Even more reason to pat management on the back for the first.
1 month, 2 weeks ago on Leafs Notebook – March 4
Even with the talented defence in Nashville I am sure they were hoping Franson would take some minutes away from those guys so they are fresh going into the playoffs. I bet their disappointed so far.
Franson played only 12 minutes last night. His offseason $$$ is going lower and lower by the week. Leafs management did well to stick to their guns on their money offer and then when it was clear a deal could not get done move him for a first rounder in a deep draft. Let's give credit where credit is due.
@TheLoovTrain @Roenick72 Have you heard anything about his hip. Just wondering if it is his hip, Im glad they didn't wait until the deadline to pull the trigger. Is Nonis that smart?
1 month, 3 weeks ago on Pete Deboer on where it went wrong with David Clarkson
@North Kariya @TheLoovTrain @Roenick72 When we ask whats wrong with the leafs. Franson played top two at 20+ minutes a night, bottom two in Nashville and may become a healthy scratch.
Franson only played 12:50 for the Preds the other night. Anyone know? Hurt or falling out of favor?
@Marlies Man @Roenick72 Either can Patrick Kane with a 2M dollar center.
@Fish Head @Dogger Like JT miller and a second
People need to remember that cap hit is almost bigger than the player now. Their value is tied to the amount they make. For instance every team would of traded and gave up a lot of assets for Patrick Kane last year at a 6.3M cap hit but not many teams will give up a ton of assets for him next year at 10.5M. Reason being its tough to surround those players with what they need to be successful when they eat up a big chunk of cap.
I think we could get an arm and a leg for Polak right now. 6 foot 236lbs, one year left at a great cap hit of 2.75M. I actually would hate to lose him but we have to remember you need to give something to get something. Carolina got a first for Sekera whos UFA next year why couldn't we get a first from Montreal for Polak and Booth. Bergevan would love that cap hit, he pays more attention to that than most GM's.
@MaxwellHowe @Roenick72 Tough call both have pro's and cons. I like Bozie though and think he would do really well in a support role in the big apple.
@Dogger JT miller and a second would be better than a first
@peterbleafs @Roenick72 exactly, that's what I'm saying. They trade zucc for assets to a west team, then basically trade those assets to us for Bozak. They are good at center for two years at 4.2M, maybe even a little stronger this year with bozaks faceoff ability and they didn't sell the farm.
NYR either have a deal in place for Bozak or Vermette. They are a legitimate threat to win the east again and won't trade one of their top two centers unless they get someone of equal value. My guess is they have a deal for bozak. It makes perfect sense. Trade zucarello at 3.5 million cap hit for a 2nd and probably a third. Trade for bozak maybe JT miller and a 2nd. What they gain is they have bozak locked in at an affordable 4.2M for two more years, he is slightly better than Zuc and what they really lost is JT miller for a 3rd round pick.
People, we wanted a trade and now a lot of people are complaining.
Word was we may only get a 2nd for Franson, and maybe a 2nd for Santo but lets look at what we got
A first round pick, it could be 30 but it also could be a lot higher. Trading for Montreal's 1st could also end up 30th so you got to take a chance.
I know Brendan Lepsic is small but 4th in rookie scoring in the AHL a men's league. I am not comparing him to any of these players so don't flip out but look who's behind him in rookie scoring.
Kerby Rychel 1st round pick
Emile Poireir 1st round pick
Nick Kerdilis 36th overall
Teuvo Teravainen 1st Round Pick
Anthony Mantha 1st Round Pick
Henrick Samuelsson 1st Round Pick
Brendan Gaunce 1st Round Pick
Don't know how any of these guys will turn out but I know this board wanted to pick a lot of these guys. Again Lepsic may not be better than any of these in the future but as of right now at 20 years old he is in the same area.
2 months ago on Leafs Trade Mike Santorelli & Cody Franson to the Nashville Predators
Watch the kadri interview from two years ago on coaches corner where they beat Ottawa. Grinning from ear to ear saying he can do whatever he wants because he knows someone has his back.

