Firing Scott Brooks is the only way to go. This team has shown a lack of patience, attention to detail and game management skills.
It's been 2 seasons since the finals debacle, where he played Perkins an unforgivable 35 minutes a game. A team that lacked a low post presence and won by perimeter shooting. That chance for the ring seems so far removed now. You would think the team and game planning would have improved.
Yet he still makes the same mistakes. Unnecessarily playing a big man. Helter-skelter offense. Worst of all, they seem to ignore him now. There is no way he told them to shoot 4 three pointers when the games was tied with minutes to go. Yet, there they were, short arming bad shots, just like they have the entire series. He does not hold anyone accountable. He does not sit anyone down for making bad decisions. He just cheers them on. He does not instruct anyone to follow Mike Miller on the court. Its unforgivable to leave a shooter of his caliber open for 3's and they did it on the first two possessions of overtime. They have done it all series.
People look at Westbrook and say he's chucking it up. Which he is forced to because we have yet to run an offense that allows Durant to get free, via screens or pick and pop plays. Westbrook is dribbling around waiting for Durant to get open. Its an unenviable position, but one he takes without complaining.
The window on convincing Durant to stay is closing. Two seasons left. If you really think he's going to stay true to his word, the Thunder will need to do the same. Put him in a position to win by changing coaches. Not just any coach. A coach who can write up a play, one who can make players accountable and one who can convince that staying and building a dynasty is worth the pains.
You can't put it all on Brooks. Bad shooting nights, free throws not going down and unfortunate bounces of the ball happen - but at some point someone must be held accountable. The scary part is, I think they can win it if they can get past the Grizzlies. Its really a bad match up, which we have yet to figure out. I guess that's up to Brooks to do.
11 months ago on Time for Brooks to go? History says otherwise
@Mother Teresa @_justin @Tvaddic Why? Because he is not a company shill? Isn't afraid to diss the team? Speaks his mind? Doesn't get bogged down by ridiculous stats that are meaningless?
3 months, 2 weeks ago on Thunder vs Bucks: Pregame Primer
@ Luke @nasama All because of talent, not coaching. Where does the offense go in the playoffs? The tank. He has two of top scorers in the league, so numbers will show the scoring totals, but watch the plays. Most of the times its just Russ getting to the hole and KD making a jumper with little to no time on the shot clock. These aren't set plays, these are your players bailing you out.

@Legendary_Dork @ThunderChick2010 They can't take the beating they are seeing on the court (4 out of 5 so far). So they have prod at OKC somehow. Lack of respect and taste.
1 year, 11 months ago on Wednesday Bolts – 4.24.13
DXL Right, but thats kinda my point. He won't get any more confident playing some scrubs in Tulsa. Not that he was going to make a huge difference this season, but there were plenty of games he could have played spot minutes.
1 year, 11 months ago on Tuesday Bolts – 4.16.13
@DXL How is he supposed to get better? Fisher isn't great on defense yet he was logging a lot of minutes (for a 38 year old back up). This is a terrible excuse. The kid may lack a motor on defense, but Harden wasn't the next Gary Payton.
@PKBOB @Lost Ones I heard they were great, but I don't believe they add stuff up when you bike ride (if thats your thing).

@C-Wil Bad situation? I respect your opinion, but Presti was given the green light to max out Harden (some reports say so). Its obvious Harden wanted to be the man and theres nothing wrong with that, I mean he turned down the offer because it was 1.5 mill short a year. His production is equal to Martin's right now. I hope you realize these guys are young and there is a lot of room for growth. My thought is that Brooks is what has held this team back. Poor rotations, terrible matchups, poor offensive coaching in crunch time and awful time management.

@f5alcon @KCScuba Because no one who was hurt the previous year ever goes number one? Oh wait... Kenyon Martin...

@kennygee90 @f5alcon Last time he did that he ended up in a Colorado court room. :D

@thunderbolt @MJOKC Wasn't he named a reserve?
2 years, 1 month ago on Thursday Bolts - 1.31.13
@Keith00 @f5alcon @thunderbolt Oh I agree, hes not a starter. Wasn't arguing that end. I see him more as a 4 than a 3. My point was that Lamb and Liggins are 2 guards and liggins can play a 3. Liggins has the energy that I just don't seem from Perry. He won't crack the rotation unless he wants to be a 3, but like it was mentioned, his shooting would need to improve. In all reality, he is trade bait. I feel like lamb is as well.
@f5alcon @thunderbolt Different positions for liggins and lamb. They don't count when it comes to this.
I went to the game and I have no idea how we are as efficient as the stats show. Its like we don't know how to run the offense. There's a lot of finger pointing to spots and yelling. You could see Kevin and Russell's frustration as they pointed to where the screen is supposed to be. The second unit is dreadful, outside of Martin, though he was doing a lot of one-on-one. This could have all just been due to Russ struggling, but I just don't think Brooks is the right guy to take them over the hump. The offensive sets are stagnant and it has been this way during his tenure.

