The NBA is a "Players" league, unlike college.  Coack "K" at Duke is a legend, Boeheim at the "Cuse", or Pitno at Louisville, and who can forget Bobby Knight?  March madness has far more fans than the NBA playoffs; wonder why?

The NFL dwarfs the NBA relative to popularity, and not since the days of Magic, Bird and Jordan has the NBA been competitive for an audience...

Very few of those I know give a damn about the NBA, yet it wasnt always that way, back in the day of team play, before losers like DMC got "Paid"...

Jimmer is an example what the NBA could be, and it has nothing to do with skin color or religion. Sadly, the inmates are running the asylum, and numbers dont lie.  The NBA needs more "role models" like Jimmer, more coaches like Phil Jackson, Jerry Sloan or "Pops" from the Spurs.  The decline of the "League" is a symbolic of our society, as selfishness and short attention spans take precedence over character and culture.

Sure the blind purple bleeding Kings fanatics will disagree, but they also have no problem with DMC...

Typical blind purple kook-aid drinking fans on the Kings Facebook pg as many proclaim, "come on guys, they new players are still getting used to the team, give them a few games and playoffs here we come"!   LMAO

For much of the "game", you had the SAME PG for the last 2 seasons in the mad midget I.T., dribbling the air out of the ball until he bores the defender for a drive and shoot. SAME center in the pouting punk DMC, sure he score but theres a lot more to being a "beast mode" big man.  SAME SG in the "Bombing" Bayou bust Thornton, and JT you cant find me playing "D".  Travis "should be Outlawed" for being paid to play has been on this excuse for a franchise with all the SAME "All Stars" as well....

So these "Professional" basketball players, like DWill and Gay are on a new "Team", and thats an excuse for losing how?  Pro's have played with new players since their days on the playground, and the way the Kings play, it should be an easier transition since one-on-one "look at me" street ball is their game!

I would regularly get angry with many of the bias blank stare Kings fans, now I just pity them.  Cant imagine bleeding "purple" and bering proud of "here we stay", when all this team does is push potential new fans away...

James has posted some great columns recently, but this one "fails", as the Kings social media headlines often proclaim after the latest loss...

"Weathers the storm of trade rumors"...?  How about "Weathers the storm" of complete mismanagement from ownership to coaching, since he was unfortunately drafted by this miserable franchise rated one of the "worst sports teams/franchises in the U.S.", by ESPN....?

Reading this column reminds me of the main stream media reports about "Obamacare" as they ignore how horrible the legislation is for America, and the impact its having on taxpayers.  I guess the "talking points" for what is allowed by the "ruling class" has forced Mr. Ham to tone it down about Jimmer, as many informed fans scream and the "low information" fans fawn over Ben, Thomas, Williams, and Cousins, while they go 4-13...

Jimmer is certainly a "True Professional" James, but for you to gloss over how he has been abused and misused by this excuse of a franchise, is inexcusable.  They cant win a game and the "inmates have been running the asylum" for several years.

Its not a "Storm" sir, its a nightmare of dysfunction supported by a bankrupt state capital in a bankrupt state.  Its an example of "political correctness", discrimination and ignorance gone astray.

@ChuckWilkens I have a theory based on past experience, which in fact any critical thinker would observe...

I not only come from the same upstate NY small town as Jimmer, but have the same genetic and ethnic heritage, of which I've had no control.  I attended college in the deep south, and was often the only "pigment challenged" player on the team.  I could shoot and held my own throughout my career, but quoting Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson, "White men cant jump"...

Now before the liberal loons scream "Racism", unless youve lived it you dont have a clue.  I spent 20 years in the hometown of DMC, Mobile, AL, and "Racism" is alive and well on both sides of the track...

I'm simply saying that if you ask DMC, or I.T., Salmons or Thornton, who they would like to play with, Jimmer probably ranks last.  Just as if you ask any African American who they voted for and what they think of our current President, bias exists and cant be denied...

