The problem with playing Glass with Fast and Moore is that he has no shot at all.  Moore and Fast kill themselves to get the puck and Glass loses it for them every time.  Sheppard has a shot and could help the fourth line chip in a goal.

Where was St. Louis in this game?

We won but Lundquivst looked like a trampoline.

I really wanted Kreider to punch Byfuglien in the face when he was pounding Zucc.

Zucc was spectacular last night as he is most nights.

Can't help but agree with this column.  I would give Kreider more minutes till his tongue hung out.  I'm also starting to have doubts about AV's system for the playoffs.  Boston, Washington and LA seemed to have solved an effective attack against the Rangers.  Yandle, Boyle and Hunwick love diagonal passes across the crease, the type that are intercepted.  I'm also getting tired of all the no look backwards passes made when they panic.

We lose so much offense because we can't win offensive zone face-offs.

Maybe it's time to find an assistant coach who can teach these Rangers how to run a power play.  How many times will we see Yandle or someone else skate ahead of everyone to the blue line and have no one to pass to.  Dumping the puck in on the power play is also a no no!

I'm just frustrated at this point.

If this game told you anything it said

1. Nash disappears in big games.  He barely threw his weight around until the last 6 minutes.

2. Kreider and Nash can't play on the same line.  They just can't pass to each other.

3. McDonagh's shoulder is not fully healed.  He's become a one handed poke checker.  Not bad but not great like he was.

4. Tanner Glass has to sit when MSL returns.

5. Lundqvist is missed.

6. Hillary Clinton would make a lousy president! (Oops, wrong blog!)

For all you youngsters, Eddie Giacomin, a pretty fair Ranger netminder, used to rotate with Gilles Villemure in goal back in the seventies.  It seemed to work even though the team wasn't good enough to win the Cup.  Giving Talbot more games next year might work if he isn't traded.

I blame the Klein injury on making Ranger defensemen ducks in  a shooting gallery in that 3rd period.  Remember all the freak injuries we suffered during Torts tenure?  Let's not go there again!

Hated the third period.  I think this collapsible zone defense allows for more injuries to our players and just energizes the opponent. It was a miracle that Washington didn't score.  I don't think you can win a Cup using this tactic.  Does anyone know if Av used this method in Vancouver?  Or is this Samuelson defense?

Remember that Torts did this when or talent level wasn't as good!

This is why Zucc is such a beloved figure on the Rangers.  Although hockey is a business, it's refreshing to see someone who enjoys his teammates and plays with so much heart.  Love this guy!

@joksekim80 I think that most of the camera coverage of hockey is terrible.  What sport has the action disappear with a wall hiding play?  Maybe an above the ice shot or one that follows the action from one end more often and not just on goals.  The garden cameraman is dyslectic at times!

I've been watching Ranger hockey for over fifty years and there isn't enough room here to list all the times they have been screwed by the league or by the officials.  Quick example:  Eric Lindros should have been a Ranger originally because a handshake deal was made.  You could look it up.  Rangers got the post concussion Lindros when he was a shadow of himself.

Part of the problem with the officials is that 90% of them are French Canadian.  Big bad New York represents the US and I think is a major reason for their bias.  You should have heard the the uproar when we signed Anders Hedberg  from the WHL.  The league thought we were buying the cup.

You know something is wrong when Av complains about all the clutching and grabbing done by Detroit.

With the salary cap the way it is, trading for talent now that you can afford is the way to go.  Duke may become a star but not in the Crosby class or even Nash.  You just can't stockpile talent any more.  This was a good trade overall.  Hayes and Buchnevich are our first round picks!

You obviously don't know hockey talent or know little about the salary cap.  If you overpay for Zucc you put the team in a hole in the coming years.  If you don't recognize the talent of Duclair or Buchnevich you're just an emotional fan.

Over $20,000,000 is not enough for Zucc?  He can retire at 35?  I love the way he plays, but he doesn't score enough to warrant $5.5.  The Rangers gave him a chance to succeed.  I'll miss him but Duclair and Buchnevich will have to do I guess.  Don't count out Haggerty.

If Talbot is smart, he'll keep signing one year million dollar contracts as a backup.

