@okcjim  Agreed. He's needed on this team. Not 9.6 million worth, but he's needed to fill a role.

@okcjim @Wild Wild Westbrook *temporarily* formerly Tvaddic  You can stagger them when Reggie gets back on the floor. Serge cannot create offense for himself. He needs someone else to create his space and time.

Just get Reggie back and Telfair off the floor and it will help a great deal. I'm not into moral victories, but I was pleasantly surprised for the most part. I don't think it matters who starts between Perk and Adams, Brooks just needs to be fluid depending on the game and situation. Liked what I saw from Roberson. When OKC gets its rotation down to KD, Russell, Serge, Reggie, Adams, Roberson, Morrow, Perk and Collison....that will be as good as any rotation of players in the league. How Brooks configures those nine is up for debate. Nice blend of scoring, defense, rebounding and some outside shooting. Just have to be patient and ride through this segment of the season.

BTW ...congrats to the Giants and Royals for a fun World Series. One for the ages with what Bumgarner did out there. Bochy just gave his horse the ball and said...win. And that was that.

Thought we played smart, hard basketball for three periods. Without Durant, Jackson and Morrow this lineup has obvious offensive issues. But they played hard. They just have very little outside shooting without those three guys. This is about what should have been expected. Some nice things. Some learning...pretty much like it should be tomorrow night as well. No need to jump off a bridge because this is just the way it's going to be against good teams until these three guys begin filtering back onto the floor. The nine guys out there played hard. That's all you ask as a fan.

@Perk-Punt @El Prez  Assuming Jackson and Lamb get back this week-end, they should be close to a .500 or so type team.

Hope the Thunder fan base is intelligent and patient as OKC works through these first twenty games or so. I'm not on Matt Pinto's boat saying OKC is a .600 type team without Durant, but I do think there are an awful lot of mediocre teams in the NBA and playing close to .500 ball without Durant for twenty games or so is possible for a short period of time once Jackson gets back.

@_justin @El Prez @GlendaGonzales I think if Brooks works it right he should get decent offensive production out of Westbrook, Jackson, Ibaka, Adams and Lamb. He's going to have be extremely fluid, experiment and roll scoring combinations like a hockey coach. These first two games will be hard to watch offensively.

@GlendaGonzales @El Prez  To me a trend in play is something you can control by preparation, effort and coaching. This has just been an awful stretch of bad luck. Having said that, it would be interesting to see Pop coach this team through the first twenty games and see what the record would be.

I've never been a fan of any team in any sport which is coming out of the starting gate decimated like this by so many injuries. The only thing close is that OU football season where Bradford and Gresham got hurt early, then one injury after another just kept coming till OU could barely field an offensive line in the Bedlam finale against O State in Norman. OKC just needs to get through these first two games without any more injuries. Get Reggie and Lamb back for the Saturday game against Denver. Get the bench back in order, then settle in and beat Denver, Brooklyn, Sacramento and Milwaukee between now and November 11th to be 4-4. Brooks is going to have to be very smart about this until KD and Morrow get back. Pick your spots. Just stay afloat and don't dig too deep of a hole. These first two games could get very ugly without Jackson. I'm already mentally prepared for a very tough two game road trip. Very tough way to open a season.

@tygablood @El Prez That was the whole crux of the movie. He lack of a relationship with his father. His father/son like relationship with Switzer, and why the Boz ever emerged in the first place.

@Old Man Game @El Prez  No. High school football and the World Series had my attention. I don't get into hockey until it starts getting cooler outside. You should try the occasional OU or UCO ACHA DI games at Artic Edge here in Edmond. Five bucks and some pretty fun hockey when OU plays at UCO. There's a real history in that rivalry.

@Kong Lambchop @El Prez  His play has leveled off. The OU defense has been a major disappointment. Nothing special at all about OU's defense. On a neutral field, Michigan State would be about three point favorite except for the betters in Oklahoma.

Boz movie was good. Fun to look back at that period of OU football. I'd forgotten all about the book. You can see how seriously I took the Boz as an author. I think the movie could have been better had they  delved even deeper into with his relationship with his father. Best college linebacker I ever saw at OU. Period.

Very much a weird, blah feeling as the season gets set to tip. Hard to believe OKC has been hit like this with injuries. Surreal, and not in a good way. It will be hard to watch these games and channel emotions. I wonder where these last two injuries put Telfair's minutes. I wonder how heavy Brooks will go on Westbrook and Ibaka since they've both been recently injured as well. Horrible sports  year in Oklahoma so far this October. OU probably the biggest national disappointment in college football as far as challenging for The Final Four. O State on the cusp of a freefall to 5-7 if they can't beat Texas, Tulsa  at 1-6. Tough autumn of sports so far in Oklahoma.

Good football game. All this talk of Dallas being great should now level off. There are no great football teams in the NFL. Some good ones, but no great ones. Seattle and San Fran both currently fangless defensive football teams. Denver with their off season improvements on defense appears to be the best, but I'd want to see what the Niners look like once they get their linebackers back. Justin...what is the prognosis for Bowman?

Pauli and I were walking at dusk just on the edge of the forest when an unleashed lab mix came at us full speed growling. Pauli in her pink collar and general diva appearance didn't seem like a threat to the larger dog. As the dog got to within thirty yards or so, Pauli went into full fang mode. The dog stopped in his tracks. Froze. Then ran away. Pauli winked at me and nuzzled against my leg. The end.

Just read Darnell's piece on who will start at center...he makes some interesting points. With all the injuries, a very tough decision because if you start Adams you basically will get nothing out of Perk coming off the bench. With all these injuries maybe it's more important to maximize every player left standing right now versus the who gets the starting position. I first thought it a no brainer to start Adams, but as more players have gone down or have gotten banged up, maybe the best way to go is to start Russ, Reggie, Serge, Perk and Roberson. Tough coaching decision. A lot to consider team wise beyond just Adams' obvious offensive improvement.

@King of Carrot Flowers the third @OBoy (LaFamilia) @Daft_Drunk @El Prez  It's basically a school district located west of Edmond out in rural northern Oklahoma County. Last time I checked there were only three businesses which paid business ad valorem taxes...a feed store, a fence company and a gas station. People locate there because of the school system. Real estate taxes are ridiculous, but that's primarily the only source of revenue to fund the school system.