So I believe that is the existing PLAYERS that have hurt Jimmer more than anything.  DMC got Coach Westphal fired, and unlike college basketball, where the head coach is the highest paid and in charge, the NBA is a "Players" league.  I truly believe the players were and are jealous of Jimmer, at least when he was signed.  Now they simply despise him and show it with their actions.

Read some classic Kings fan comments on another site...wow.  The hate for him is simply stunning, but I believe its quite clear.  My take is that the Kings, unlike the Celtics, Knicks, Lakers, or other stable NBA franchises, have little "heritage" relative to championships or pride...

So other than a close call what, 7 years ago or so, what do the Kings really have in terms of history?  So "here we stay" is the current chant to hang your hat on, but if you pull the blinders off and stop drinking the purple Kool-Aid, what do you fans really have?

Your arena is a joke, your past ownership a bankrupt dishonest dysfunctional family, and you just about lost your team to Seattle, if not for what many believe is a "mulligan" by the NBA...

The "Franchise" player DMC is far from a "role model", and the franchise can throw all the money at him they want, but as they say, you can take the punk off the playground but cant take the playground out of the punk. All the talent in the world doesnt mean your a winner, a team player, or anything other than a statistic. The annals of the NBA is littered with great "talents" that squandered it away by an inability to control something more important than a jump shot or dunk...The Mind.

This explains the reverence many Kings fanatics have for DMC, I.T., former player Evans, hell even Thornton. They really have nothing else, other than the promise they will further increase taxes in the highest taxed state in the country, to build a "new arena"....LOL

Just read the Kings Facebook pg, or any Kings blog. Fans still recall the days of "Webber and Peja, Williams or whomever played with some success back "then"....

I get it, so the "players" are all the Kings really can point to, as no banners hang in the old smelly "Sleep Train" arena, only cobwebs.  Sacramento is your typical west coast liberal "state capital" city, with the majority of jobs coming from big government or a small business. Dont claim to know all about Sac(and dont care), but from what I hear and read, its a high cost of living, California typical city, with the rich, the poor, and the middle class not able to make ends meet.  Like nearby Stockton, CA, declaring bankruptcy, I cant believe the masses in Sac have the disposable income to blow on a bad NBA franchise and "team"...

In comes Jimmer, perhaps an answer to the years of losses, perhaps another "J. Will"?  We have DMC and when he goes "Beast Mode", along with Evans, this national collegiate "POY" can bring the Kings to the "promised land", almost, again...

The Moron Maloofs trade for him, and Salmons(?), hoping that "Jimmermania" and ESPN's poster boy bring them publicity, ticket and jersey sales and oh yea, maybe more wins...

Not to rehash history, but since I'm paying League Pass to watch a great person/player from my hometown sit on the bench (again) as the Kings suck for a 3rd straight year, I'm bored...

Jimmer STARTED for his 1st coach Westphal, and was certainly rattled when DMC (the role model) demanded him fired after he was benched for his normal punk selfish attitude.  2nd coach "Smart" was then installed to cater to DMC, I.T., and the rest of the boys. Unless your blinded by "purple", its more than obvious that most of the "Team" was either jealous or simply dont like Jimmer playing. I watched EVERY miserable game since he was drafted and the number of times "teammates" looked the other way (even on an inbounds) is undeniable.  Unless your a Kool-Aid Kings fan.

So I get it those of you that comically proclaim as if youre years as a fan of a miserable franchise grants you status as a NBA scout "Jimmer cant play D!" I get it when you arrogantly observe that Jimmer cant do this, or that, compared to studs like Thornton, Thomas, or Salmons...lol

Kings fans live and die by their players, and when one of them doesnt live up to their expectations, they attack.  T-Rob was an example, as after Jimmer he was the next "answer".  WE could have drafted Lillard or Leonard.  See, you cant blame us, our GM or owners, for "Here we stay", so lets blame the Mormon white kid that "cant play D".  If it wasnt for him, we would WIN!!!

