the Twin Towers line was incredible- i want to see more of it. You were right about them being very similar players, zucc and little louis.

AWESOME! a grinder for a premier goal scorer. both player best days are behind, but if we get 50 goals out of St louis while hes here, i'll be psyched. I think they give the C to McDonaugh. he'll be here longer than stall

eventually pittsburgh will need to resign some/all of those guys and the wheels will fall off if they don't keep drafting well. thats just the nature of a cap-based league. I do see why they might not move callahan just for the sake of it. If they can't get someone good back, just think of callahan as the rental... not ideal, but gotta weigh what's best for now and the future. i feel like he just doesn't want to be here anymore, regardless of the stock answers he is giving the press. let him go play 60 games a season in buffalo.

cally for kessler is a no brainer. a shot at "old st louis" might be fun too. dooo it! dooo it! dooo it!!!

get him out of here and lets move on. you can't blame the agent. it's callahan. agents are just the mouthpiece, 'bad cop'. goodbye cally, you'll regret this.

I think it would just be Sather sticking to his guns and letting this thing run its natural coarse: No I am not giving you that kind of money, I will give you this amount... You won't take it? I want you to stay but I have to trade you for SOMETHING....(Phone rings in summer): Oh? No one else will pay you that kind of money you say? You say they only look at the stat sheet and injury report? Hmm, but you're a heart and soul player, don't they factor that in? No? Ok, well my offer still stands, see you in October... (match strikes, lights cigar): "Ah I love it when a plan comes together".... Prospect and Cally, for 3 weeks of his service to another team...

looking more and more like the rangers will trade him, then resign him in th off-season for maybe a smidge over sathers price. no one else is paying what cally wants

This is a smart piece. "Character" is certainly a nebulous term thrown around way too much when discussing certain players. And lesser skilled players sometimes do get a hall pass because of that... However, there is the other C word- "Chemistry", which is the most mysterious and elusive part of all sports. Sometimes a lesser skilled player will mesh astonishingly well with someone, whereas a more skilled player may not, and there is no real answer to that... But you must consider that THAT could have something to do with someone's "Character" meshing with another's.

@Nyrangers @SmellyKisio@Bring back Langdon
buffalo is not going to offer 7. no one pays asking. they will not offer 7 years. maybe 6. i think we'll get him for 6 and change for 5 years

@Bring back Langdon @SmellyKisio
I think remaining captain of the NYR means a lot to callahan, and sather will use that.... i think even if the rangers offer a little less than buffalo, he'll stick with the rangers. and sather will know exactly what that number is. with what he makes now, if they really want to live in buffalo (haha), he can fly via private jet to work everyday.
they're not gonna trade for anyone better than callahan this season, and I feel like we have as good a shot as any at making a run. just wait on this one, he's not going anywhere. Sather will make sure it's JUST barely worth it for him to stay, even if someone else is offereing a little more. Same goes for Girardi.
as a rental, tough to say. zilch if he gets hurt at the olympics
1 month ago on Callahan/Rangers Still Not Closer To Deal After Both Sides Talk
he's not going to walk because no team is going to give him a better deal or provide a better platform than the rangers, and he knows it.
Speaking of Richards- is a pay cut less humiliating than a buyout? think it's an option to just get him down to 4.5 where he belongs next season? probably more complicated than that
@NYrangers79 that would be 3rd after the richards buyout. of course he's asking for 7 so he gets 6years, but i just feel it's too long. he's not going anywhere unless another team offers sather something he can't refuse. he's not gonna walk as a free agent. Nash and Lundqist would command that price tag on ANY team in the league, Callahan and Richards would not. That's the bottom line
Simple: because the Rangers are most likely bettr off WITH him for this season, and they likely won't get anything truly worthy in return. Plus, come one, hes not going to walk away because no one is going to give him what he is asking for and he will see that it is best for him to sign with the rangers, who will give him a fair deal. If nothing presents itself trade-wise, Sather should just ignore it for now. the team is looking great. Call his bluff. He'll stay for 5 years at 6 per.
if we can't get anything decent in trade, just hold on to him til summer. he'll see the best offer is with the rangers, all things considered. he might even get close to 6 million dollars if he stays. pretty good for someone who will average 60-65 games from here on
