Since when is the cap 24 million?? Chicago wouldn't trade Kane for Hank when they already have Crawford so it would be pointless. No way you keep him in the division unless the returning player is named Crosby. And Datsyuk and the Sedins are passed their prime. How do you figure any those deals work?

He would be playing for Hartford and taking the bus to play a game at Bridgeport, whereas in NY they would be flying to away games.

And at the same time, without Richards, the team doesn't even sniff the ECF.
1 year, 5 months ago on Nash Injuries Foot; Richards to Wing; Callahan Rules Himself Out of Opener; Hagelin to LTIR
All the more reasons to trade him. He actually has value!! Pyatt doesn't have any. He doesn't bring anything that teams couldn't find on the free agent market for less money.
1 year, 7 months ago on Stepan Signing Will Likely Leave Deserving Players Off Roster
A.) There is absolutely no possible chance of Anton Stralman being sent down. The guy took MDZs spot on the second pair last year! He's the most underrated defenseman on the team. And B.) Buyout MDZ? Are you nuts?? He's a 22 year old defenseman that's still 3-4 years from entering his prime!! You don't buy out players like that! Teams pay hefty price tags for players like him in the trade market.
That being said, trade Boyle! Pyatt has no trade value. And I personally refuse to give up on MDZ given his age and potential.
We have 9 NHL defenseman on the roster with the additions of Falk, Syvret, and Johnson. We have the depth on d to move Del Zotto should need be.
8 years is max contact length.

Very true!lol Not to mention he'll throw a hit and drop his gloves.

Dominic Moore brings the same type of skill set as Boyle.
That's called sarcasm.
1 year, 8 months ago on Rangers Officially Name Samuelsson, Arniel Assistant Coaches
We won't get stuck with him. Simply put, if he plays like he did last year, his ass will be in the press box the second half of the season to make sure he's healthy.
1 year, 8 months ago on Rangers Obtain Falk
No he just doesn't believe that the Rangers need to make a splash during the offseason every year to be successful. It's amazing how fast everyone went from "stay the course" with the young home grown talent, To "we need to spend" or way to success. It was that thinking that killed this team for years.
Really thought you had something going there up until you seemed to imply that Nash could be a buyout victim had Richards has a better year. Hope it was just not being able to convey sarcasm through social media? As long as thats the case, then I'm with you!
If you need an answer to that then you really need to actually watch Zucc play!
A thirty eight year old Marty St. Louis led the league in scoring this year so please stop making excuses for the "30 year olds". And besides, Close was only 30. No reason to not be prepared for the season even without camp. It's not like we're talking about someone who's 38.. Oh wait, the 38 year was prepared. Yes clowe has value and this team could use him but after two concussions in less than a month, he'll be a constant risk with his style of play. And if he can't play his style, he's not worth having.
Want to see how nieves does at the world junior camp. Would like to see him push for a spot in Hartford. Kid is fun to watch.

