As long as Gordie Clark is making the picks, I feel confidant. I don't remember who is responsible for Jessiman. Clark has done wonders with middle of the road picks and college players.

Just not going to miss Pouliot and his bonehead mistakes. Stempniak is definitely an upgrade. Pouliot may have been taller, but he rarely came up with pucks in the corner. Fifteen pounds heavier and he might have been more effective.

I vote for Mcdonagh. Zucc and St. Louis can be alternates. Mac is the best player overall and is respected by all.

I'm dying to see this kid in action against professionals in the nhl. We still need people to put the puck in the net. How bad could his defense be?
1 month, 3 weeks ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
Moving Hagelin would be a mistake.. Speed doesn't grow on trees. He was dynamic in the playoffs and his shooting has improved. Let him put on a few more pounds of muscle and he might be a mini Kreider..
Boyle can be replaced. Besides, who would you trade him for that is better without giving up another prospect. Sorry, he's too good .
1 month, 4 weeks ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
Maybe if Pouliot gained 15 lbs. of muscle to protect Brass and Zucc I would consider keeping him. Otherwise his bonehead penalties and constant offsides will not be missed. Personally, I'd like to give Kristo a chance or a real goal scorer.

If there is anybody out there who still thinks that Montreal has not been showed favoritism, I have a bridge to sell you. Why wasn't Subban given a penalty near the end of regulation for slashing. Two games for Prust? What a joke!
3 months, 1 week ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
Why isn't Prust suspended for a few games? He obviously had an intent to injure.

Am I the only one who is upset about AV's Tortorella's defensive plan the entire third period? Ironically it worked by some miracle and the King's superhuman effort. I hate this kind of hockey and I doubt it will work further down the playoff road. On the positive side I can relax until Saturday.
I hope it's not Av who doesn't know how to motivate Nash, but he shouldn't have to. New York always accepts players who look like they're playing hard all the time. Nash was flying down the wing a few times last night. Maybe he had to to keep up with Kreider. Now Nash looks like Jagr in his last year with the Rangers when he lost interest.
We don't look as fast as the Pens unless it's our style. A few times those fast line changes force us to dump the puck in which is not our forte. We never seem to be in position for rebound goals, either.
Let's face it. Nash and an old St. Louis can't compare to Malkin and Crosby. We are at least two top players short of being on a par with the elite teams. I don't know if our Hartford players are the answer down the road.

Amazing to see the ref waving off Brassard's goal. It would have been great if Pittsburgh came back and scored and then Brassard's goal was reviewed and they would declare the Rangers the winners! I could see that the goal was in from my couch!

I still say to use Dominic Moore on faceoffs in the offensive zone and on the power play. Either that or give Stepan some lessons.

@Say my Name @gravey94 Yeah, strike out a lot!
4 months, 1 week ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
Let's ditch the Boyle with MSL experiment. It didn't work at all. Also, how about using Dominic Moore for all faceoffs in the offensive zone, at least on power plays. He's the best on the team at it.

@DaveFL I wonder too what Av means by "off the Ice". Is Miller burning the midnight oil when he should be in bed?
4 months, 4 weeks ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
I have a sneaking suspicion that the other French-Canadian refs feel the same way as Stewart and make calls against the Rangers because they don't respect them. This has been going on for years!
Did you see Nash just watching Zucc getting roughed up? He will never be a winner. Was invisible last night.
Who scouts these college players? We know it's not Sather. Is it Gordie Clark?

@Say my Name I agree with what you said wholeheartedly. Nash does not always use his size and strength to his advantage. He is not a great forechecker and gets knocked down quite readily. Part of that is mental.. why else would Nash spend so much time on the side boards watching the play unfold!
Well , I wanted a laugher and this was one. Hate to be anal about sam and joe but sam said "good" 11 times and Joe said it 10 times but who's counting!
5 months ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/uncategorized/rangers-5-oilers-0.html
I think AV is confused about what to do with his lines.
Sitting Miller in third period was an overreaction. Picking on a rookie for a mistake inhibits growth. Torts did this with Kreider(Boy, I miss him!). AV is really screwing up MSL. Bounce him around to a few more lines, why don't you. It's hard to get the puck deep when you play 20 second shifts. We need a laugher for a win!
@Say my Name Leetch was the best at keeping the puck in the offensive zone but he didn't have the strength of McD to bang players in the defensive zone.
5 months, 1 week ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
Mc donagh was too kind not to punch Simmons in the face. He did push him and Simmons went flailing backwards. Bush leaguer than whacked with his stick again.
By the way, now we know why Kreider wasn't himself the last few days. Hope he's back for the Flyers in the playoffs.
5 months, 1 week ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/2014-articles/simmonds-slash-on-mcdonagh.html
Kreider has become invisible because he plays 20 second shifts. He is the only Ranger where opponents back down. For that reason he is worth his weight Literally. Av doesn't see this importance!
5 months, 1 week ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/2014-articles/chris-kreider-may-miss-1-month-due-to-hand-injury.html
Love Kreider, he will be missed against the tougher teams. I don't know if Miller is enough. I'd be tempted to take a look at Kristo or maybe even Haggerty although Av seems to be afraid to use rookies.
Hate to criticize Sam Gordon but lately he has fallen in love with the word "good". It's become his favorite adjective to describe something positive. Nitpicking?
@ObviouslyTwoPointsAreGreat @Say my Name Agree about Hags and a few more Ranger Lightweights- Brassard, Dorset, etc.
@Bring back Langdon @scrangersfan It might be the perfect time to let Kreider loose on Simmons!
I agree that it was really stupid to have the King's ceremony before the game. It lulled the crowd and the team to sleep.
Av is not using Kreider correctly. Switch him to a line where he doesn't have to watch Nash try to skate through three players. Use him on the penalty kill and the power play. He has too much talent to only play 10 minutes a game.
Where is Steve Vickers when you need him? It was really bizarre to see Girardi and McDonagh scoring from in close. Was that Av's plan or was it just luck on our part?
Refs were trying their best to screw the Rangers in this game. No goal my ass! I think the refs were afraid to call too many penalties against the Blue Jackets. Pouliot should have been benched after that horrible pass. It looked like the King was sleeping. We still pass too much when we should carry the puck and too much passing on the power play. We lucked out at the end thanks to Girardi!
@Dekking89 I definitely agree. King can't stop a high shot anymore and most of the goals he gives up are glove side..What does Av tell the defense during the game? Also, the forwards didn't cover their men in the defensive zone. Stepan is really bad defensively. At times it appears Staal can't see the puck. Strahlman should hit the weights. Is Conor Allen so much worse?
5 months, 2 weeks ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
Is Gordie Clark responsible for selecting all the promising rookies selected by the Rangers? fMaybe it's time to dump some of the dead wood and go with a few rooks.
5 months, 2 weeks ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/2014-articles/rangers-sign-ryan-graves-heres-everything-you-need-to-know-about-him.html
Don't you think every gm is trying to outdo each other? Look at the teams Sather has fleeced.(well, Montreal, anyway). Smith knows talent. He gave up some of that to win the 94 cup. Gartner, Weight etc. Give me Smith.
5 months, 2 weeks ago on Could Sather Retire At End of Season?
What is the scouting report on Ryan Haggerty?
Maybe Av should leave him on the ice for a full minute instead of 30 second shifts. Then fine him if he doesn't go to the net. And please find someone who can win an offensive zone faceoff!
5 months, 2 weeks ago on Nash Wants to Get Inside, But...
I would bring back Neil Smith in a heartbeat. And leave Gordie Clark where he is. The man finds talent with almost no draft picks thanks to Sather!
Stop changing the lines so quickly! Stepan is a mediocre passer. Richards is done! I'm fed up after this game!!!!!

