Went to the Stillwater-PC West game in OKC tonight. Only made it through the first half as Stillwater led 49-14 at halftime. My senior year in high school ('75), PC West played PCO at Taft Stadium for the state championship in the greatest high school game I've ever attended. Triple overtime. Really depressing to see these schools so bad in football currently.

@Messire Copying the TSN model hedge play with OKC at third... I see. Smart to reduce your potential Thunder downward liability there.

Nice little bit of managing there by Ned Yost to go with the kid to get those two outs. Great ball game. What I expected from these two teams.

Another injury...I'm glad the TSN model hedged OKC at No. 3.

@Johnny Thunder Why.. what happened---did she write the follow up story to Stevie Clark changing his life after being arrested for peeing out a moving car window? Will this be the template for a future ESPN 30/30 film? Pissing in the Wind: The Stevie Clark Story.

Agree with Darnell on what OKC would be like without Kevin Durant for the course of an 82 game schedule in the rugged Western Conference. A borderline .500 team. OKC has too many role players who were brought aboard to compliment the two stars. Not enough honest, two way players adept in both zones of play. Too many guys filling specific niche roles.
How many honest, two way players does OKC currently have on its roster?
I would say, Durant, Westbrook, Serge and Collison. Jackson and Adams will get there with some more work on their defensive games.
After those six... situational role players.

@bear_jew What Gundy should have done was make Wickline his offensive coordinator and assumed play calling duties with him if needed. Pretty much like he's now doing with former Shippenberg coach Mike Yercich. Sigh. It's like a bad soap opera. Gundy--Cliff Barnes. Boone--JR Ewing. Holder -- Faux Bobby Ewing wannabee...Boone's prodical son.

@King of Carrot Flowers the third @El Prez @Prodigy-X [Thunder 2015 NBA Champs] This will be interesting to see if Texas and Wickline fight this all the way or settle out of court. Interesting that O State had this specific covenant in Wickline's contract so as he couldn't leave for a lateral job position without paying liquidated damages. If it goes to court it will have to be moved to federal court under the claim of legal diversity by both parties seeking a fair trial. Hope it goes to court.
@King of Carrot Flowers the third @Prodigy-X [Thunder 2015 NBA Champs] Who is UT's offensive coordinator...Watson or Wickline?
@tygablood It looks like legal semantics. The other co-coordinator is on the public record saying he scripts the first twenty-five plays of the game. Hard to prove either way what Wickline is doing as far as being a genuine offensive coordinator. You would think this would be quietly settled and Texas will pay some money as damages. Be interesting to see if Texas feels strongly enough about this to change the jurisdiction into federal court and out of Payne County---where I assume the lawsuit was filed. Only an Aggie would have filed this suit in Austin, Texas.
@tygablood Wickline lawsuit will be interesting. It appears there was a specific covenant in the contract to prevent this from happening. I would think it would be settled. Interesting set of facts.

@GREENE1148 @d21 @El Prez @_justin @AlexR44 Asik should have plenty of energy stored up after last season's feeble performance. Anthony needs to be gentle with him from an emotional standpoint. Keep telling him how valuable he is to the team.

