@JimmyWarrior1 True. Throughout the years I have watched San Antonio (pretty actively since 2008) they have not landed a single big fish.. ..but they obviously know what they're doing and more love to the team for that!

..and if I can weigh in on the Gasol matter - he will probably get to replace Duncan for a year or two when he decides to retire. Pau is a couple pf years younger after all, age gracefully in SA Pau!

We do this every year; dream about big names who will sign elsewhere, and we keep dominating the league regardless. It's great fun though, all in the spirit of the silly season. There is nothing else going on basketballwise. I look forward to an article that breaks down Leonards chances of playing the world cup, deliver!
How much was he making last year? Sounds like a large raise. Even if he was a vital part last year.

@jaws3 Agreed. I felt alot worse in the Dallas losses! Miami hasn't figured anything out regarding the Spurs team. They just executed better. And Kawhi got a foul or two to many to soon.

It shouldn't be defined as a kick.. but clearly a technical.
Cudos to Tiago for not "selling it" WWE style, and also Diaw not overreacting despite clearly seeing it.
I wonder what Vince Carter said to Splitter?

@xpd447 yeah, I thought management cut him? Never read about Neal wanting out. He was a restricted free agent. He got an offer that was not matched by the spurs cause they had better options (Bellinelli)

Michael Kidd Gilchrist says he lost one on one versus Jordan last year. And that's an active NBA player. Doesn't sound like much of a challenge for MJ.
1 year, 2 months ago on Memphis Owner Pera wants Michael Jordan one-on-one
@RockheadTG 2012 was a sour defeat. Some role player always stepped it up in OKC while the Spurs got NOTHING from their bench. We are deeper now, they are less deep. But lets pray defensive greats Ibaka doesn't and Sefolosha stays out of it on the offensive end.
1 year, 2 months ago on Russell Westbrook's return still unknown
@jaws3 The danger is getting injured in the competition. They can handle it.Parker has been playing Eurobasket (7 times), Olympic (2 times) and World championship (once) since 2001. And he has played pretty strong throughout his career - everyone has their ups and downs during a long NBA season - international competition or not.
1 year, 2 months ago on Parker earns Eurobasket MVP honors as France wins Gold over Lithuania
In the semis against Spain he did it on his own in the first half, scoring 12/20 pts, and after that his team mates had a a tough time finding a rythm in the game. But they prevailed.
It was clearly a part of the gameplan that Tony came out looking to be a distributor. Having lost once to Lithuania earlier in the tournament France needed to try something different. And it worked wonders for them. Great to see the smiles on the spurs trio as they brought home the gold. Diaw looked great and was aggressive!
Didn't really look like France had any kind of set plays. There was alot of one on ones and after starting 1/10 from 3p they made 9 out of their next 11 to get back in it. The french zone defense in the later stage of the game made things difficult for Marc Gasol but Spain kept looking for him which led to a bruising tough game (Diaw fouled out mid 4th). Parker couldn't buy a bucket in the end but made four clutch free throws.
It will be an interesting finals. Lithuanians played killer defense and outmuscled a huge croatian squad (the team AVERAGE 6'8") Valanciunas got 5 blocks. Considering the french didn't play good offense at all last night the odds should favour Lithuania. Then again.. ..a couple of intimidating shot blockers never stopped Tony Parker from going to the paint now has it..

I have these. A good shoe. When lacing tightly it looks a bit bulky over the toes - to much rubber there I suppose. But I do have thin feet so I probably lace tighter than most.
1 year, 3 months ago on Video: Review of Tony Parker's PEAK sneakers
That's fair, considering he has not been properly battle tested. But earning minutes in the playoffs ahead of DeJuan Blair shows that the Spurs do have confidence in him.
1 year, 3 months ago on Spurs Rank: #14 Aron Baynes
Diaw has moore talent and is of simular stature. Blairs wage was low, spurs wanted something in return and could afford to wait. And clearly Dejuan wasn't disagreeable enough to get waived (like Jackson)
1 year, 4 months ago on DeJuan Blair takes swipe at Spurs during press conference
What was Wades easy way out?
1 year, 4 months ago on Report: Oden spurns Spurs, signs two-year deal with Miami
Blessing in disguise. Miami seem to have a charity spot on their roster each year at centers who don't get to play. First Dampier, then Curry next is Oden. I really don't think he can be effective, he will be playing with caution. If you're afraid, it just will not work out in the NBA. Let's give backup c minutes to Baynes and get someone for Kawhi to sub with at sf instead, that is what we need.
Really nice, hard to come by in europe?

