@Bueller @SmellyKisio ok true, but still that Sakic-esque snapshot from the circle beat a real NHL goalie like he was a mite.

did haggerty really blow around the outside twice like it was nothing? imagine 2 hags on one line? duclair is a breakaway threat every shift as well. DAMN this is gonna be a good team. perfect retool

I normally lean slightly toward the cautious approach, but something about this kid screams NOW. He was electric out there and the most noticeable player most of the game. There was a play when he entered the zone with 2 lighting quick stick handling maneuvers like it was nothing, which opened my eyes wider than the goal or the crazy-creative setup when he dished to Nash after back checking, stealing the puck and creating the offense single-handedly… Oh yes, he also had chemistry with Nick Rash, which is no small deal. Quick, creative and responsible, good head on shoulders. Sign him up. With a great mix of youth and veterans, and exactly the right coach, this is the right type of team to take a chance on a possible superstar teen. It makes sense to give Duclair a real shot, now.

I don't know what Stralman's whining about. The Rangers DID make him an offer, so his point about just wanting Boyle all along makes no sense.

Some topical shit up in here

Love this, Kevin. You couldn't be more spot on. And creating that culture then makes young guys choose the Rangers, when it comes down to 2 or 3 teams vying. We just saw it happen last week. Also, don't think being relatively rich and young and potentially famous in NYC doesn't carry a ton of weight. These college kids want tail, and there is nowhere even close to NYC for that. LGR!!!!!
Chicago drafts well. Nyr?....eh. Let's do this every year!

Plus we have him cheap, at least for a bit. And gotta assume this is MSL's last expensive year, unless he goes ahead and wins a scoring title, which is entirely possible. So psyched about this kid, we
Kinda hit the jackpot. Is it possible this was already a "done deal" between friends when Sather traded the top pick for MSL.
One can only speculate

Love it. Would be fun to see him with MSL sometimes too.

Ugh... Uncle Jessiman....
Brilliant idea to replace Poulioit with Nash on that line. If Nash can even somewhat resemble a power forward and regain a scoring touch and confidence, he can vastly improve
What was already one of the leagues most creative and entertaining and dangerous lines with the pooper. And Nash doesn't take penalties.
@TomDundie @SmellyKisio @Say my Name Relax, I am a 30-year Ranger fan, I get it... And I am a Girardi fan, but please be honest, that finals was one of his worst stretches as a ranger. That one giveaway cost us exactly one game in the finals... how can you argue that?
Do you think the ref was correct in NOT calling interference or at least calling off the goal? That call cost us exactly one more game. directly. If we're up 4-2 and going on PP, we take that game.
The call against zucc, when he was the one tripped, allowed the kings to score and force OT. without that call, we win that game as well.
Of course there are more factors, EVERY shift and EVERY bounce plays into the overall outcome. But those 3 instances were the most direct causes for a loss as there can be, short of an own-goal.
....Oh also he let Gabby get jumped.

@TomDundie i think trade him because we have no picks and he is the only thing valuable i'd be willing to part with.
@Say my Name wish they'd traded Girardi for someone with less.....I don't know......OT finals giveaways? him and those two calls, ugh.... still stings
We need picks... Or skinner
@_Jack @leftwingbarbara or at least hit the net

That would be HUGE
This lisp will last a lifetime
@Dante8496 much better at building than buying
Haha, maybe. I don't know though- you're either a head case or you're not, and if you are a head case, part of being said head case is that you can't control it. Anyway, what I meant more is that there's no way to predict that, and can't be gunshy when making contract based on that concern. Unfortunately, it seems to happen to about 80% of rangers

ok, but the facts are he was our best center last year
@IcyCup same here, he has incredible skills, and the confidence is building
@ivanricov totally out of anyone's control
@gravey94 he and zucc have a very special thing happening and played a big part in last year's run, despite not huge stats. 5 per, long term will prove a good deal. hopefully, those two can have a good enough line to open up some space for nash and finally get him out of hibernation
@KevinTheNYRBlog I agree. And if he keeps improving, this will be a very good value in 2 or 3 years, when he is still under 30. This will also mean very good trade value at that point, should we need it.
so is the cap hit 7 this year? or is it the average?
anything under 5 is great long term. he was our most reliable center last year and could get a shot at #1hood this season, depending
Good for D Moore, what a story. But seriously, 140k? When surrounded by teammates making a combined 60 million? Many with concussion history? Come on guys, lay it out!

Oops forgot to add:
I think AV is also too thoughtful to strip Girardi of the A right after he cost us 2 losses in the final
Tough call. I do like McD as captain, seems obvious. He's here for the long haul and is our 2nd most important player. Love MSL but this year could be it for him. Then there's the possible drama of taking letters away.
Zucc absolutely deserves the A, but
if there's one guy who can handle getting snubbed a bit, it's him.
I think it will be C for McD, A's Girardi and MSL.
Staal is good as gone- we need picks and he is the only thing valuable that we can part with.
When MSL is done, and zucc gets the precious (long term deal), zucc will finally get his A.... As an Islander. Kiddiiiiiiing.
@ObviouslyWeHadAGoodRun @SmellyKisio oh yeah, how did i forget that
@scrangersfan @SmellyKisio Hey look, I'm as happy as the next guy that he took less. But if he thinks this will factor into sather's or anyone else's consideration for the next contract, you're crazy. If he has a shitty year, he's not getting a good contract next year. And who could argue with that? this is honestly how every contract should be, but most folks prefer security. This is just another glorified "try out" and I don't know if it's Zucc's smartest play. Whatevs
Unfortunately, this entitles him to nothing. He takes all the risk in this situation. If he gets hurt, or just has a bad or even mediocre season, no one will care th the did this and will only want to give what his production warrants.
Yup especially since he probably has about 150 games left in him
@Gorangers0525 does feel weird that he'll make more than stepan. he will be close to 5 though
@Wallace1 @SmellyKisio woulda rather had heatley for 1/1
2 great moves by sather.
We'll have a little left after brass gets 5ish and Moore gets 1ish. Trade Staal to someone in need of a shutdown, get some future back for him, make some space for next years
Plus we will trade Staal this season. We need some picks and to dump a little.
Good move. First of all, MSL comes off the books next season, or at least signs for a couple million less, and the cap will go up again. More
MSL's money comes back after this year, or at least goes down (in theory) in his next contract, if he continues. so we'll get that. kreider's a keeper, no matter what.
sign and trade
Ah, off-season boredom

I have a good feeling about the kids over the next 2 seasons. We should have at least 2 or 3 good NHLers in that bunch, with Miller at the top of the list
