@Bruffins @Roenick72 Understand, the only reason I like Bernier more is because I think from my past experiences playing hockey he looks like he has better fundamentals. Square to the shooter, rebound control, takes away the top half of the net a little better and good puck handling skills. I like Reimer too but just think he has less of a chance to be elite than Bernier. Although when he is committed to battling he can make a lot of great saves.

@Bruffins @Roenick72 Easy Bruffins, We just always have the Reimer/Bernier debate. I know you are not against Bernier and are only showing your support and loyalty to Reimer. Which should be commended.
Some credit for our wins needs to be pointed out for some of the guys doing the little things that no one notices.
Gunnerson has been playing well. I know he coughs up some easy ones but look at the big picture. He plays against the top guys, he is only a 3+ million cap hit and plays a lot of minutes. His well timed pinch last night is the reason we got back into the game.
Phanuef, while he is not an unnoticed character, watch his stick this year compared to the last few. He lunged at puck carriers too much in past seasons and then would get caught on the wrong skate. His ability to get stick on puck this year has been outstanding.
MC Clement playing forth line center is the best fourth line center in the league. He brings stability to that group to be able to play them a little more, you can move him through the lineup if need be, good on draws and good on the penalty kill. All for 1.5 million.
JVR - another guy that is not under the radar but there is a part of his game that is not getting the attention it deserves. His net presence is maybe the best in the league now. Kessel's second goal last night was a great shot but probably doesn't beat Anderson if JVR does not take his eyes away for just a quick second. Take a look back this season at Kessel's goals and look how many JVR is inches away from the blue paint. And as much as I am not a huge fan of Randy that is all him that got JVR to play like that, so I have to give credit where credit is due.
I have been a huge supporter of Bernier all year, often taking a beating from Cameron and Bruffins. He is playing really well right now but I do worry about him getting mentally and physically tired from a long schedule, coupled with the intense Toronto media. When he plays a lot of games in a row he tends to have the occasional stinker. Hopefully the break is like a new season for him and gives him the rest he needs.
Biggest thing about the win last night is how it really takes the wind out of the sails of a team chasing us for a playoff spot. If Ottawa wins they are four points back of us and have two games in hand. They can control there own fate and their dressing room would be full of confidence. Now they are eight points back, have to play some really good teams before the break and see a hill in front of them. Having played a lot of serious hockey, believe me, that is a huge swing in the mood of the dressing room.
The best part is Carolina is not that good and we make them look like all stars.

That's funny. The favorite leaf is always the one we trade. Once we trade franson you will love him to.
It does not matter who sits on d or who plays net. We r screwed.
He has no idea how to be square to the shooter.
I love bernier too, but he needs to now earn his spot back.

I believe in bernier fully. But he needs to sit and get his shit together. Reimer deserves a run.
Our compete level is terrible. Watch that 4th goal, lose the draw, and kullimin puts a half effort to get possession.
We had a good match up our first line against their 4th. Offensive draw and they got possession dumped it in but did not change. The islanders have a 4th line that can play in all situations.
On the cbc feed last night after the Rangers scored the 5th goal they showed a 6 or 7 year old boy and he had tears starting to form in his eyes. If I was the coach I would show the players that clip over and over and tell them that while they are making million and living in their penthouse apartments some dads get to take their kids to one game a year or a lifetime and this is what they have to look up to. Pathetic!

@mcloki @Roenick72 I don't think its the fact your playing minor league teams as its minor leaguers against minor leaguers.
As I understand it the Marlies play the same defensive system as the leafs. How are they managing not to get outshot 2 to 1 every game and keep it under 50 shots a game. I get having a few bad nights where the other team takes it to you but this is becoming mindboggling.
@wendelsway1 @Roenick72 I would feel great with the two of them going into the playoffs. Especially because they are both fairly inexperienced. So if one has a tough time with the pressure the other steps in. My opinion is Bernier has a better chance to be an elite goalie but if I am wrong and Reimer outplays him I will dance in the streets because it probably means the leafs are winning.

Why are we leaf fans making a production of Reimer/Bernier. This is a situation any team would die for. We have a sound positional, strong focused, quite movement goalie in Bernier, and a battling, getting better positional, played very well last year and this year Reimer.
The way this moves forward has so many positives and very few negatives.
They keep battling as 1A and 1B - has worked so far
Bernier gets the number 1 and Reimer is one of the best backups in the league.
Bernier gets the #1 and we trade Reimer for assets.
Reimer stakes claim to the #1 and we trade Bernier for assets.
Look at what is happening on other teams.
Edmonton, NY Islanders, Carolina, - All having trouble establishing a #1
NY Rangers - Committed to 8 years and huge dollars on their #1 goalie, Great goalie but they have to be a little nervous right now.
Tampa Bay - Gave up a lot of assets for their backup Lindback, Bishop is working out nicely but they invested a lot in Lindback and will get little in return.
Buffalo - Will trade their #1 or lose him for nothing, but who takes over next year, I don't know that Enroth is a #1.
You can debate all day who is number 1, who should be treated better, who should play, but this is the first time in a long time where the leafs have two really good goalies, both with potential, and the organization holds the cards right now with contracts and the age of the asset. Leaf fans win!
@Black_Hawk He looks like a man playing amongst boys.

Wow, people complain for Nonis to do something, people complain that Liles is a bad signing, people complain that our D needs to get tougher. Then we trade a bad contract (for potential another bad contract) but it has some really good potential and we are complaining about that. People need to realize Nashville is not going to trade us Shea Weber.
Remember Lupul was a bad contract with terrible injury history and half of the people want him to be captain now.