@tydude Ouch. Thats gonna be a mess.

Why is everyone blaming Perk? Blame Brooks. I thought after the Spurs series he had made the turn, being more strategic. Guess I was wrong.
You can't win when it 8 on 5. Sorry folks, the obvious needs to be stated. Not a complaint, just an observation. The Heat made plays to win, but when you get called for cheap fouls it makes you less aggressive. Russ shot 3 fouls shots all night, his first was in the 4th.

@dancassidy35 Def not serious. Was just messing with Royce since he's been getting a lot of Perk questions.
2 years, 10 months ago on Wednesday Bolts - 5.9.12
Who is Perk?
@tygablood Lebron, Bosh and Wade are just as soft. They should be called the Miami Floppers. Seriously, they hit the floor and turn to the officials on every play. Sorry, but losing to a team that hit 5 more 3's than normal and got a ridiculously good game from Lebron and they barely win by a basket or two isn't bullying. Take off the flourescent colored glasses, stop being blinded by the neon signs of South Beach, the Heat have some issues. If Battier is your three pointer shooter the rest of the way, thats not very good. And don't mention Mike "the glass man" Miller, guy can't stay on the court for more than a week. Their bench is as weak as any. I can't see Wade and LeBron carrying them all the way. Its too much. 40+ mins in the playoffs is gonna be their enemy.
2 years, 11 months ago on 16 thoughts from the Heat-Thunder game
@ThunderChick2010 Very true. I think people get caught up in all the hype. Its one game and really, the thunder already made their statement last week. If this was the Heats shot back, I wasn't impressed.
2 years, 11 months ago on Thursday Bolts - 4.5.12
Everyone sounds so dire. Whats wrong with you guys? Did you guys not see it took a monumental effort from LeBron, some junk 3 pointers from Battier, terrible officiating and a terrible game from our bigs/Harden, 9 to's from KD.... to lose by a basket or so on their home court? Seriously, we were due for some loses. If the Heat think they can win they way they are built - they are dead wrong. They have no depth. No true inside presence and a lack of half court offense. Also, their defense is highly overrated. LeBron won't be able to clutch and hold KD like that at the Peake.
@Keith00 Can you trade an injured player?

@Zachary_Don Haha. Nice.
3 years ago on Thunder lose a stunner at home to the Rockets, 104-103
@TaoMaas So then why go away from it? Its clear he is quite good at some things, but when it gets to crunch time or when the other team makes a run, he just sits there. Deer in headlights. Maybe he's trying the Zen thing from Phil and the Bulls/Lakers, and in the future it will pay off, but theses guys are too young. You need to call a timeout.
@f5alcon Really? I can name 6 players that are better. Rose, Durant, Lebron, Wade, CP3, hell I would take Kevin Love over this guy. Theres a reason the offense is a 3-point scheme, the guy can't do much other than dunk. He's an elite defender, but he's terrible at the offensive end. He would be a better fit with the Clippers.
3 years ago on Report: Magic and Thunder have discussed Dwight Howard deal
@justin_mia @alvarex @courtsense What has Dwight shown in the playoffs? He has about as many post up moves as Perk - which is next to nothing. Dwight is a great player, but he's not a guarantee for a ring. I'd rather have a young and talented, be it wreckless, point guard who is willing to grow, than a guy who wants to be in movies and "the guy". Which, isn't that the same reason people crap on Russ, for wanting to be the guy, yet everyone wants Dwight.
@Beezy Really Harden - nice? Ibaka - not a difference maker? Tell that to the Suns and Mavs. Manu won a bunch of rings off the bench for the Spurs. Clearly, you don't know much past the ESPN -Heat hype. I'll wait till Lebron proves it in the playoffs, not against mediocre teams in the lower bracket of the East.
I want to thank everyone one who commented on my tees! I am looking at getting the top 3 or 4 printed soon, I'll let everyone know which ones once they are ready.

@Tronchaser Haha. Thanks! I loved that tee too! I was thinking of doing something with a hand raised with the three fingers, so I'll kick the idea around a bit. I hope I didn't come off as defensive. Some of the stuff made by the bigger companies is definitely cool!

@D@nny Thanks for your feedback, none of the shirt colors are set, so I am open to any ideas. These were quick mockups that I decided to use.
@Tronchaser Thanks for your input. I avoid the team stuff because its the same exact design for all the teams. Mass produced and it lacks any sort of fan input or local flavor. I don't like to be told what to wear by adidas or nike either. Btw, I'm 31 and not a hippy. :)
@f5alcon I haven't seen a rumble shirt in awhile, the one they did was a limited run - I own one. I'm sure the lawyers will do there thing, but I am hoping I was able to stay away enough to avoid too much resistance.
Hey guys, I have designed some tees, and would love some feedback. No disrespect to T&L, but I wanted to try my own hand at it. Check them out and give me some feedback. I am looking at getting some designs produced on popularity. Thanks!http://www.waltercolindres.com/projects/thunder-t-shirts/