It was great to see Kreider kick someone's ass.  Burrows couldn't move because Kreider is so strong.  Pretty soon no one will mess with Kreids when they realize he won't take any crap.

Speaking of crap, we just can't clear the crease for our goalies.  When we go into the defensive collapse and let a team pass the puck around until we're ready to drop dead I feel sick.  Is this Ulf's system?  It is happening way too often, and more teams will start crashing the net!

Brassard, Staal and a few others have to stop playing one-handed.  Use the body!

Do you watch the games?  Zucc passes better than anyone on the team and his toughness despite being small energizes the team.  Put him with a sniper and you'll see the results.  Better than MSL right now!  AV wants Zucc.  He's staying!

If Montreal can give Christian Thomas a call,  why not give Kristo a brief shot.  Kristo is rated better than Thomas.

I have always loved Kreider but if you only stick his butt in front of the goal he'll never develop as a shooter.  He needs more ice time in all situations!

I hated this game.  The Rangers looked like they were totally disinterested in scoring except for Hayes and Zucc.  I think Kreider should play more like Zucc instead of looking dazed and confused and somehow scoring a goal.

Brassard should man up and stop complaining to the refs even if they suck.  And just think how good Brassard could be if he gained 5 lbs. of muscle and learned how to forecheck and come away with the puck.

Rangers have to keep Zucc.  He is the heart of the team!

What has happened to MSL?  Has Father Time caught up with him?

Time to bring up Kristo.  Rangers have no snipers since 3 men cover Nash and Kreider never gets to shoot.

Please sit Glass.  He is a dinosaur.

I still can't figure out the Ranger's offense.  Maybe AV thinks Nash and Kreids are the reincarnations of Guy LaFleur!

I get the feeling that

Av and his system is starting to implode.  Does he ever talk to his players or simply allow the veterans to control the locker room.  This team overpasses and rarely crashes the net.  (Brassard, St. Louis, Zucc)  I think McDonagh needs a sit down and talking to (relax and just play your game).  Has his shoulder become a problem?  The dominating player of last year has disappeared.

This team is playing with no fire in its belly.  We could use a Joey Kocur, or a Barry Beck or even a Orlando Kurtanbach(for the old timers)

Strange that the Habs bring up Christian Thomas who we traded for Danny Cristo.  Maybe we should bring up a rookie to get his feet wet once in a while!

If it comes done to losing Hags or Zucc after the season I'm for keeping Hags.  I love Zucc and he is friends with Hags and Brass but his game has slipped and his defensive play is lacking.  Also, Brass has passed miserably lately.  Take a shot for God's sake.

The Rangers offense is starting to frustrate me.  The Islanders always had two men in front of the goal.  If we have one we're lucky.  Is that our plan?

St. Louis is getting pushed around as much as Zucc too.  Some more size is needed.  Stempniak is not the answer.  Sitting Miller is idiotic.  So is playing Glass.

After this overblown contract becomes realty,  who will the Rangers lose-Zucc or Hags?  I love Hags' speed but he has stone hands.  The league seems to have caught up with Zucc and have been muscling him off the puck lately.  He is still a great passer, but unless he starts scoring more he might have to go.

Are the Rangers in a slump or are the other teams finding ways to disrupt Av's system?  When the Rangers can't get the puck out of the defensive zone and start sagging towards the goalie it reminds me of Torts "block the puck" system.

We still lack toughness on the puck.  And how about someone standing in the opposing goalie"s face more often.  Both the Islanders and the Bruins stand right in front and we can't move them out.

We can't win the cup with this group.  Too many holes-small wingers, centers who can't win face-offs, constant overpassing and a system that seems to implode when one man is out.

3 months ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/

This game showed one thing.  We need a center who can win faceoffs.  We constantly put ourselves on the defensive because we lose the faceoff in both zones.  We also seem incapable of moving anyone out of the crease.  The Islanders often had two skaters there.

Mcdonagh still doesnt look right to me.  His play is sporadic.  And if we pay Staal 6 million a year we've lost our minds.  Is he really 6'4"?

We might have to trade a few smurfs for some size.  I'm just discouraged.  Av looked pissed off, too!
