Sweet post, Erica. Just underscores my belief even more that you can't automate relationships. I never automate any of my interactions online (and especially not IRL!). There was a time that I attempted to schedule tweets & status updates, but then quickly abandoned the practice as it felt less authentic for me to do so. Anyway, hope you're well! :p
Hi Aaron! I've never heard of Shopify before your post, but I would have to say that if I was to judge the company by the letter above, they have customer relations down cold! It's a rarity today, unfortunately, which makes it even more refreshing to see when we come across a real life example like the one in your post.
Thanks for sharing your story, which I find inspirational. Cheers!
Great ideas, Jay, I especially like #6. #8, however, takes some thought. Trying to find the ideal balance between personal & professional can be dicey at times.
Thanks for the post!
PamMktgNut ideabloke Hi Pam, please use http://Facebook.com/FanbaseSolutions Thanks loads!
Hi Pam, just wanted to put in my 2 cents worth here.
It's similar to #49: "We used to be on Facebook, but then a couple people wrote some bad reviews about us on there so we don't do Facebook anymore."
Most newbies tend to see social media as a broadcasting platform instead of a tool to interact & engage their clients with (I know I did in the beginning!). Anyway, hope your weekend rocks!
To be honest, I don't DM. I don't check it & most DM's I get are from people that I just followed, I assume they're setup on auto. 99% of these DM's have a promotional link attached to them, which I never open. This is probably the only Twitter feature I don't use.
Cheers!
Hi Carol, when it comes to time management focusing on profitable business goals, do you see multitasking as a blessing or a curse? I'm only asking because I seem to be blessed with the ability to multitask, but it seems like not much is being accomplished. Thanks & cheers!
Touche, Amy! I totally get the getting up earlier thing you mentioned, the difference is that I feel great doing it know. I'm currently a solopreneur, but I'm also working at a proper job (doing the same thing, really). Noticing that I'm getting more accomplished at my job (probably because I'm in an office) compared to my venture (which is home-based). So perhaps there's something to be said about having a separate office for my business? Let me know if you notice anything different if you decide to make that switch! Cheers & have a great week!
ryancoxginidietrich Wow, never really given that much thought. I mean about abusing SoMe for the free stuff. Apparently I'm not that sophisticated! :p
My brother works for FedEx, so I hear these stories every now and so often. I'm sure that something like this has been happening since the dawn of free enterprise across virtually every industry.
With more people embracing social media, businesses have an opportunity (and motivation!) to respond to 'what needs fixing' in a timely manner. On the flip side, consumers have virtually a much better platform to air legitimate grievances with a much better chance of resolution.
Bravo on the post, Gini!