@_justin @El Prez @d21 @AlexR44 Broad based credibility with the model.
@_justin @El Prez @d21 @AlexR44 I'd have to review my DT WC ledger sheet from last season where I crushed Vegas. New Orleans was one of the contest high eight teams I nailed right in the sweet spot. Seems like 10th or 11th if memory serves me correct. On my newly released TSN team standings from yesterday, I have the Pelicans slated for 10th in 2014-15. Behind the Suns, in front of the Nuggets.
@d21 @El Prez @_justin @AlexR44 Put the metrics away and let your instincts guide you. He plays on a marginal team.
@_justin @El Prez @AlexR44 Ha. Because he's white. Nick Collison is my favorite player in the league--last time I looked he was still somewhat white.
@_justin @El Prez @AlexR44 Because I think he's the best defensive player in the league and his offense will come. He should be the next great superstar in the league.
@_justin @AlexR44 How many meaningful NBA games has Kevin Love played in his NBA career? Kevin Love and Kevin Martin should still be teammates.
@AlexR44 Harden should be No. 10 because he completely loafs on defense. I might go a bit higher with Davis----it's only a matter of time with him. I'd have Blake and Love next to each other. I want to see Love play meaningful NBA games before we move him into the Top Six.
Chargers-Broncos tonight. Perhaps a preview of the AFC Championship Game. Too much basketball talk on here tonight. We'll see for ourselves what the Thunder are or aren't without KD beginning next Wednesday night.
@Johnny Thunder I've had issues when I margin because it makes for a too long a post and you're not allowed to post beyond a certain length. So I just push it all together. I like that...The Godfather of DT. My name is Michael as well.
1 day, 18 hours ago on Lessons from preseason
I only watched the one preseason game which was televised. Didn't even bother to listen to the other games because with so many rotation players out--it's almost pointless to make general team observations. These would be my observations from that one game. 1 The Thunder will struggle without Durant offensively, duh. 2 Jeremy Lamb and Perry Jones cannot be depended on game to game night to night for consistent play against good NBA players. van Gundy spoke of this just last night in general about younger/marginal players in the NBA. 3 Morrow will help this team offensively. 4 Adams is getting better offensively, but Perkins will still be needed to fill a fluid defensive role depending upon the opponent. 5 Reggie Jackson and Russell Westbrook will have to play some heavy, heavy minutes. 6 People shouldn't get hung up on who starts but play closer attention to minutes distribution and rotational combinations. 7 Scott Brooks will not have his Kevin Durant crutch as a coach. These games without Durant will be challenging to say the least. Brooks will have to learn, change, adapt quickly as he tinkers with ways to make the Thunder as competitive as possible without Durant. 8 Thunder fans need to understand you don't replace the best offensive player in the world, instead you just do the best you can without him and try to keep your head above water till he gets back. This is what I learned from that one meaningless, pointless NBA preseason game.

@d_m_free Did T Mac's Houston teams ever even win a series? He should make the list.
@_justin @d_m_free My top all-time Never To Win A Ring Team would go...1 Baylor, 2 Malone, 3 Barkley, 4 Stockton, 5 Reggie Miller, 6 Bob Lanier. Yes, me must add Nash and Ewing.
@Thunder_Blue @El Prez Houston lost Parsons, Lin and Asik as rotational players. But they did add Ariza who is an effective three point shooter and a much needed intangible guy. More will be needed from Garcia. Not sure if Jason Terry has anything left. Houston needs to make another move to solidify its bench depth. I don't see them reacquiring Jeremy Lamb to fill this void. They need another player. That's why teams have GMs. From a defensive standpoint, the presence of Ariza, Beverly and Howard should help mask James Harden's horrific defensive play. Bench needs another scorer.
TC...this is my list. dr. el prez. thanx

@FunakiEjectsAnother [#StartLambFaction] @El Prez @Spurmania Are you talking about MOV?
2 days, 8 hours ago on Lessons from preseason
@ThunderChick2010 @El Prez @King of Carrot Flowers the third This is very simple. The second best player in the world is going to miss their first twenty games. If they go .500 we should take it. 8-12 wouldn't shock me.
@Spurmania One rebound away from playing for a Threepeat. Think about that.
@FunakiEjectsAnother [#StartLambFaction] @Spurmania They have a HOFer in Duncan. The best coach. Parker. Ginobli. Green. Leonard. Splitter. Their coach insists on ball movement. Their coach doesn't run his stars into the ground in regular season games. Their coach holds every player on the roster to pull his link on the chain. His players respond to this in turn. Kind of like Bochy with the Giants.
@ThunderChick2010 @King of Carrot Flowers the third It was preseason.
@Spurmania TSN model has them No. 1 again. Best coach in the business.
TSN model pretty much has its WC list in place. But I'm going to sleep on it one more night. The Lakers have fucked me two seasons in a row.. Just want to make sure the Lakers don't do it to the model again.
@ThunderChick2010 @FunakiEjectsAnother [#StartLambFaction] @Thunder_Blue TSN model has Suns at No. 10. They came out of nowhere last season. Teams will take them more seriously this season.