Jimmer should have been traded early on LAST year, and early on THIS year, but your OLD and NEW ownership refused. So instead, unlike T.Rob, now playing decent mins in PORTLAND (Sorry for the mistake, you had so many players come and go you need a Macbook Pro to keep up with them all), his career wastes away while "studs" like Salmons starts...lol

Secondly, I'm not Mormon, I'm one of thousands of Jimmer fans sick over what your "Worst U.S. Sports Franchise"(ESPN) has forced upon him.

Lastly, and this will be the hardest FACT for you to comprehend, as that Purple Kool-aid and those Purple colored glasses seem to affect some Kings fans ability to observe reality...

Either you dont watch the games or are unable to view objectively with your obvious bias, but Jimmer is repeatedly ignored by many on your "team".  They dont like him, havent liked him, may be jealous of his popularity, or obvious "different" lifestyle. I've not missed ONE game since he was unfortunately drafted by this "Franchise", and he has been passed over on open shots or even inbounding after a made basket more times than the Maloofs lied!

I have every right, as long as this country remains Free (unless the rest of the states end up like California), to voice my observations/opinions on this or any sacred Sacramento Kings blog.  Again, take off your glasses and put down the Kool-Aid son, Jimmer was a bad fit for your team of "me first" players and piss poor management from day one!

To keep him under this miserable contract and to have not already traded him is the problem, with me and many others. Sad thing is the Kings could have had a lot of new fans across the country, as its a FACT Jimmer had (and still has) a HUGE fan base. Partly why many on the Queens (opps sorry Kings) despise him, I think. Maybe a few "Tats" would help and if he got a tan, but I digress.

Even if he had be treated normally, you know like I.T., Thornton, Hayes, DMC, Evans, who all are allowed to run free and dribble drive, chuck it up, without much concern of being benched...

Thornton and Salmons, Thomas and DMC can do no wrong and get minutes regardless, Jimmer it seems can do no right and the only way to correct that is trade the poor kid, waive him, anything to end this fiasco...Period.

Its cruel and unusual punishment to keep him on this "Team", that bench, for going on 3 years now, simply cruel...

Like people that are too much alike, the rabid Kings fans bash the rabid Jimmer "Fan boys" with the same amount of passion.  Witness the comments on the Kings Facebook pg as they lose 4 in a row, look awful in every area, yet "good game boys", rant the rabid fans.  No different from Jimmer fans as we watch the potentially great player waste away for 2 years as the Kings continue to abuse and misuse his obvious talent, (and the Kings continue to stink)...

I used to get angry reading the comments from those so blind to what is the Kings and what could become of Jimmer, but their bias is similar to mine.  I believe in Jimmer, they believe in the Kings.  I just happen to have more faith that Jimmer is better than the Kings, and will be better off without them.

If the Kings new owners dont trade him ASAP, that says a lot about their attitude.  If its all about the money, at the expense of this great young persons career, its cruel and unusual punishment. What happens next with Jimmer will speak volumes about those that control his destiny this season.  He is one of the lowest paid on the team and if they are keeping him on the bench just waiting and wasting him for the highest bidder down the road, thats criminal.  Trade him or even waive him, and I might have some renewed respect for this miserable franchise.

Regardless, when he is eventually free from this nightmare I will have a new "team" to follow.... ANY team that plays the Kings!  LOL

You throw a contract with big $ at a thug like DMC, and essentially have the same lineup as the last 2 dysfunctional seasons (minus BM), and expect different results?  Owners too busy patting themselves on the back for stealing the Kings from Seattle (and Kissing up to Kevin Johnson), to make any serious changes.

Any decent GM would have cleaned house as most new owners do when aquiring a backrupt business. Oh thats right, bloated contracts for Salmons, Thornton, Hayes and the love affair with the punk DMC wont allow it....

