Yeah, this does indeed SUCK! Being the Dad of two sons, this is tough to process.  Id like to see the full story before I pass judgment.  However, from what I have read so far, this won't be easy to explain away.  And furthermore, if the allegations turn out to be true (I hope not) fuk him.  And many of those #28 jerseys are going to the landfill.

IO totally agree with your view on Chicago.  Of course their biggest Achilles heel of all is Jay Cutler.  He is not a winner in the NFL.  As an opponent I am never frightened of him.  6 or 7 wins, probably just behind us this year.

Temper expectations...indeed.  I hope this is not the peak of our 2014/2015 season.

That said, football in the air is always a good thing and I am cautiously optimistic.

Go to KC an bring a good supply of bills.  Cassell starting is the right logical move.  Tough five game to start season, we will have a great idea about this team by then, probably sooner.  Most people say pre-season does not matter and generally I agree.  But in our case I think it DID MATTER and I am more optimistic! Of course I have been there and done that before and look what it got me!

More importantly the game was lost by that piece of sh*t team from N.O.  It could not happen to a nicer bunch of a-holes starting with that smug little bounty boy coach and the rest of those dirty , cheating, punks.

The truth is almost always somewhere in between. Great analysis PJD, spot on. This points to far larger problems. Some people can't see the forest through the trees, typical of quite a few Vikings fans. As a side note our old friend Abdullah having an interesting game in Indy right now.

To me it's not about him getting cut. Its about a lack of leadership and accountability of management which I find pervasive throughout the organization.

Well, at least step 1 is done. Any new coach should be an improvement. I agree that Spielman should have joined Frazier on the unemployment line, as should most of the coaching staff. Spielman should shoulder much of the responsibility for the 2013 fiasco as well. But i am thrilled that Frazier is the f out. Those meaningless wins agitate the sh*t out of me, total wastes.  I am trying to find some optimism for 2014 and there are a few personnel highlights. Maybe Gruden (jeff) is the guy. QB? Who knows. Trade up? No washed up (Rothlesberger) or lame (Cutler) though. Rivers sounds nice if available. I still prefer a young gun IF they can draft someone decent. We'll see...

Answer to my own question: it is theoretically possible for us to pick #3. Not likely but at least there is something to not play for.

So what is the BEST draft pick we can get assuming we lose to Detroit, which is certainly not a given. In fact if I were betting I would probably go with the Vikes. Still, for fun, does anyone know what our best position could be? As I see it, IN THEORY pick 4?

My preference is blue chip qb pick at spot 2 - 4. Phillip Rivers also ok. Please Lord, no Jay Cutler.

indeed a highly entertaining loss. I am not mad either, I am relieved. this loss gained us about 4 places in draft position. The probability of us winning anymore games in 2013 is slim though not impossible. All three teams we have left have playoff aspirations to position for. The first pick sits solid with Houston but we have a decent chance to go as high as #2. C'mon Vikings coaching staff - keep it up! Please change NOTHING in your approach or play calling, it is now working splendidly for the future.

Matt Cassell starting gives us best chance of winning a game (just think about that statement, friends!)  that we don't, or should not, want to win.  Why does this team (and management) do everything ass backwards?  And why the F do I have to keep following this train wreck???  Answer: because I am a Vikings fan.

And yeah, Chicago Pizza sucks big time.

This is, hands down, the best Vikings blog, period.  Painfully funny but also remarkably (if sadly) accurate in virtually every aspect.  This blog is about the only thing keeping this lost season interesting to me, and its doing a great job of it.

I know this type.  "I just want to beat Green Bay because I hate them so much.  I don't care if we lose draft position and it hurts the future of our team.  I just can't get past my hatred of GB."  Then there is the true moron fan who says, if we finish strong it positions us well for next year.  Yeah. See the 2012 season for that as a great example.  This team needs house sterilization/fumigation.  Any wins (or ties - jesus) put house fumigation at risk.

Unf-king believeable.  This team AND MANAGEMENT is inept in every possible situation.

That's right.  But this is the kind of meaningless game the Vikings sometimes decide to win.  A win at this point is a negative so, as a 30 year fan, I know my team could easily do exactly the wrong thing here with a #1 pick in our grasp

Two comments:  1.) An authentic Viking song would have to be a Black Metal song by a band like IMMORTAL.  Now that would be something to scare the shyte out of every visiting team/fan.  2.) That Aaron Rodgers look alike is actually a pretty lucky guy.  Imagine the amount of action he can get from that.  Stupid hottie says, "Hey, are'nt you Aaron Rodgers?!"  Uh, "Yup, that's right."

It's all draft from here on out.  Hell it's been that way for about 8 weeks now in my mind.  My only concern is that they do somethng stupid like pick up a free agent veteran at QB (i.e. Roethlisberger) for a year or two.  Then we end up back in this same position before you know it.  I am also worried that they could win next week because GB blows right now.  However, its likely Freeman gets the start and that should dramatically hurt our chances of winning.  I'd look for a QB at top of draft if we finish in top 3.

Hey Seattle, I have a headache.  Can we just not do this tonight?  We have to?  Ok I'll just lay here until you are done.

Anyway, PH was one of the top three talents on the team when he departed but carrying ALOT of baggage.  On one hand disappointed he left. On the other hand I understood the factors.

They can win two more games; GB and PHL.  And if AP has an outstanding game they could possibly get another upset along the way.  If they can get to 4 or 5 wins they will draft in the 7 - 11 slot.  Draft position was hurt needlessly by this stupid win.  Also note that ATL won't win too many more games, nor will Houston.  The whole thing makes me ill.  Where is ^&%$ is ownership?

Your article is SPOT ON, as they like to say in the UK.  Two years ago we beat the REDSKINS (that's right  - I said it) in another pointless win and it cost us RGIII.  Luckily the schedule over the next  seven games will likely (hopefully) keep us in contention for a top 3 pick.   This win pretty much ended any hope for the first pick.

My other nightmare is that if this team miraculously finishes with 5 wins (4-4 in the second half of the year) does that mean Frazier and his staff keep their jobs?   The probability of that is low, but it is truly frightening thought.