Isn't Anderson Varejao expendable for Cleveland?I'd love to see him in a Spurs uniform :D
1 year, 5 months ago on How about Asik in black and silver?
@ChrisCano @JohanBeijer I like Hickson, his energy would be great for this team. And Jefferson has got plenty of solid years ahead of him. Neal will probably get a deal simular to Greens, but he can't be first backup point guard. If management does feel loyalty towards Manu going forward.. ..I'm afraid he will be getting more millions than a vets minimum though.
1 year, 6 months ago on A look at the Spurs salary situation heading into next season
@ChrisCano If Manu goes and Jacksons paycheck obviously up. That leaves alot of money on the table - who can the Spurs bring? Could a team like the Spurs land a big fish even with cap space? Would a star like Igoudala look at this team? Or can management dig up another Leonard (and how would we get there in a trade situation?). There are plenty of players who are better than Manu now but can the Spurs get them?
Looking forward to NEXT season, I certainly agree with you.
1 year, 6 months ago on Like family, Spurs never lost faith in Ginobili
Don't have the energy to track y'all disbelivers down and demand your excuses - but im one of those who insisted he was worth the risk. But man, that Pop guy sure knows how to coach. That was a bold move that paid off big time.
If all games look like this.. Tony being handled by the Heat, not really getting going. Even if that is the key to the teams success - would Parker get playoff MVP?
In 07, when Duncan was the biggest star demanding most of Clevelands attention Parker capitalized on that and became playoff MVP.
Who decides this award?Talk about getting ahead of myself.. ..but hey, i'm curious.
1 year, 6 months ago on Game 3: San Antonio Spurs 113, Miami Heat 77
I always feel like he is inches away from playing great. He takes alot of momentum changing shots, tries to get timely steals, mixing it up. But he is unfortunately not converting with any kind of consistency. I don't know what he is showing in practice. If they judge that he can get it going again? But he has really been slightly off for most of the season.
The key thing about keeping him out there is Miamis respect for him. I think it's fair to compare him to Wade. We can't leave him, he will take advantage of that and I think it's the same with Manu. He demands defensive attention. Can't see him as a spot up shooter at all.
For game 3, I still think Manu is worth the risk.
1 year, 6 months ago on Spurs face serious questions about Manu's minutes
Yeah, let's have the part on LBJs floor again. He aint gonna like it
1 year, 6 months ago on Heat ‘go for the kill’ late in third quarter to blow out Spurs, even Finals series
Throwing the ball at someones feet is not a kicked ball violation. Those were bad passas even if Parker pleaded for calls. Let's steal momentum back in the next game!