kreider will produce if he gets the playing time. Taking him off the power play was foolish. The kid has a great shot but passes it up too much . He obviously caters to Nash. He was blasting Red Wings all over the ice today!
5 months, 3 weeks ago on Rangers 3, Red Wings 0
msl can play center from time to time. Anything is better than Stepan.
5 months, 4 weeks ago on Rangers vs. Maple Leafs (Game 63) - Martin St. Louis in the Building
St. Louis showed us how a small man can be effective even though his line did not score. Also, what is wrong with Hagelin? Did he forget how to body check? He flies around the ice with one hand on his stick and only checks the wind. Anton Strahlman was putrid in this game. Nash has disappeared. I would put St. Louis out there with Nash and Kreider and show Stepan what a good pass is. Stepan's game has reallly regressed. He may never score again! A lot of bad passing by the Rangers. It seems we don't have enough skill for Av's system..Maybe Zucc will help.
We really didn't get any smaller. Callahan wasn't strong enough to battle the bigger forwards. His blocking shots surely wasn't worth 6 mil. We needed a scorer badly. His greed was stupid... let's see what he gets on the open market.
5 months, 4 weeks ago on Rangers Trade Callahan, Picks to Tampa for St. Louis
The Rangers aren't going anywhere this year. To give up a first round pick plus Stepan and Kristo would be too much for Kesler. Get a rental for Callahan and/or bring up Fast or Kristo. I would not pay 6 mil for Callahan.
6 months ago on Rangers Decline Callahan's Six-Year, $6.3 Million Per Year Proposal
This was a game that showed the shortcomings of Strahlman, Boyle, Pouliot, Hagelin and Stepan. We are just too weak to score in front of the net. How is Kreider being used that he never gets a shot on goal from a pass from Stepan. If Nash and Kreider didn't pass to each other they would never have a shot on goal. Move Stepan to the second line and move Brassard up. We have too many mediocre players. I would dump Dorsett now. God I hope Oscar Lindberg is tough!
6 months ago on Bruins 6, Rangers 3
Thank God! Finally someone who recognizes the mediocrity of Marty. I get sick when people fawn over his so called greatness. I totally agree with the blind guy in front of the trapping D. By the way, did you notice that the officials called him Marty? Do they call the King Henry? No favoritism, right?
7 months, 1 week ago on Rangers 7, Devils 3
I was ready To fire AV during the first period. Remember when The King used to stop breakaways all the time. I hate to nitpick but we still can't clear people infront of the net. Also, if we had stronger forwards, we could have scored 3 more goals. It was fun to watch though. I'd like to see a passing contest between King and Girardi. Who is worse!
. One skate down the ice and you're off.
This was a very frustrating game to watch. We can't win a faceoff in the offensive zone. Callahan has become the invisible man. I hope he doesn't expect a 5 million salary. We are still at least two strong power forwards or one defenseman short. And where are the players in front of the net. AV changes his lines too frequently.

Don't agree. I've been watching strange calls or non calls against the Rangers for years. I believe it's the Canadian bloc of refs that show anti new york bias. Did you notice how Zucc was tripped by Bishop in the last minute? No call! PS Kerry Fraser was the worst!
7 months, 2 weeks ago on Gone In Nine Seconds
Richards looked a lot slower against the Hawks. He made a half hearted swipe at the puck on Chicago's second goal. Never moved his slow feet. At least he scored a goal.
7 months, 3 weeks ago on Rangers 3, Blackhawks 2
The Canadian officials are at it again. It has happened too often over the years to be coincidence. Also, I've never seen Lundqvist look so nervous stopping shots. When was the last time you saw him give up the first two goals in a shootout? Just hope it's a slump.