This team has more skill than the 11-12 team!!! Last I checked our bottom six was pretty fun awful during that playoff run.
-Jack- How can you say they didn't over achieve in 11-12? Any person on here who says they expected us to finish atop the east is flat out lying! That team was not that talented. For Christ's sake we talk about losing Fed and Prust like they were perennial all stars. He was Brandon Prust!!! Nobody even knew who he was coming in. That season was a huge over achievement where Torts was able to get the most out of a team that wasn't very talented. We were a 4or 5 seed at best in 11-12.
Kinda like Duclair. Really wish we had snagged Subban though.
Did you read the Russians scoring report?? The kid doesn't even know what defense is! We'll be lucky if he's the next Zherdev, let alone Datsyuk.
Yes he's been there and he's been an asset. But just because a department head position opens up, you don't just promote the Human Resources guy to lead your IT department. Sather gave him the courtesy of an interview at which point I think Sather realized that Mess was not qualified. We constantly rip Sather for his decision making but this time he made the right choice.
1 year, 8 months ago on Messier Says Sather Asked Him to Coach
Gilbert??? Greschner??? Hadfield??? Bathgate???
There's just no getting through to idiots like you. And since I know it all, Richards signed a 60 million dollar contract, not 90. So keep making shit up buddy.
1 year, 8 months ago on Richards Might Not Be Bought Out
NM.... the fact that you have a post suggesting we trade Staal tells everything we need to know about your hockey knowledge. Go watch the mets dude.
Get some defensemen on the team?? What team are you watching?? Do you even watch hockey?? And we only had 4 everyday players on the roster that are less than 6'. So what the hell are you talking about??
You obviously know nothing about the business side of hockey. Far too risky to keep him around. He's not going to return to a point per game player so he's not worth 6 million a year and if he gets hurt we can't buy him out at all. Far too risky risky. And of course the ticket prices went up. It's the nature of the business! Especially as the NHL's popularity has grown since the last lockout. And Dolan is dumping his own cash into a billion renovation to MSG. Did you think he was being charitable?? They need to get Richards of the books. Period.
Ritchie costs the Rangers 2/3 to buy him out. None of which counts against the cap. Dolan's pockets can handle picking up the tab on Richie.
Didn't conduct himself like a pro?? You do realize he wasn't ready for the season because he was dedicating all of his time to Hurricane Sandy relief, right? Brad Richards did more for New York than any championship ever could.
You can't restructure contacts in the NHL.

Hasn't won anything?? Two SEL championships, Olympic gold metal in Turin, 5 vezina nominations, and soon to be 2nd vezina win. The guy has won just about everything he possibly can by himself!!!
Take a breath and chill the f out dude! Media is playing this shit. He only said "We'll see" when asked if there were plans in place to negogiate an extension this summer, and not in the sense that he's not sure he wants to resign like everyone is making it seem. He's not going anywhere.
Torts system didnt suffocate anyone. Both Stepan and Nash were on pace for 30+ goal seasons had it been a full 82 games. Gaborik scored 40 twice in this system. And have you watched the Bruins play?? Same system! The system works! Yes the PP sucks but lets face it, DZ is not the answer on the point and Richards is done. He'll be 33 and he's not worth his pay grade. He may return next season but anything less than a point per game season and a cup, he'll still be a compliance buyout after the 13-14 season.

2 years ago on Avs May Have Asked for Miller or Kreider Along With Del Zotto for O'Reilly
Another thing to look at is where does Kreider currently sit in Slats' eyes. Before leaving BC he was untouchable because we didn't know what his speed could bring. After the playoffs he was untouchable because we saw what his speed could bring. Now, after struggling mightily these first 13 games, does Slats still view him as untouchable?? Or could he move him for a a kid who's the same age but with a more developed and complete game? I think it may be getting to the point where we may value Kreider a little more than Sather does.
Here's the deal with oreilly. The kid doesn't have the offensive numbers to ask for 5 mill. Where the kid does the earn the money he'll eventually get is in the defensive zone. More takeaways than Datsyuk and a top face off guy. And only 46PM over 3 seasons. Defensively responsible and no stupid penalties. Torts would love this kid. Dubinsky couldn't carry this kids jock in the D zone.
@erichan Look on the bright side, the winter olympics take place early in the year. So you really only have to wait about 18 months!!!

@genetics73 you know grammar, but you don't know shit about hockey. Yep Kevin is still far more interesting than you. Do yourself a favor and make better use of your free time. Like repainting the white panel van in your driveway. Removing the "free puppies" sign on the side may be a good idea also. The amber alert has sounded so I'm sure they're closing in on you!

Can someone find me one incident other than the Schenn incident that suggests that Asham is any dirtier than guys like Rupp or Prust. Let not forget Prust's blatant elbow that he got a game for. To this point how anyone who has only been suspended or fined once in his entire career can be considered dirty is beyond me. Living in the Pittsburgh market I've seen more of asham than most and he's physical, but not dirty. Hes the kind of player that every player wants as a teammate. He's relentless in his defense of his team. The bullshit that happened in the Ottawa series doesn't happen with Asham on the ice. Too many times Prust and Rupp let guys off the hook. Asham won't. I haven't heard a single teammate of his say anything bad about his attitude in the room either.