1 year, 7 months ago on Lakers' World Peace goes crazy for Tony Parker's 'magical' shoes
@JeffProjectSpurs Nope, but I did locate it just in case. If my calculations are correct - GS has a bag of bricks coming up :D
1 year, 7 months ago on With the Warriors starting a pair of aces, it's time for Spurs to play their wild card
Percentages. Spurs should knock down one or two more threes, a modest request considering their regular quota. Curry , Thompson drop to a solid 50% and we win the games. It will happen.
@ChrisCano I remember doubting him getting minutes when Tony went down. Glad to be wrong - good size, good D. Unspectacular - but steady, i'd rather have that right now.
1 year, 7 months ago on Joseph's maturity due to Toros tenure
@GinoBaldisseri I really want that to happen. Love watching Miller. His Q1 alley oop pass with 9 secs on the clock really made me smile. Everyone expecting him to run the clock down. And what made me really cheer was when he pulled the same trick to kill the game in Q4. Miller time in SA! Would be a much more enticing series than vs Warriors. I want the the Nuggets too :)
1 year, 7 months ago on Pros and Cons: Facing the Golden State Warriors
Beating Lakers minus their top four guards is really nothing to cheer about.
Had the roles been reversed we'd be starting Mills (SG) and Nando (PG)?
That does sound better than Morris and Goldielocks regardless.
Injuries aside - it'll still look nice in the history books.
I wonder who Lakers would cut to resign Howard..
1 year, 7 months ago on Magic Johnson tweets criticism of Howard after Game 4
@ajd21 @Dubsallday Ha ha! This is so very constructive :D
@YaBoyRay408 @LiveSpurs I wish injuries wasn't a part of the game. Always want to see the best team available out there!
It's really to bad that we, the fans, also always turn to this as an excuse when we loose. I've done it. And the Warrior fans will do it when this series is settled.
@Kingsez408 @ajd21 Seems like you're not getting through to this guy :D.
Kawhi will not be guarding Curry.
That's really the end of this strange debate.
If GS manage to keep up the crisp shooting and ball movement they will be desperate to keep the ball away from Klay and Curry. Make them pass it inside. And then foul the bejesus out of those 50% FT shooting goons
@YaBoyRay408 @Emicris Media? Money? City? Market? Any of this have any part of it?
But yes, Lakers are a classic franchise and will surely regain face soon enough. Using the tools listed above, it's always worked and will always work.
The Spurs found their foundation in a lottery - and have sustained it for a whole lot of more years than anyone thought possible. Possibly even long enough to attract new star power when Duncan retires. As a Spurs fan I sure hope so. Small market pride!
@Kingsez408 @ajd21 I have great respect for coach Karl. I think Denver have been overachiving all year and the warriors bested them in the playoffs. Great job!
Karl though, does not coach "nasty" basketball. He does not use all tools available to him. He is outspoken about being against the "hack a shaq" for instance. You can expect to see alot of Ezel and Bogut at the stripe. At about 51% they will be needing to step up.
Is this a key to victory? Maybe not, but it will impact momentum. Where denver chased ball on great GS ball movement and crisp shooting the Spurs will try not to. Instead foul every now and then and rest. Last year G3 versus Clippers - watch that game. See Reggie Evans and DeAndre Jordan implode at the stripe and the Spurs digging themselves out of a huge deficit by forcing an offense upon the opponent that they are unfortable with.
Sub Ezeli and Bogut.. Who plays Duncan? Who plays Splitter?
I rambled to long about this but in short:
When it comes to coaching - Pop does what Karl does not.
@Kingsez408 @ajd21 Duncan/Bogut. On his best day Bogut could do a decent job, but he won't be coming to work every day. And Duncan will get alot of touches.
Splitter may have been invisible on the offense versus the Lakers, but if he is going to be defended by Ezeli.. Or who's next? Landry? To small. To me it looks like Tiago will have a field day in the low post.
And yes, Diaw is out of shape. But still he can add spacing and knock down threes and is a great passer. Which of the warrior centers are comfortable defending outside the paint? Bonner can also add this element.
Spurs are very dynamic inside and things look really different when the second unit plays.
But yes, I will credit the Warriors for great guards and shooting and they work at a high pace. But I will admit they have any kind of edge, nor even match, in the frontcourt. Especially not on the offense.
@Kingsez408 @Spursforever69 Everyone is doubting the warriors every year. And they still don't get anything done. Reaching the playoffs every four years or so isn't exactly intimidating.
Way to go Bonner! Nice to see him knocking down shots in the playoff to.
1 year, 7 months ago on Pop praises Bonner's work down low
Got to try something, I like this plan. Spurs are looking like crap right now, in trouble against any west team in this playoff. Hope Parker finds his groove again, otherwise we're heading home early...
