@dollarbillrussell To me...Serge is a big factor in the trade as well. How Serge's overall game has evolved as the third option without Harden getting touches. Adams will be a nice, functional role player. Jury is still out on Lamb whether he can carve out a niche on a playoff level NBA team.

Hard to get any feel on these Western Conference teams so far. Every team is flawed in one manner or another. Every team has a weakness or two. Makes for fun viewing though.. Double dip for me tonight...Bruins and Thunder both playing on the road. Hope the Thunder can adjust to getting in front of Mike Conley.

@f5alcon @El Prez I'm not sure I'd say anything other than I'm glad we advanced without going six or seven games. That first half in Game 1 isn't something I'd cling to as a Thunder fan. Memphis was awful. They usually understand their limitations as a team and play to their strengths. For some reason---they were awful, but did come back to win the third period 31-13 on the road. I've been fairly consistent on what I've said about the Western Conference this season. Namely, all eight teams advancing are good and there's no easy first and second round opponents for the Thunder like they had in 2012 with the aging Mavs with Kidd at pg and the aging Lakers with Ramon Sessions at pg. Russell Westbrook basically didn't have to defend in either of those series. Against the Spurs,  Thabo defended Parker to help turn the series in the Thunder's favor.

Okay..to me, this is the key for the remainder of this series. Not what Tony Allen does with Kevin Durant, but rather what Scott Brooks elects to do with Mike Conley in regards to getting him off the dribble and out of the paint.  Conley went where ever he wanted in Game 2, and actually, in the third period of Game 1.

Don't get me wrong, I love  watching Tony Allen play, but he hasn't shut Durant out. Just made him work harder for his space and touches.

If I were Royce or Darnell my feature either later today or tomorrow morning would be on what OKC needs to do to take Mike Conley off the ball.

When I have my blog up later this summer, this is the kind of stuff I would want to do.

Bruins beat the Red Wings 2-1 to get back on top of their series. Thunder need to do the same tomorrow night in Memphis. The one thing which gives me hope is that the few times OKC has had their backs to the wall---they've responded. The Houston game, the Spurs streak killer, the win in LA over the Clippers. OKC needs that type of backs against the wall mentality tomorrow night. Many ebbs and flows in a series between two fairly evenly matched teams, btw Memphis now leads in this series 15-14 in games played the last three seasons. Again, I have no idea why anyone in Oklahoma thought this was going to be easy. PLAYOFF BASKETBALL.

Can't dwell on the issues of the Thunder not having enough mental toughness. NBC Network Family airing three different NHL Playoff games concurrently. Bruins lead the Red Wings 2-0 at the second intermission. Trying to watch all three plus the two NBA games.

@hamfists Traber made a good point this evening. Tony Allen would actually be a much more effective offensive player on an up tempo team where he could utilize his athleticism in transition. Tony Allen is my favorite O State player from the Eddie Sutton Era. Just love the way he competes.

@OKC_Gooner @El Prez I've always loved Chalmers. Ever since he ventured onto the OKC bench during the 2012 Finals and gave KD a tongue lashing...he's been one I've always liked as well. Kid is a winner. Won a national championship at Kansas. Been part of two 'ship teams at Miami. Presti needs to quit being so concerned with the 'nice boy' Thunder image and bring a couple of guys on board who will do the nasty things required to win a ring. Odd...with all these choirboys in OKC....the Thunder leads the NBA in technicals, but they're not what I would describe as game changing, nasty technicals. Show me some of Zbo or Mike Conley's blood on Thursday night. Show me some urgency.

I'll be putting my post season All-TSN Team together as these playoffs unfold. Tony Allen will easily make my TSN First Team as my elite perimeter defender. Great competitor. I know everyone on here hates Patrick Beverly, but he's another one I love. The way he competes. Off the Thunder...only Fish and Nick are catching my eye at all right now. I need to see more urgency from our stars.

@f5alcon @El Prez We have more talent because of Westbrook and Durant. We have not been the better team since February. Memphis has clearly played better team ball than OKC for over a two month period of time.

Since the All-Star break, OKC has been an average team.

If Detroit running anything it wanted until Drummond fouled out didn't get their attention...I don't know what would.

What I'm not getting is why anybody is surprised. Memphis was 40-19 with Gasol. Since his return they've been one of the most consistent teams in the league. They play defense. They value the ball. They have the ability to shorten the game by running effective sets deep into the shot clock. Why this market thought this series was going to be a cakewalk is beyond me.

The timeout was not an issue.

The set Joerger had his team run off the timeout with .36 left in the OT was an issue. It was perfect execution on the game's most important possession. Memphis made a layup. I repeat, Memphis basically made a layup on a beautiful set on the game's most important defensive possession for the Thunder.

To me, that sequence epitomizes what Memphis has had to be the last the two months to just make the playoffs, and how OKC has basically sleepwalked as a team since the second half in Orlando.

Now we find out if OKC has the right stuff. They've lost homecourt in this series. They've only once ever won a playoff game in Memphis....and it took three overtimes.

As a market, OKC shows a bit of it's NBA youth in the acumen department.

This isn't Switzer's boys running through the Big 8 to another Orange Bowl.

It's tough for a small market team to get to an NBA Finals, let alone win one.

@Old Man Game @El Prez Memphis is not a typical No. 7 seed. This series will be more like a tough conference semi-final. With most probably.... LAC waiting for the winner. I give Memphis a helluva lot of credit. They could have wilted after KD's four point play and Perk's put back at the buzzer. They just kept coming. Thought the set play by Joerger off the timeout with .36 left in OT was a piece of art. Just beautiful execution to conceivably create a two for one opportunity and the eventual game winner.

@Perk-Punt @GlendaGonzales It will be a paradox for the DT Trekkies if OKC wins the NBA title with Brooks as coach. They will be in denial. Some will have sleep disorder issues. Some might fall prey to drug addictions. The Lamb Faction is the most worrisome. Royce might need to install an 800 twenty-four hour call center for them. I worry about The Lamb Faction.

For Memphis to have a chance in this series Mike Miller and Courtney Lee have to produce some perimeter offense. Memphis as a team...is not a great perimeter team, but those two have to pull their link. As a team they were a paltry 2-11 from beyond the arc Saturday night against what has been a porous OKC defense for the past two months. Miller was -21. And it wasn't like Thabo was a wunderkind stopper because he basically only played 11 very light minutes while Caron played 30 minutes.

Be interested to see if Joerger gets these two more involved so as Brooks doesn't have the luxury to play Butler starters' minutes.

To me----if Memphis is going to make a serious run at this series...this is the game they need to put in their pocket. Otherwise the reality is they would have to win four of the next five, and with two of those coming in OKC.

Big game tonight.
