Remember the good ol' days when people could have unpublished thoughts?  I am tired of these kids plastering themselves out there where we can all "enjoy" their idiocy with them.  I don't blame twitter for Manziel looking like a goober... I just blame twitter for always being reminded of it.  I was once decent friends with a Razorback football player that was a total tool, nowadays that information isn't reserved for close acquaintances.  Manziel news "grabs a hold of me tightly, flow like a harpoon daily and nightly, will it ever stop?!"  By the way, LOVE the Vanilla Ice this morning John (& 5LittlePiggies).

Hard not to be nervous with things in the Ozarks.  I am BB fan and his staff seems to be outstanding.  Do they have something up their sleeve?  Why have they let several recruits out of their commitment but don't seem to be getting a ton of new commits?  Not panicking, just nervous.  Would love to hear your take on the situation.

O this sucks.  This is getting really sloppy.  I started out looking forward to this search and enjoying some news besides getting beat every week.  Now I just want it to be over.  Why is there so many names and so much news surrounding our search... It seems way more public than the other SEC schools (except maybe Tennessee/Gruden).  Is this Long's fault?  If so, I am quickly loosing confidence in him.  If all this talk is just agents being agents, why don't they go "be agents" with Auburn and leave us alone?

As a Hog fan, I won't get itchy for another week and I wish my fellow fans would do the same.  It's true that our season is over but several teams will be playing this weekend.  Long has dealt with OUR season by canning John L, but until the whole FBS regular season is in the books I think we should be patient.  I will trust Long until I have substantial reason not to, which may come in a week!

I am glad the Hogs are swinging for the fences but, if this report is true, I can't help but feel we dodged a little bit of a bullet.  I wanna pay the big bucks and get the big guys, but anyone wanting to "try their hand" at this scares me.  Gruden is flashy but I doubt he'd ever really be all in with college football in general and the Hogs in particular.  Not to mention he might not actually be the boots-on-the-ground answer we really need in Fayetteville.  This is not sour grapes; I just don't think he hung the moon like some people do.

I love your coverage of these rumors.  As a Hog fan, I can tell you I am both bored with this season and interested in even the far-flung rumors.  But your justified cynicism is really appreciated and I like that you tend to find the whole thing almost funny... which we all should.  My short list for the Hogs is Sean Payton as head coach.  Santa Clause could be the OC with his air attack giving Saban fits, while the Tooth Fairy could run a pretty stingy defense.  I am holding my breath!  Thanks for your work.

It may have been bad taste for LSU to photoshop the pics but, as a pastor, I can tell you I think it is fairly bad taste to marry Christian images and our college football fever.

I know Wilson's statements may be have been controversial and possibly ill-advised, but they were also incredibly refreshing.  Something is missing with this team.  They DO look like they have given up - both the players and the coaches.  I think I could call as good a plays as they've called, and the players looks soft... really soft.  Anyway, it was nice to hear someone actually mention the elephant in the room.  A 20-something should not have to do it but I've given up hope that the 60-something is ever gonna say anything satisfying!

@Hogitall O man... I have missed Aggie jokes.  I used to have a book of them as a kid!  Glad to have them back around.

I respect the decision, and am glad our program took a stand... but man... what happens now?  I don't think BMFP's come by real often.

Thanks for this insightful article. I, like most Hog fans, am completely bewildered by the "star" talk. Even this year, after our BCS appearance, we are still near the bottom of the SEC according to Rivals (at least at the moment). I didn't think that was supposed to happen. Anyway, I think your post gets to the heart of some of the bewilderment. We get more out of our recruits' starts than others might. I think most Hog fans do not identify with being in the bottom tier of the SEC but that is where our recruiting seems to rank. No wonder we have such a love/hate relationship to the star ratings. It is helpful to hear from an outsider that our stars and our program seem to be at odds with one another.

Okay, maybe I am wrong, but drama seems to follow Malzahn. The Springdale Five thing, Cam Newton, and now Dyer. There was supposedly total drama amidst the coaching staff at Arkansas while he was there - very high schoolish from what I hear. I am not blaming Malzahn necessarily (Nutt was/is a train wreck), but would I be totally off to say he has some drama that comes with him? I have wondered if Malzahn is willing to coddle egos from players when someone like Chizik is not. Tthe Springdale Five seemed to need coddling. Certainly Dyer needs it. Just curious.

Thanks for your great coverage.
