@RangersForte i think he is and we have good young D coming up… long as it's not much more than Staal

@gravey94 @RangersForte Wow I was gonna say 'who you calling young?'… didn't realize stall is only 27.  I'd still do it.  We have good prospects and Hall is a freak.  I could also see Tabot going the other way in a signs and trade.

Faceoffs

This faceoff issue is the biggest problem facing the Rangers right now- not a small problem either. We're a puck possession team and need to figure this out ASAP.

@MikeBlue Did we see the same fight?  beat into submission??? lol.  I understand the role, though there are less and less "enforcers" out there.  But you need to have skills regardless.  IMHO, whatever toughness he brings is completely negated by the fact that he is just not an NHL talent.  He totally botches just about any fast break or offensive development he's  a part of- he either shanks the puck, throws it randomly, fluttering, into open space.  Maybe if it wasn't a significant cap hit but the guys eating up space.  D Moore must be banging his head against the wall

When you take a look at a team like the Oilers, does the league really need to add another team to water things down even more?

Wow, I think we basically just went from having a questionable 4th line (compared to last year's), to having one that is stacked with Kreider now on it! What a difference a Miller makes.

And if the 4 lines roll evenly, who cares in Kreider is "top 6" or not. That's just semantics.

Rangers looking good, and yes McD will lead the way as he reaches 100%.

No letdown tonight!!!!!!!!!!!

Kreiders the one messing with our heads... We're like: "wait, didn't you used to be awesome?"

Glass scratched.

I like how AV does not play head games. Millers looked great, Kreider not at all since the first game where he was great. Easy decision there. He's not trying to light a fire under anyone or shame anyone, he's just making the best lineup he can each night. Something has happened to kreiders game this year- doesn't look blazing fast as he has before, seems unfocused in the hockey IQ department, always initiating contact even when he's first to a puck. Scoring a hardworking goal tonight could get him on track.

No more bank off the boards play where he streaks wide and....shoots wide. The league seems to have figured that out.

They actually did have Nash in front on the PP, just couldn't come close to cracking the perimeter, unless they were hitting the post from 10 degree angle.

JT looked good as did Hayes.

Nash well on his way to 40, which will mean about as much as his other 40 goal seasons in Columbus if we don't start playing consistently...

But for whom? No player with that big a contract is ever easy to trade, especially past 30. Also, there are so many fantastic goalies in the league, and honestly most teams already have one for cheaper. Any team with a center that would be fair trade for hank is on a team that already has the G position sorted out.

@J_CKfor30 Hank is still better, of course.  but Talbot is absolutely a #1 on most teams, and likely will be come playoff time, if traded.  Hank may find his game but he clearly will NEVER figure out how to handle the puck.  Seriously dude, get a squeeze ball, strengthen those wrists and learn how to take a wrist shot.  The lightning ran circles around us in our zone and all I'm saying is that could have been nipped in the bud on the dump in if Talbot were in net, bc he is great at handling the puck.  plus I think he would have stopped those 2 wrist shots.

2 weeks, 6 days ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/

Yeah Kreider looks like he just doesn't give a fuck out there, and is just trying to initiate contact, even when he's first to the puck. I'd put him in a suit and let JT jump on that line for now.

For teams like the lightning who are quick down low and get the puck deep, we will lose every time with hank. He cannot handle the puck- easily the worst puck handling goalie in the league. I thought richter was bad, yikes.

Talbot is one of the best at this, and would stop that forecheck before it starts.

Add 2 wrist shot goals from the slot on hank and it makes the case even stronger.

We have 2 #1 goalies and have to approach each game with the mindset of which will give a better chance against given opponent.

Tampa is a better version of the rangers.

I think one step toward beating a team like them TB, and call me crazy, playing Talbot.

