Kreider needs to just fully commit to the nasty streak. If he just drops Subban there with one punch, he buys himself space and no ones messes with him. Which should equate to some 30 goal seasons. #identitykreisis

@KarenMaz @SmellyKisio @NJRangers81 I agree, AV has been too hard on him. last year he seemed to chalk it up to Miller having issues with "professionalism"… translation "he's a kid who just got money and is an irresponsible jerk and shows up late and hung over to practice"…. probably an exaggeration, but whatever. This year he has mostly stood out as a huge positive, and I am a fan. my barometer is, and I can't point out exactly which plays, if I happen to notice someone make 3 or more bad plays, and they don't go on to score in OT or something for redemption, then they had a bad game… I'm just saying he had a rare (of late) bad game, along with other Rangers, yes… More importantly, I'm saying that having a bad game, and showing how you bounce back from a bad game, is part of the growth process. i think it's time AV gives him that. unless he just happens to think the lineup against MTL is better otherwise, in which case I'm not going to claim to know how to make a lineup better than AV.

@MikeBlue We are overall a more talented, more fun team to watch than the past couple years. But we are 2 or 3 true role players shy of truly rounded team that can matchup against any style team. Boyle, even Carcillo and Dorsett are badly missed in the makeup. Yes we will still skate circles around most teams, but are finding that will not be the case against the few teams where everything has aligned and have found the right balance- islanders, tampa, bruins, etc… And listen it is extremely rare to find that perfect makeup, and we are relatively close… but 2 or 3 players away is kind of a lot, especially in the cap system… Expecting tanner Glass to be that whole role for the team is ridiculous, in fairness to him. Also, he just doesn't have the talent that even the grittiest of grinders are required to have to play in the league nowadays. Boyle had it, Dorsett pretty much had it, Prust certainly had it. Those players bring cups, which is why sadly I think Callahan will have more last laughs over the next 5 years in tampa.
Anycrap, still winning lots of games, LGR!!!

@NJRangers81 I think you're right. He had a BRUTAL game against the Islanders with countless turnovers and poor positioning, but you have to let him have some bad games and play through it.

yup, could be looking at Talbot and Staal (sign and trade) in a package that could bring back a lot. oilers?

@TomDundie to lock him in at that price is great think. if you let him go, you're paying somebody that money or more in two or three years who may not be as good

if glass can keep up, and throw a couple hits on Sindy to throw him off his game, could be worth it. Although Miller doing such a thing would be even better...

i would have put money on last night's letdown. of course it comes against the isles!!! gotta say tho, the isles are legit. super hard working, never gave the rangers an inch to play with. and a good balance, versatile team. glad that it can be a real rivalry again. better results next time at the mosaleum

@J_CKfor30 he's the real deal. and better and better as he sees more time.

I have to say, as annoying as this crazy schedule is this year for the fans, it seems to be benefitting the Rangers in a major way. For Hank to be able to hit the reset button a few times through the season and have a handful of stretches where he can get real rest is incredible.
Also, I hope AV realizes the Rangers are playing with a medicine ball with Glass in the lineup. When you shed that extra weight, the team flies better than ever…. kinda like Nash. Glass is like that 10 pounds Nash lost in the off-season.
Ah, the real rangers lineup.
I smell a 6-0 panther pounding

I think you may be right, but the cap just adds such a tricky element. You can go for it all this year, but then we aren't even close to being able to keep all the pieces (and important ones like Staal) next year. Always that balance between now and future, which the cap forces
Agree, especially if MSL is going back to the 18-20 goal range
Well for one thing about 15-20 million in cap space. Rangers do need to consolidate a bit. Either 2 of those id give up but not all 3
I agree. Gotta give to get. Might see Staal in there for that reason too.
That's BS. Women on ice? Nash, Kreider, miller, Staal, mcD, Girardi, heck even zucc could and should kick glass"s ass if he loses us any more games. And yes Fast is average but plays good D, and that's exactly what we are saying. You need at least an average player there and glass is not close to average NHL talent. He's clueless out there. I can only
Assume he and AV are in love. That's the only acceptable excuse at this point.

Not the worst metaphor ever, but let's remember the players aren't making the lineup. Glass line mates must cringe when he botches every rush or doesn't know how to play positional hockey. Playing with a crappy teammate can do real damage to your career. As long as glass is on that 4th line, we will see little to no production from it. That sucks. He's not even that intimidating to the opposition. Getting the power play to the right place would be more of a deterrent to other players hitting Nash than having a reck-leaguer in the lineup. Or just suck it up and pay for prust or lucic.
No more glass. If they want someone who can't skate to come in and be a B- enforcer, just bring up mcilrath
Streaming link for game? Radio?
Yeah at least keep playing miller to showcase him while all eyes are on us during this hot streak.
How does JT bring back an elite player unless packaged with one? He's still basically a prospect that hasn't quite lived up to expectations, however you slice it. I think him, Staal and talbot could bring Taylor hall. I'd do that. It would be giving a lot, but remember that's the only way to get something back. Unless it's the McDonough coop
That's a good question. Though clearly his skillset is top 6, I think that, for this specific ranger lineup, Kreider is the ideal 4th liner, since the 4th line gets lots of minutes under AV system. It seems he wants to be a power forward, and if he can be a more effective bumper than glass, given kreiders offensive tools, it would bump glass out of the lineup (yay) and give us incredible depth and a real scoring / breakaway threat on every line.
With the post short handed and the empty net he almost had 4 or 5. Impressive however you slice it. #roadto50

