@ObviouslyTwoPointsAreGreat He'll get us more than a few extra breakaways even strength, that's for sure.  looked very creative right away on that PP too.  OH BOY!!!

This team just got so much deadlier with Yandle.  Yes of course PP will benefit… But with every line having a real breakaway threat to consider on every shift (Nash, Kreider, Hags, etc), this guy's ability to stretch pass brings a whole new level of terrifying to the offense.  A perfect final weapon to this formidable team.  So much fun to watch us dominate the best team in the league.  scratch that, second best team in the league.  L G R!!!!!!

@gravey94 @KevinMccarthy yes.  bottom line is, some teams are in position to make a "now" move and some are not.  rangers are in that position, and why not go for it.  bravo slats, he has built a great team here

@betweentheworlds i don't think he gets a cent more than this on the open market and his stay in the league will always be questioned (unfairly) because of his size.  He has proven himself and found a fit in NYC and doesn't want to have to start per somewhere else.  I assume Sather understood this and played on that, rightfully.  Part of the game i guess.  the cap sucks.  Glad zuke is staying, he is a special type of player

@TheKing @SmellyKisio Oh it definitely stings to lose him.  He looked great and I'm sure he'll be a good player (though you never really "know").  I'm just saying, the team is already built full of speed and skilled forwards for the next few years.  What we have badly needed for years is a true offensive D man and Yandle is the real deal.  I'm also of the mindset that if you have a shot now, go for it.  And I really think we do.  Giving up something in a trade is part of the game.  We're still young and deep

@Zelrio @JoeyKocur Susan Boyle could do a better job QB'ing this power play.  That fake shot and sidestep may have worked 3 shades of grey ago, but no longer.  he really has looked a step behind this year.  Couple good games, but he used to really be a factor, now he's third pair.  If the rangers thought he was good and really thought those analytics held up, they wouldn't have gone out and gotten Yandle to be what they thought they had in Boyle.  And as soon as the rangers have to pay his full salary, there will be no Boyle.  You can cite the analytics all you like, but he's been a disappointment, i think.  Did not come as advertised.

@TheKing it's a 'now' move.  half price on one of the best offensive D men in league is nice.  we have plenty of speed.  Duclair is great, but redundant on this team.  we got exactly what we needed.  Coyotes pay half his salary next year, then we shed Boyle and MSL and have room.

The cap sucks.  It has watered down the league.  your team can be good… for a while… but not too good.

you can draft well, and keep those guys until they get good.  Fact of the matter is, Zuke deserves what he is asking for, if you compare it to other players getting the same.  And that's the only way to measure it.  He is one of the most valuable players on this team, and we are going to lose him because of the cap.  We will never see teams develop years of chemistry bc once all your players get good enough, they deserve more money and the team has to split up.  That's busted.

Yeah, it would be a downgrade offensively from zucc.  We need to just hold onto Zucc for this run, even if it means possibly losing him to FA offseason.  It's simply our best "now" option.  And that's the way we should be thinking, especially with Hank getting a month off this season and fresh as a Swedish Daisy for the playoffs.  I hope they keep Zucc, he is a one-of-a-kind and he has proven over the years that he makes his line mates better. NASH.  keep him, and deal with it later- not the ideal situation, but that's prudent for now while we are surging.  You never know, someone else may get hurt or retire etc….

Stepan is a true Number 1 center, period. But it just so happens our number 1 left wing is possibly the league MVP this year, and his line gets top billing. I'd say talbot has been good but he may have let the puck handling praise get to his head. At least 2 or 3 gaffes per game, including one that would have cost a gimme goal last night. Don't be a hero back there, hextall, just get us through til hank is back!! Good to see Dubi an important player. But his hockey IQ still sucks, so he'll never fully live up to what he could be

I disagree Neill, seems this was the way to beat the Isles.  run and gun, Defensemen jumping into the play.  The other way, whatever we did the last few times, was clearly a much worse approach given the result.  I think they decided to just go for broke and see what happens.  yes there were turnovers, which will happen in that style of a game, but Talbot let in 3 bad goals tonight.  Halak let in one bad one, so I'm gonna call it a 5-3 ranger win, arbitrarily.  Look we just beat arguably the best team in the league.  I didn't think Glass was good- it is now glaring that his teammates just don't pass to him because he has no skills and always turns the puck over or ices it.  Girardi did feed him that tap-in goal but he completely missed.  i guess he didn't cost us any goals tonight so that's an improvement.