Looks like Evans wasnt the problem Kings kool-aid drinkers, but keep building your "team" around the immature and often ineffective DMC. "Here we stay" should be changed to "Should have gone away"...LOL

@Sackingssuck Dead on as you are obviously a critical thinker rather than a blind biased, Kings fan.  Not sure if its simply reverse racism against Jimmer, or that some Kings fans are just that stupid.  Regardless, trade this great player/person to a real franchise with a mature, educated fan base....PLEASE!  Cant wait for the second I can change my NBA League pass to ANY team other than the "Queens"....

@ukrainenotweak Wouldnt surprise me even with the new Coach.  Gosh if he only had some Tats like former Kings Jason Williams, smoked weed with the boys, and got arrested a few times, maybe he would be accepted....LOL.

I'm beginning to believe that NBA is trending towards a bias against those missing the norm in the league. You know, lots of "Tats", a hip hop attitude, and that you can't play D or the point if you don't fit the "profile". It's ok for Seth Curry to give up 42 against Chris Paul but God forbid if Jimmer gives up any!

Reading some of the comments these wasted last 2 years by pseudo NBA "GM's" indicates such a bias. The players freeze him out, the former coach abused him, and it's Jimmers fault?

The sooner he gets out of this joke of a franchise the better! You can all cheer on the pouting punk DMC and live in looney low information liberal land. Will always despise the kings for the treatment of this great player and person!

@silverdog @Charger11 Ladies and gentlemen, witness the typical low information Kings fan on display.  Put the pipe down son and wake up, as Jimmer started not ONE game under Smart.  His salary dwarfs your favorite "tatted" up players like Thornton, DMC, and even Outlaw.  If you had a brain you would know that Jimmers "Drain" on the Kings "Payroll" (a joke in and of itself), was that his jersey sales and potential ticket sales contributed more to your joke of a franchise than you will ever know.  Stick to playing video game in your Mom's basement you troll...

Fact vs. Opinion - Articles on Jimmer set off a "Firestorm", from the "haters" to the critical thinkers because its hard to find another example of blatant biased since Jeremy Lin when his coach was also named "Smart".

Fact - Jimmer never started ONE game under coach "smart".  Even though he led the team in 3's and showed flashes of brilliance on multiple occasions, with fewer mins than any player other than Outlaw. Youtube and NBA league pass archives dont lie...although the media/haters do...

Fact - The Kings were dead last in defense, assists and won all of 38 games.  So the genius coach, GM, and bankrupt owners let him rot on the bench....what a waste.

Fact - Jimmer is far different than any other Kings player. No "tats", no "techs" and actually tries to play team ball.  Salmons, DMC, and most of the other Kings would freeze him out even on inbounds plays, let alone when he was wide open.

Fact - Thomas, Thornton, Salmons, DMC, Douglas last year, and just about every Kings "me first" player other than Outlaw, got more time than Jimmer....

Fact - Low information Kings fans blasted Jimmer for his defense, lack of ability, or perhaps lack of "Tats and Techs", as if he was the reason they won all of 38 games....What a joke.

Excellent analysis James!  I'm from Jimmers hometown and know him to be not only a great athlete, but an incredible individual. I watched him mature as a basketball player from high school on, and regardless of what the Kings decide to do, it has been painful to watch these last 2 seasons.

Since the most recent draft, and the trade for Vasquez, my hope was he would finally be traded away from the mess called the "Kings".  As a former player and coach, nothing kills confidence like conflict and poor coaching/ownership issues.  Like a bad relationship or job, nothing instills motivation and renewed vigor like a change in scenery.  IMO Jimmer will flourish elsewhere, anywhere but Sacramento.

Many fans and those who know him despise what the Kings organization has done to such a great person, and tainted how the team is perceived.  Many rabid Kings "fans" have repeatedly blasted Jimmer as a "bust" and worse.  From day one it seems, from the Kings Facebook pg to the Bee blogs, the hate has been stunning. Almost as if the past two dismal seasons were blamed on Jimmer...

I desire a trade ASAP, as regardless of what Malone plans to do with him if he stays, the roster was created for a reason, with an excessive number of guards.  Do the right thing Kings and "Free" Jimmer...Please.