It amazes me that Hank is a top 5 goalie despite his glaringly atrocious puck handling. It is inexcusable to have zero game in that department. When he plays the puck, he literally serves it up the other team, especially quick forechecking teams like TB... Not a few times, pretty much EVERY time!!! Wtf? Just strengthen those wrists and practice that shit. It's more embarrassing than shaq not being able to sink a free throw. Talbot plays the puck well and would have diffused many of those plays deep by TB tonight.

Another couple games like this by kre

What's Kreiders deal with Stralman? Seemed to be going after him all night.

Please no more glass. He blows.

Lost his man on the goal and can't keep up with quick passing and transition game the rangers need to be effective. How many potential odd-man rushes where he shanks it and just fizzles the momentum. Not even hitting muc- his is not a million dollar role.

Just looking at the bright side. We are

In very good shape right now. Bad losses will happen and let downs will happen, and yeah odds are we probably won't win the cup (that's true for every team), but we have a talented team that for the most part is fun to watch. Yay.

Wonder where Staal and talbot will wind up. That's an interesting package.

just coming out of the first quarter, we've been without some of our key players for much of that time and we are beating top teams 5-0.  I think we'll be in great shape.  this is a fun team to watch.

Ah yes, 7-7. I guess you can give AV credit for that. Pretty formidable considering we've been without stepan, McDonough and many others most of the season. I don't understand your beef with AV. I get it, you like it rough. But the rangers have never been that brand. This is a team built on speed and they have the right coach for that. Why do you even follow the rangers, they will never live down to your standards- plus I think Charlestown chiefs tickets are way cheaper anyway.

Loving Hayes!  For anyone questioning how AV is handling Duclair and generalizing him as not doing a the best job bringing young guys into the fold, just look at Hayes.  I am confident the Duke will be a star, but he may be redundant to the lineup in some games.  Just about every forward is speedy and has offensive skillz, hayes just happens to bring something different right now, including being a center.  I've definitely seen enough of Glass.  I understand why he's here, and he's fine, but would rather have that cap space at this point.

And let down?  I don't know, that seemed like a really good, fun hockey game to watch.  We gotta win some shootouts though- STEMPY shooting 3rd with Marty and Harty (nash) on the bench???

@johnnyb3910 @SmellyKisio you're right.  he needs to just take that shit to the cage.  get it on net at the very least.  valiquette's piece on shooting percentage was fascinating.  of those type of shots, where player enters zone and goalie has clear view, 1 of 34 go in!!!  on passes across the imaginary line perpendicular to the center of goal, 1 in 3 score because the goalie has to move.  of course, those passes are hard to connect, but still.  if you are quite possibly the fastest and strongest player in the NHL (which kreider may arguably be!!!), just take it to the net, eat up the D, draw a penalty or score, for pete's sake

When will Staal either learn how to get his shot on goal or just stop trying to shoot. It always winds around the boards and leads to a rush the other way. He was lumbering all night. Kostka is fired. Hunwick with another JV turnover. Yikes

@McPhee37 @Say my Name @IcyCup but the bottom line is winning yes?  you cannot argue with the fact that he is a proven winner as a coach, for two teams now...  and don't say he's not a winner because no cup.  whether or not you like his style, you can't argue with the overall effect he has had on the organization, and the culture here.  I saw you also say he was out-coached by berube in that series, which is insane!!!  If anything, Berube glaringly OVERCOACHED by overtinkering and over thinking the match ups…. Remember?

Answer me this- would you rather have a mediocre team that gives you 2 or 3 fights a game, or blinding team speed that exercises mental toughness over brawn?  Yes players should stick up for one another, but that's up to them, on the ice, never the coach. Any coach that tells a player to go after another player belongs in prison, to be quite honest.

So if you see a lack of toughness, blame the players.  they're all big tough boys, capable of standing up for themselves and their teammates.  i like where the game is today and where it's going- this is the game Mario Lemieux whined for throughout his career, and probably would get 200+ points in every year.

going to game tonight LGR!!!!!!
