@Dante8496 much better at building than buying

Haha, maybe. I don't know though- you're either a head case or you're not, and if you are a head case, part of being said head case is that you can't control it. Anyway, what I meant more is that there's no way to predict that, and can't be gunshy when making contract based on that concern. Unfortunately, it seems to happen to about 80% of rangers

ok, but the facts are he was our best center last year

@IcyCup same here, he has incredible skills, and the confidence is building

@ivanricov totally out of anyone's control
@gravey94 he and zucc have a very special thing happening and played a big part in last year's run, despite not huge stats. 5 per, long term will prove a good deal. hopefully, those two can have a good enough line to open up some space for nash and finally get him out of hibernation

@KevinTheNYRBlog I agree. And if he keeps improving, this will be a very good value in 2 or 3 years, when he is still under 30. This will also mean very good trade value at that point, should we need it.
so is the cap hit 7 this year? or is it the average?
3 days, 16 hours ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/2014-articles/rangers-sign-brassard-to-five-year-deal.html
anything under 5 is great long term. he was our most reliable center last year and could get a shot at #1hood this season, depending

Good for D Moore, what a story. But seriously, 140k? When surrounded by teammates making a combined 60 million? Many with concussion history? Come on guys, lay it out!

Oops forgot to add:
I think AV is also too thoughtful to strip Girardi of the A right after he cost us 2 losses in the final
6 days, 2 hours ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
Tough call. I do like McD as captain, seems obvious. He's here for the long haul and is our 2nd most important player. Love MSL but this year could be it for him. Then there's the possible drama of taking letters away.
Zucc absolutely deserves the A, but
if there's one guy who can handle getting snubbed a bit, it's him.
I think it will be C for McD, A's Girardi and MSL.
Staal is good as gone- we need picks and he is the only thing valuable that we can part with.
When MSL is done, and zucc gets the precious (long term deal), zucc will finally get his A.... As an Islander. Kiddiiiiiiing.
@ObviouslyWeHadAGoodRun @SmellyKisio oh yeah, how did i forget that
6 days, 12 hours ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
@scrangersfan @SmellyKisio Hey look, I'm as happy as the next guy that he took less. But if he thinks this will factor into sather's or anyone else's consideration for the next contract, you're crazy. If he has a shitty year, he's not getting a good contract next year. And who could argue with that? this is honestly how every contract should be, but most folks prefer security. This is just another glorified "try out" and I don't know if it's Zucc's smartest play. Whatevs

Unfortunately, this entitles him to nothing. He takes all the risk in this situation. If he gets hurt, or just has a bad or even mediocre season, no one will care th the did this and will only want to give what his production warrants.
6 days, 19 hours ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
Yup especially since he probably has about 150 games left in him
1 week ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
@Gorangers0525 does feel weird that he'll make more than stepan. he will be close to 5 though
@Wallace1 @SmellyKisio woulda rather had heatley for 1/1
2 great moves by sather.
We'll have a little left after brass gets 5ish and Moore gets 1ish. Trade Staal to someone in need of a shutdown, get some future back for him, make some space for next years
Plus we will trade Staal this season. We need some picks and to dump a little.

Good move. First of all, MSL comes off the books next season, or at least signs for a couple million less, and the cap will go up again. More
MSL's money comes back after this year, or at least goes down (in theory) in his next contract, if he continues. so we'll get that. kreider's a keeper, no matter what.

sign and trade

Ah, off-season boredom

I have a good feeling about the kids over the next 2 seasons. We should have at least 2 or 3 good NHLers in that bunch, with Miller at the top of the list
2 weeks, 1 day ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
a decent power play down the stretch and the cup was ours. well, plus there will always be those 2 calls. (sigh)....
hope boyle delivers

How's his trade value
3 weeks, 6 days ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
MSL will get that and then some- remember we didn't have him all year, now we will. Also we have Boyle, a big upgrade from Bad Richards on the PP.
Guarantee AV finds a way to put a good 4th line together around d Moore.
We're good. We're better than good.
4 weeks ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
And they overpaid for each one. Enjoy the sunburn you pastey roll players. See you in the first round.
That's a good point. And let's be honest about the PK..... It's hank
Boyle for Boyle. On paper this team now has a better power play and a lesser PK without Boyle.
The bad PP let the cup slip away. But paper is pointless. Yesterday was more about bobbing and weaving, plugging holes in the boat as people jumped ship. I think we came out fine.
We could use a real top center. But do have proven scorers, and are still deeper and in better shape than teams like the pens who have 2 top centers.
Sather got us there this past year too don't forget. 1 win away (accounting for non call and reverse zucc call)
4 weeks, 1 day ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
Wonder what would have happened if we got d Boyle at the deadline and had a next to decent power play in the finals. Tho with him, maybe we don't make it that far. Great run and I think another great team next year. I still smell one more noteworthy trade before summers out
I still don't get the increased role thing for Boyle.
This is a very rare situation where a team had/has a balanced 4 lines, and everyone basically gets equal ice time. I feel like he'll get
Less ice time with most other teams once they evaluate his skill set. What a silly, tall,
Wow. This used to be a joke but zucc is proving to be bonafide captain material. At least an A.
He plays basically the same uber aggressive game as Cally did, a little more O a little less D.
Love this little guy. It also seems he doesn't want to have to go somewhere new and prove himself all over again to a team and fanbase that will initially not want a tiny forward.

You are simply incorrect. There is NO better place to be young and rich, and famous. For every reason. Plus the team is just damn good right now, undeniably so.
Gaborik took a deal in LA that he would not get anywhere else. 7 years is insane for a still injury plagued, medically repaired and compromised gabby in twilight of career. LA will soon regret that. I guarantee Cally is absolutely kicking himself for winding
Up in Tampa. Sounds like you do not live in NYC.
He did a good job last year pasting together a borderline rag-tag bunch, I hope he can do it again. Would be nice to keep Poulioit line
You're right- within 2 weeks we'll get used tHe names On the backs of jerseys. I think this is where you really start to see the value of having an excellent coach and system and culture in place, where skilled players and role players will want to be a part of. I feel like we'll be able to find even better pieces to fit into the puzzle and work the system even better than we did with a very good but not excellent team last year.
Plus we still got Hank in his prime. The one name that really matters
Boyle is such a good face off guy, tremendous PK as well. I don't understand him needing "more of a role"... AV ran 4 lines evenly and he got most of the Pk minutes. Money
I like keeping the Poulioit line in tact too. Keep him and d Moore. Cut Boyle and strals. Better pieces out there at those rates
he's been a real nice surprise but i say we quit while we're ahead. he's not worth the big bucks but he should go get it while he can. Klein is our #4
@Bueller not even close to worth it. the bottom line is winning and we were / are a better team without him.
Can't afford this guy unfortunately
1 month, 1 week ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
of course he's bought out.
so... this clears some space, and how much is the cap going up from last year? anyone know?
1 month, 1 week ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/2014-articles/rangers-buy-out-brad-richards.html
like a taller rod gilbert
could only hurt to lose this guy. he will be a ranger legend
@johnpnj you're probably right, but let's not close the book on Nash yet. Maybe we could get that Hertl kid back too :)
