It's gotten so bad with Sam and Joe that I can't watch a game now without counting how many times they say "good." They broke the record with this game. 54 times! Sorry, but these are the most redundant meatheads on any sports broadcast!

Kreider could use some boxing lessons. Either that or he is afraid he will kill someone with his superior strength.

@Say my Name Not the Pope!
After this overblown contract becomes realty, who will the Rangers lose-Zucc or Hags? I love Hags' speed but he has stone hands. The league seems to have caught up with Zucc and have been muscling him off the puck lately. He is still a great passer, but unless he starts scoring more he might have to go.

Are the Rangers in a slump or are the other teams finding ways to disrupt Av's system? When the Rangers can't get the puck out of the defensive zone and start sagging towards the goalie it reminds me of Torts "block the puck" system.
We still lack toughness on the puck. And how about someone standing in the opposing goalie"s face more often. Both the Islanders and the Bruins stand right in front and we can't move them out.
We can't win the cup with this group. Too many holes-small wingers, centers who can't win face-offs, constant overpassing and a system that seems to implode when one man is out.
This game showed one thing. We need a center who can win faceoffs. We constantly put ourselves on the defensive because we lose the faceoff in both zones. We also seem incapable of moving anyone out of the crease. The Islanders often had two skaters there.
Mcdonagh still doesnt look right to me. His play is sporadic. And if we pay Staal 6 million a year we've lost our minds. Is he really 6'4"?
We might have to trade a few smurfs for some size. I'm just discouraged. Av looked pissed off, too!

I would love to know how many goals we have disallowed and how many flukes have been scored against us over the years. By the way, Sam and Joe said "good" 37 times during the 3 periods. What a redundant pair!

@GiveGartneraCup @DP_Snotty @dylonergan @IhateGaborik @betweentheworlds I think you're way off base here. I have never seen the media criminalize the black athlete. You sound a bit racist yourself! Give one example!

@Billfrom Brookhaven But he couldn't shoot a puck in the ocean off a pier. Good on defense, though.

@rangermom @Barry Beck @Say my Name Sorry, Kreider is a beast and that size and speed are rare. He intimidates with his presence alone.
Boyle still looks terrible. Bressard was very rusty. Kudos to Girardi, the only Ranger who hits with a passion. Stepan looked weak on the puck. Pushed around too easily. Another crappy ref call!

I tend to agree. If Av has a weakness, It's an inability to find the right lines in a short time.

@scrangersfan @oldnyrfan We need less of Sam and Joe. If either of them says the word "good" one more time I'm going to scream!
I hope Av's stubbornness doesn't turn him into Torts junior. Won't consider using Klein on power play? Screwing around with Kreider's head!
1 month, 1 week ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
Miller over Kreider ? That's a joke. Av has no clue as to what to do on the power play. We have trouble getting the puck over the red line. Now Klein has the best shot of the defense? Why has he never been used on the power play?Av may have a great system but he hasn't the foggiest how to judge talent or motivate players.
1 month, 2 weeks ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/2014-articles/open-thread-1211-is-jt-miller-being-showcased.html
Our power play looks like it is never worked on. Is it that hard to teach? How about watching the Penguins power play. Maybe we can learn something.
Agree how much Hayes has improved. His long reach blocks passes all over the ice. I think he should be reunited with Kreider..
Duclair should be playing in place of Glass or Stempniak. Why is Stemp on the power play?

Where are young black men dying at alarmingly high rates by the police? Did you check the actual numbers?
Staal is barely a top four defenseman at this point. I would gamble on Brady Skeij before giving Staal 5 or 6 million. At this time I would gamble with John Moore and hope to bring something in a trade for Staal . with the salary cap you are forced to go with youth.

I guess the Kings should forfeit the Stanley Cup to the Rangers!
Part of the Rangers malaise is their penchant for overpassing. Brassard, Zucc and especially Kreider are the most guilty. How many shots does Kreider take a game. Two? He plays about 10 seconds on the power play and acts as a screen. Why? Because he's big? Is Cally big? Kreider should be set up for his shot-one of the most powerful on the team.
The penalties being called on Zucc are mostly bogus. Skating in front of someone to get to the puck is not interference.
I'm starting to have doubts about Av's system. Maybe we just don't have enough talent, especially on defense.
And tell Kreider and Zucc to shoot!
@Say my Name Sorry, you don't trade a young strong player who others fear. If he only scores fifteen goals a year he is worth it. Who would you trade him for?
Watching the King handle the puck is a nerve wracking experience. How can such a good goalie be so inept at passing the puck! I guess he looks worse following Cam Talbot's excellent passing. The Flyers "D" is really horrible MDZ is one ex-Ranger who won't come back to haunt us!
When McDonagh comes back, who do you bench, Moore or Hunwick. I'm leaning on Moore to sit !