@RangersForte i think he is and we have good young D coming up… long as it's not much more than Staal
1 month, 1 week ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
@gravey94 @RangersForte Wow I was gonna say 'who you calling young?'… didn't realize stall is only 27. I'd still do it. We have good prospects and Hall is a freak. I could also see Tabot going the other way in a signs and trade.
This faceoff issue is the biggest problem facing the Rangers right now- not a small problem either. We're a puck possession team and need to figure this out ASAP.
Wtf? Are they all banging the same groupies? Enough with the mumps already
@rangermom @MikeBlue Glass bad, Fast good with upside. Like a Jan Erixon with hopefully more goals
@JMK8363 @wherewasi @MikeBlue PRUST
@MikeBlue Did we see the same fight? beat into submission??? lol. I understand the role, though there are less and less "enforcers" out there. But you need to have skills regardless. IMHO, whatever toughness he brings is completely negated by the fact that he is just not an NHL talent. He totally botches just about any fast break or offensive development he's a part of- he either shanks the puck, throws it randomly, fluttering, into open space. Maybe if it wasn't a significant cap hit but the guys eating up space. D Moore must be banging his head against the wall
When you take a look at a team like the Oilers, does the league really need to add another team to water things down even more?
1 month, 2 weeks ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/2014-articles/rangers-2-edmonton-0.html
Wow, I think we basically just went from having a questionable 4th line (compared to last year's), to having one that is stacked with Kreider now on it! What a difference a Miller makes.
And if the 4 lines roll evenly, who cares in Kreider is "top 6" or not. That's just semantics.
Rangers looking good, and yes McD will lead the way as he reaches 100%.
No letdown tonight!!!!!!!!!!!

Kreiders the one messing with our heads... We're like: "wait, didn't you used to be awesome?"
I like how AV does not play head games. Millers looked great, Kreider not at all since the first game where he was great. Easy decision there. He's not trying to light a fire under anyone or shame anyone, he's just making the best lineup he can each night. Something has happened to kreiders game this year- doesn't look blazing fast as he has before, seems unfocused in the hockey IQ department, always initiating contact even when he's first to a puck. Scoring a hardworking goal tonight could get him on track.
No more bank off the boards play where he streaks wide and....shoots wide. The league seems to have figured that out.
this schedule sucks
1 month, 3 weeks ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/2014-articles/rangers-4-penguins-3-ot.html
They actually did have Nash in front on the PP, just couldn't come close to cracking the perimeter, unless they were hitting the post from 10 degree angle.
JT looked good as did Hayes.
Nash well on his way to 40, which will mean about as much as his other 40 goal seasons in Columbus if we don't start playing consistently...
1 month, 3 weeks ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
Shhhh... He IS a number one starter with incredible upside (cough- trade bait- cough)...
This team is schizzo, that's why we love her
Need to win 20% more face offs, 20% less shots wide. Man That Marc Staal can shank a shot can't he? Unbelievable. Can't even discuss the "power play"
any off-season trades since last game
But for whom? No player with that big a contract is ever easy to trade, especially past 30. Also, there are so many fantastic goalies in the league, and honestly most teams already have one for cheaper. Any team with a center that would be fair trade for hank is on a team that already has the G position sorted out.
@J_CKfor30 Hank is still better, of course. but Talbot is absolutely a #1 on most teams, and likely will be come playoff time, if traded. Hank may find his game but he clearly will NEVER figure out how to handle the puck. Seriously dude, get a squeeze ball, strengthen those wrists and learn how to take a wrist shot. The lightning ran circles around us in our zone and all I'm saying is that could have been nipped in the bud on the dump in if Talbot were in net, bc he is great at handling the puck. plus I think he would have stopped those 2 wrist shots.
1 month, 4 weeks ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
Yeah Kreider looks like he just doesn't give a fuck out there, and is just trying to initiate contact, even when he's first to the puck. I'd put him in a suit and let JT jump on that line for now.
For teams like the lightning who are quick down low and get the puck deep, we will lose every time with hank. He cannot handle the puck- easily the worst puck handling goalie in the league. I thought richter was bad, yikes.
Talbot is one of the best at this, and would stop that forecheck before it starts.
Add 2 wrist shot goals from the slot on hank and it makes the case even stronger.
We have 2 #1 goalies and have to approach each game with the mindset of which will give a better chance against given opponent.
They are pretty much the rangers with a better superstar and....gulp... Better goalie? If say they are one or two role players away from odds on favorite to win cup
League will take notice- stick side, one foot off the ice
....by Kreider will get him to the press box. Yes, play the body, we get it, but there's also a puck out there.
Nash was good, step and MSL good, mcD getting there. Staal, off to shooting practice with hank.
Tampa is a better version of the rangers.
I think one step toward beating a team like them TB, and call me crazy, playing Talbot.
It amazes me that Hank is a top 5 goalie despite his glaringly atrocious puck handling. It is inexcusable to have zero game in that department. When he plays the puck, he literally serves it up the other team, especially quick forechecking teams like TB... Not a few times, pretty much EVERY time!!! Wtf? Just strengthen those wrists and practice that shit. It's more embarrassing than shaq not being able to sink a free throw. Talbot plays the puck well and would have diffused many of those plays deep by TB tonight.
Another couple games like this by kre
What's Kreiders deal with Stralman? Seemed to be going after him all night.
Please no more glass. He blows.
Lost his man on the goal and can't keep up with quick passing and transition game the rangers need to be effective. How many potential odd-man rushes where he shanks it and just fizzles the momentum. Not even hitting muc- his is not a million dollar role.
2 months ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
Just looking at the bright side. We are
In very good shape right now. Bad losses will happen and let downs will happen, and yeah odds are we probably won't win the cup (that's true for every team), but we have a talented team that for the most part is fun to watch. Yay.
Wonder where Staal and talbot will wind up. That's an interesting package.