Agree, team chemistry is made up of so many things, leafs missing I got your back right now.
It is many things. How many teams have you been a part of?
Exactly! Colleen gets it weekend at Bernie's does not.
You just want to argue. Have you ever been in a locker room as part of a team?
That's what we are missing this year. Just that true "care factor" I have played a lot of serious hockey and now I am coaching it. Team spirit can trump talent. Hence when Komarov was flying we did well, everyone followed suit.
I like that we didn't get the shutout. That's how you build team. Watch Lupul go to Reimer at the buzzer, bet he says sorry buddy, then show Reilly being disappointed tomorrow in video and that is how you build championships.
Confidence from a franchise is not why you miss goalie fundamentals. My comment was a compliment that he just needs to tweak a few things to be solid. Simple coaching 101.
That is why Reimer struggles, look where his shoulder is when they shot high last time. Right on the crossbar. Excellent! When he struggles his butt is touching the back of his skates.
I live in Alberta and play hockey twice a week with many Oiler fans. I need the leafs to win tonight. I am already thinking up smart ass comments. You have to rake small victories when your a leaf fan.
Even before the pp
Here is our problem, 3 - 0 we should be able to shut it down, Edmonton has had 6 grade A chances in the last 5 minutes
I wish teams like the leafs would look to put komarov on LTIR or whatever just sit him for the rest of the year and let him recoup, he was dominant before the OV hit. Look to the future in two ways. Get Komo back to what he was earlier and let Levio cut his teeth with 20 straight games in the NHL.
What r u even talking about?

Then why would phanuef have to fight neil
Your a troller, get lost, your an idiot.
This is actually comical.
5 months ago on GDT: Game #19, Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Nashville Predators (7:30 p.m., TSN4)
I have defended phanuef for the last time!
Stop the presses. I agree with Cameron's view earlier that ROR is not some savior over Kadri. There is a first time for everything. Judging by that freakish event I predict the leafs win 8 - 0 tonight. Randy Carlyle makes a coaching moving that changes the outcome of the game(for the better), 4th line get 10+minutes, our defence shows Nashville what it takes to be a top defensive group and everyone on MLHS is happy forever.

If the salary cap does not go up, I believe Chicago has to go all in this year because I think they are in trouble going forward. To accommodate Kane and Toews they need to shed 8.3M from their team as well as Sadd will probably get a 2M raise.
5 months, 1 week ago on Friday Mashup: Back to Back On Tap
@Xxxxxnew Agree, I think he is turning into an ideal 2nd line center.
Also what is with all the love for ROR. I agree he would be a great asset to get but everyone is thinking he is the savior at center. Colorado is not even playing him at center right now, he has 2 goals with a lot of PP time and is -11. I would not be against the leafs making a play for him but don't expect him to be a Jonathen Toews.
Playing in Toronto is brutal with this media and fan base. Naz is not scoring right now but if you know hockey and really watch he has improved all the things that he has been criticized for while he was scoring in the past. His face offs are better, his d zone coverage is better, his backpressure is better, his o zone time is better and his turnovers are down. The media and fan base is going to put so much pressure on him that he's going to start to cheat on those responsibilities to start to score more and then everyone will be beating up on him again.
I thought that was Gardiner's best game this year. He positioned himself well, skated up ice at the right time and moved his feet. Same with Morgan Reilly. It is not just about Goals, Assists or SOG, If you create positive forward movement and space on the ice for other because Chicago forwards are focused on taking your space away, that is the advantage of a good puck moving defence man.

@Komas Taberle @Burtonboy That's when we took on some salary from Tbay and the league took away the fourth round pick from us.
9 months, 3 weeks ago on Draft Day Two Wrap Up: Gunnarsson for Polak, offensive focus to Leafs’ draftees
@The_Polish_Cannon @wendelsfist @loomx @Komas Taberle And he has grown significantly in the last year, shows he is still going through a growth stage.
@HHT @Roenick72 @Komas Taberle I would of liked Sam Bennett too, just too high of a price to move up, I think it will be a toss up between the two.
@HHT @Komas Taberle Agree. William will be a beauty.
I think Ritchie will be a bust. I didn't get a chance to watch him much as I mostly follow the WHL living in the west but from his highlight tapes his goals were mostly scored because of his strength compared to others he played against. Lots of his shots were off of the wrong foot and when he beat them to the net it was because he took a couple hard strides and then used his strength to fend off. That skill set won't translate to success at the next level. I had the Chance to watch Luke Schenn a lot in Junior and he dominated the exact same way but that could not be carried over when playing others who had the same size.
Are you saying you want Stajan back?
1 year ago on @SharkClubDundas Game Day: Game #77, Flames at Maple Leafs
I like Clarkson.
Can you imagine if he would of fell on that breakaway.
His balance seems to be off. Leaning to far ahead.