@betweentheworlds @stevmore Agree to a certain extent, but I hope Skeij is as good as Gordie Clark says he is. Maybe he can provide a Kreider playoff moment.
2 months, 1 week ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
Maybe Brady Skeij can join Rangers at the end of the season. I wouldn't give Staal a huge contract because of him!
@AnnoyingJoe He looks afraid to make contact now. Refs seem to want to make a whimp out of him.
One thing I regret is losing Howie Rose and getting Micheletti instead. Sam Gordon is past his prime, too.
What is it about Av's system that takes so long to grasp? I think John Moore has regressed this season. Also, where has Kreider been. He gets few shots on goal in this system. Stall plays one handed too much and looks weak in the corners. Stamkos puts Nash to shame.
How is Kristo on shootouts? That's where we need some help. Duclair maybe?
I really hate the Penguins. Malkin's hit was dirty and he should be suspended. Crappy ending to a wild game. John Moore can't pass to save his life. Stupidly left his man when Boyle duffed his pass. Should have penalized Cindy for cursing a blue streak!

I guess it's become realty since I've seen the Rangers get screwed so often over the years.
I guess it's more realty now after watching the Rangers get screwed so often over the years.
Hate to sound neurotic but I bet the refs help the Pens in some way tonight!
Since when do you need an engineering degree to play hockey? Explain to Duke what you want him to do in all situations. While you're at it, have Kreider sit in on a lesson or two. Hayes too. Also, tell Brassard not to reveal he's afraid to play Pittsburgh. That's dumb. Brassard does take a night or two off from time to time. He didn't against the Penguins.
What a difference two days make! The King was spectacular, The Penguins were bottled up constantly down the middle, Stepan's shot is rusty, and Kostka is on borrowed time.
2 months, 2 weeks ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
I would sit Glass and Play Duclair, The Rangers need players who can possibly score. Duke can. Glass can't.
@Rangers_54 @stevmore When your coach plays your top players too many minutes, they become exhausted
The team looks exhausted. How long can you compete with 3 mediocre talents in the defensive zone? Losing McDonagh is the key to the Rangers mediocrity. The King was great last night!
I'm going with "It's his lucky shirt." Now he can't change it because he scored a goal wearing it. Or maybe it's his post game interview shirt. It accentuates his biceps!
2 months, 4 weeks ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/2014-articles/breaking-news-anthony-duclair-only-owns-one-shirt.html
Every time I watch a game of hockey I think I understand it - until I see a game like this. It looked like the rangers were too slow to keep up with the Wild after two periods. I was blaming Av for changing the lines too much. Too many Ranger passes were sent to nobody. Then the explosion came! Five goals in one period? Zucc looked like he was shot from a cannon. He never seemed to lose the puck and his passes were perfect.
Icing on the cake were Zuccs first goal of the season and Dukes first of his career!
2 months, 4 weeks ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
I was ready to castigate Klein for scoring a girardi goal(is that two already?) and Mueller for playing like a minor leaguer when they both came through in the clutch. I also thought some of those penalties against us were the typical anti Ranger ones (Jagr tripping himself in front of the net and imaginary holding by Hayes on Jgar). I would like to see Hayes on the penalty kill.
Time to bring back Duclair on Saturday for either Malone or Glass.
3 months ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
I really miss Brian Leetch on the power play. When you watch how futile the Rangers are in trying to keep the puck in the zone it's almost comical. Whoever plays the point just can't read where the puck is going. When was the last time we had a good power play.
3 months, 1 week ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
I don't agree with this move at all. Sending Duclair back to juniors is a waste for him. Playing him intermittently on the Rangers would be better. The kid can play. Help him out with some coaching if he makes defensive mistakes. While they're at it, get a coach who knows power plays and face-offs. If you need toughness, send out Kreider. Even John Moore is a fighter. I would sit Tanner Glass.
My question about Stralman was he worth 4.5 mil for a second tier defenseman? He didn't play anywhere near the time that a Mcdonagh and Girardi played on the penalty kill. Maybe he just kept the status quo against second liners. Was that good enough? He didn't help the power play much. Just thinking out loud.
We don't screen the goalie enough. We also overpass at times. Take the damn shot and someone follow. We made Carolina's goalie look like a star.
Duclair and Hayes have to stay. I might even try Hayes on the penalty kill with that big body. Sort of like a Boyle with skill.
Kostka has to go. He's slow and stupid, not a good combo. Bring up the rookies!
What I especially like is that no one washes Malone's face with a glove in front of the net. He commands respect. What is wrong with Zucc? Seems out of it.

@J_CKfor30 Kreider never gets enough time..I would play him till his tongue hangs out!
Can't figure Miller out. Still looks lost out there sometimes. Is he tough? Can he shoot? Is he smart? Only time will tell either in New York or Hartford.
@Gianni74 Agree with everything you said except for Kreider comment. You forget the goals Kreider scored faking left and scoring with his backhand!