@GlendaGonzales @El Prez We're newsoksports Facebook refugees on here. Like Haitians sprawled on rafts drifted ashore on a sandy beach in Cuba.
@GlendaGonzales @El Prez They know who their audience is...primarily, I would guess younger males. Kind of like this blog. I would guestimate a good chunk of the traffic on this site comes from males under thirty or so. I didn't become a father until I was thirty. That's when I kind of 'grew up.'
@GlendaGonzales @El Prez I like Herbie for college football. He's solid.
@GlendaGonzales The 30/30 movies are excellent. Did you watch When the Garden Was Eden last night? Hope Brooks watched it so as he can learn an offensive system with ball movement. Jerry Lucas was a hoot. Loved the way Lucas got under Jerry West's skin. Loved the part where Cazzie Russell called Willis Reed an Uncle Tom, yet Willis handled it with a deft touch instead of just beating him to death. Great movie. Dean 'The Dream' Meminger, wonder how many of the metric kids remember him? That is the part of Simmons I tolerate...his passion for the history, stars and legacy of the NBA. If you get a chance, read his book. Can't wait for the second volume.
@d21 The Kings are so stupid they don't even understand self preservation. This is about preservation for the rest of the league from New York and LA in my mind and somewhat neutralizing their bank vaults.
2 days, 19 hours ago on Wednesday Bolts – 10.22.14
@_justin @L0rv @El Prez No. OKC doesn't move the ball consistently enough. Durant is an offensive mismatch in the Thunder's favor every possession regardless of the sparse ball movement at times. This is the OKC offensive system with Westbrook having his moments. Reggie Jackson will be the key during Durant's absence. Can Reggie really run with the Big Dogs night in and night out without Durant?
On the Portland comparison...LMA and Lillard are far more dependable No. 1 and No 2 options than Russell and Reggie. Plus, I would give them the nod at center with Lopez.
TSN projection teaser...Portland at No. 7.
@L0rv @El Prez Once they get Durant back in form, they'll be the second best team in the West behind the Spurs. The question in my mind is how big of a cushion the Clippers and perhaps either the Rockets, Warriors or Grizzlies will garner on the Thunder during Durant's absence. Memphis always intrigues me. They had to deal with Gasol's down time last season, finished as the hottest team in the West coming out of the break, yet could finish no better than the No. 7 seed.
@_justin @El Prez Let me be clear, without Durant I see OKC as a team like maybe the Phoenix Suns. On the bubble for making the playoffs in the brutal Western Conference.
Thunder's first six games...@ Portland, @ Clippers, Denver, @ Brooklyn, @ Toronto, and Memphis. Not an easy start for a team in temporary remake mode. I'm glad I still haven't submitted my Western Conference projections. Hard to get a feel how many seeding spots OKC will drop due to KD's injury. I'm hoping there is no prolonged down time for KD beyond early December, but if it goes ten or fifteen games longer than the initial projection not sure how far the Thunder will drop. The West is not the East. Every game is a dogfight. The WC Contest will be interesting since so many on here see everything through Thunder Blue lenses. I think a prudent move might be to hedge the Thunder at No. 4, maybe No. 3.
@Tvaddic Not much of a game. Two run first inning homer by Hunter Pence. Then seven standard post season innings by Madison Bumgarner on the road. 7-1 Giants. Ten of the last eleven teams to win Game 1 have gone on to win the World Series. You have to figure if it goes seven ...the Big Boy will be there on the mound for Game 7.
