Did you watch him before becoming a ranger, and really much of his first season on NYR? He's a perennially dominant superstar having another good season. One of many. Or maybe he listened to a bunch of George Harrison songs as you seem to be saying. Hey you never know! Long as the lamp keeps lightin' up!

I think it's just time to stop being surprised that Nash is playing the way he has for 90% of his career.

@Say my Name I wouldn't say 15 years, haha.  been a legit team for a few years now, but he sure did have his fair share of mulligans.  this team is looking real good now that Nash is the superstar we trade for and built around

@scrangersfan @SmellyKisio no joke, I think it's pretty much widely accepted that Messier was totally dirty.  Yes absolutely tough as nails, but nasty.  Always a butt end sticking out on a check, always a sharp elbow when taking a check, or a slash.  I heard this straight from bryan trotter and patrick flatly who played against him a ton.  It was obviously another era, but when you have that kind of freakish talent mixed with the nasty, animal, whatever it takes, don't fuck with me attitude, you'll be a force in the league.  can't get away with quite as much these days, but messier absolutely did.

He's a bonafide superstar who had an off-season due to injury (though still scored just shy of 30 despite being on auto-pilot). He is flat out going after it now. And getting it

Oooh, duh! NASH takes the Poulioit slot. How did we not think of that, especially with him having past success/chemistry with brass. That was something. This is the Nash we asked for. lefty lindros.......... (I know, sorry).... Now another off-season til Saturday. Moore's suspension should be over by then

Did you see how many times the Habs iced the puck last night? If you know the other team cannot win a face off, icing the puck is basically just a free reset from behind your net. Feeling the loss of BOTH bottles right

Now, to be honest.

Duclair belongs, and makes the team better. I hope they stop over thinking it and just commit to him this season. He has superstar potential.

Hayes looked pretty good and faster than I rember, and meuller is a keeper as well. Great role/niche guy to have. Bottom line, you're right, Habs brought the better team and better game last night but I am not worried about another 2 on 0 breakaway happening this decade, or this many lapses in front of the net. We'll bounce

Back tomorrow, 4 out of 5 will look better than 2 losses in a row

I'm not even sure if it's a tactic as much as it is his being honest.  If you're smart, honest, confident and truly talented at what you do, you will most likely have huge success.  that's AV.  whereas torts had no foresight and played mind games and obviously had his own demons, insecurities, etc, this dude is the real deal.  Ice.

You can't bury someone for being snakebit, it would be ignorant to think he's not TRYING to score.

And Nash was kinda the same way- confident and honest.  He knows he has superstar talent, and doesn't let a slump or crazy press vultures get him down.  you know he's just like "yup, i score 30-40 goals, and sometimes don't score for a few games"…never too high or low.  confidence.  that's the kind of guy who can deliver in this town.  jeter. guy doesn't need to explain himself.  it is nice that he clearly put in extra work on the offseason though.  gonna be a sick year.

It's going to be one hell of a season for Nash, especially if St. Louis can remain a legitimate threat, which I think he has.

Love that first line. Maybe step, MSL and duke when the time comes. Have they tried zucc and duke together at all? If for no other reason than the catchiness?

MSL is not that fdr removed from a scoring title and Nash seems to be approaching too form. Makes sense to spread that across 2 lines. Who knows, this permutation has just as good a chance to gel as any other. Will miss the duke

I'm hoping it will all play out and show itself as far as who deserved to play and who does not, but boy, there is no stretch in the season where every point in the standings is not crucial so hope AV finds it ASAP. Duclairs gotta be a little deflated, confused and panicked right now. That won't relax his hands next time he does get the call. Don't like this move

@gravey94 @J_CKfor30 @SmellyKisio and, with some distance… let's all face it- last year was a MASSIVE success.  we are not at a place like the yankees, or whoever, where anything short of the championship is a let down.  that was fantastic, and hopefully we can build on it.

1 week, 6 days ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/

@J_CKfor30 @SmellyKisio that's just a great play by the D though, combined with being snake-bit.  if he decided not to back check there, ok he should take some blame, but every shot that doesn't score can't be counted as a check mark in the "cost us the game" category.  we also hit 2 posts in that OT right?  whoever shot those pucks didn't lose us the game, they just didn't win it for us.  i guess that's the difference.  we want someone who will win the game for us single-handedly.  no one is going to do that, ever.  all we can hope for is that they play good hockey, and eventually the skill set will shine.  he'll probably get 40+ goals this year and that's a big deal no matter how you slice it.

He absolutely did not cost us the Stanley cup, that's insane. He was playing very good all around hockey but was not scoring. The scoring slump sucked but he did everything else. That said, did Girardi more accurately cost us a game? Absolutely. Did the refs cost us 2 games with the non-interference call and the inexplicable tripping call on zucc? Yes. At least more so than someone not scoring. People like Ovie score 2 or 3 goals in a game and Actually do cost the team a loss bc of bad Defensive/hockey decisions. Not the case with Nash. He had an off scoring year due to concussion and never got fully caught up, but still almost had 30

Goals and 9 game winners. The regular season absolutely matters- it lays the foundation for the playoffs and is the true test of who is the best team. And if you take a step back, the playoffs are a tournament, after 82 games have been played, guys are injured, etc, where literally ANYThinG can happen. A goalie gets hot, a rental player starts lighting it up, injuries, it's a total crapshoot and not always indicative of the best team. Of course I love the playoffs, and winning the cup is the ultimate goal, but to see the regular season as meaning nothing is misguided. Why even watch then? ...long post

I was baffled by the duke benching. Sam didn't even mention it. I think it started after the quick whistle where he had an open net and put it wide.... Hopefully not injured. He played well I thought, no?? Was it just the fact that Hayes has been heating up and can play center and AV wanted MSL back to wing, leaving the Duke out on the audible?
