember it, I could be wrong.

Spurrier has plenty of wiggle room at SC, but the SC fans still remember his UF days, and though he has brought us to a level never reached before, if they could string him up, plenty would.  Keep up the great work

As a Carolina Fan, I knew he would be suspended as soon as it happened. And going along with the Ole Miss player, they both deserve it. My only complaint, is that the Vandy hit against Cunningham deserved the same suspension. The only reason the Vandy guy didn't get suspended is because Cunningham was to big for him to knock down. No concpiracy here, DJ's hit deserved suspension. Sucks, we really need him against Mizou.

Vicious, what tougher schedule? Auburn and Arkansas have been about the same for the last decade, and we weren't in competition with you then for the title. Put it in context.

And Rebar, a georgia fan telling someone to have a little class? Thats a joke. And everyone knows UGA requested to move the game.

2 years, 3 months ago on Spurrier Says UGA Picked Over USC Because Of Schedule

Reply

As a Gamecock fan, your right. Last year it came down to them beating Auburn and we didn't. But would they have beaten Arkansas? Probably not. It fell the way it fell, we should have beaten Auburn. Simple as that. This year, on paper the reason they are picked ahead of us is the schedule. At the end of the year, if our only loss is to LSU and Arkansas, and there only loss is to us, then we can blame the schedule. I for one, think our only loss will be to LSU and we will be in the georgia dome playing the the SEC crown. I am more upset about UGA begging to move our game deeper in the season. Half there team will be suspended on week 2, we could have rolled them.

Awesome. I stand by our right to speak freely, but I think Funerals should be held sacred. No matter what beliefs anyone has, a funeral isn't the time to protest. All these people are doing is creating hate. As a christian, it makes me sick. Jesus was about love. He said hate the sin, not the sinner. This, more then any other time, is when these people need to be shown christ's love, and in my opinion, the A&M folks did just that. Great job guys, glad to have you. From a Gamecock fan.

Maybe, but Spurrier made that brand. Just like Bowden made Fla st and Saban made LSU a brand, Spurrier made the gators a brand with his decade of winning. He created a generation of highschool players who had never seen the gators as anything but a power.

Spurrier is one of the top 5 coaches of all time. You can love him or hate him, but you have to respect what he has done. When he came back to CFB, he could have had any job in the country, he chose to go somewhere they had never won. He won at Duke, turned the gators into a national power, and has now turned SC into a good, competitive program. He is easily one of the top 5 coaches of ALL TIME.

@John at MrSEC The only problem with that is, there aren't a lot of years where SC can go into the season with a legit possibility to win the SEC and possibly be in the hunt for a NC. This year could be one. Maybe we are getting to the next level and it happens more often, but when you feel like your finnaly getting over the hump, and then the schedule gives you a little Kick in the jewels, it's frustrating. Darn that "chicken curse" lol

Most SC fans I know aren't really bothered by last years schedule. Its a rotation and thats how the chips unfolded. What bothers them is next years schedule. UGA was supposed to pick up bama and keep ole miss. SC was supposed to pick up LSU and keep Miss st. SC has to drop Miss st, while UGA gets to drop Bama. Thats not rotation. It is what it is though and at the end of the day its not the football team bringing this up, its a trustee.