Big win, fun game!  Isles fans are quite lame, that's why the team is moving just when it gets good again.

I don't know, I still like the St. Louis trade. We were losing callahan anyway and MSL was a "now" trade, meaning last spring- and largely thanks to him we almost took it all. Now, he looks washed up but hey, I think he still has a good spring in him. We'll see. Plus we stole Hayes as our 1st rounder. He is a superstar.

Hayes is a beast. So funny- you see him look up, see that it's Glass, and then just take it himself .... Some players just seem to have that ability to hold onto the puck for an extra 3 or 4 seconds, which is an eternity. Lemieux was the best at that, he just froze people and it was like the game was in slow motion for him- I see a bit of that in Hayes. Kreider dominated this game. That may have been one of his best games as a ranger.

Good thing reimer allowed the stinker of the season on that Moore floater!  Talbot's fine.  Maybe this stretch will just get the rangers thinking they need to score 4+ to win, and maybe that will continue if/when Hank comes back…  I'm worried about that.  They say he will be "re-evaluated" in a few weeks… doesn't mean he's definitely coming back.  When there's talk about possible stroke, that's terrifying.  Still, mid-stroke, I think Hank stops the robidas shot.  Staal is looking confident, which is the elusive ingredient for any player.  he's got offense in his Staal blood, so he should just go for it more, like last night.  it's worth it.

@Billfrom Brookhaven Ooh, yeah that does suck….  thing is, we kinda could use a deal where we shed a few guys, which dumps salary and makes way for young talent next year…  seems like that's gonna be the worst thing about the cap system…  you can draft and develop great players, then inevitably won't be able to keep but half of them, especially if they thrive.

@rangermom @Rangerfan99 @SmellyKisio For instance, Messier, in his prime of nastiness and talent, delivers a one-and-done punch there.  not that kreider has  quite that talent, but gotta strike the fear every so often.  People can target Kreider all they want.  he is bigger and stronger than 99%.  and it's good to have a target sometimes- the refs catch on to that and give PPs… well, if you're not the rangers :(…  hope we find our stride again

Kreider needs to just fully commit to the nasty streak. If he just drops Subban there with one punch, he buys himself space and no ones messes with him. Which should equate to some 30 goal seasons. #identitykreisis

@KarenMaz @SmellyKisio @NJRangers81 I agree, AV has been too hard on him.  last year he seemed to chalk it up to Miller having issues with "professionalism"… translation "he's a kid who just got money and is an irresponsible jerk and shows up late and hung over to practice"…. probably an exaggeration, but whatever.  This year he has mostly stood out as a huge positive, and I am a fan.  my barometer is, and I can't point out exactly which plays, if I happen to notice someone make 3 or more bad plays, and they don't go on to score in OT or something for redemption, then they had a bad game… I'm just saying he had a rare (of late) bad game, along with other Rangers, yes… More importantly, I'm saying that having a bad game, and showing how you bounce back from a bad game, is part of the growth process.  i think it's time AV gives him that.  unless he just happens to think the lineup against MTL is better otherwise, in which case I'm not going to claim to know how to make a lineup better than AV.

@MikeBlue We are overall a more talented, more fun team to watch than the past couple years.  But we are 2 or 3 true role players shy of truly rounded team that can matchup against any style team.  Boyle, even Carcillo and Dorsett are badly missed in the makeup.  Yes we will still skate circles around most teams, but are finding that will not be the case against the few teams where everything has aligned and have found the right balance- islanders, tampa, bruins, etc…  And listen it is extremely rare to find that perfect makeup, and we are relatively close… but 2 or 3 players away is kind of a lot, especially in the cap system…  Expecting tanner Glass to be that whole role for the team is ridiculous, in fairness to him.  Also, he just doesn't have the talent that even the grittiest of grinders are required to have to play in the league nowadays.  Boyle had it, Dorsett pretty much had it, Prust certainly had it.  Those players bring cups, which is why sadly I think Callahan will have more last laughs over the next 5 years in tampa.

Anycrap, still winning lots of games, LGR!!!
