Fleury is out-playing Lundqvist. Fleury has made more big saves than Hank. The Penguins had TWO decent scoring chances last night; both were goals. The Rangers had at LEAST five great chances and Fleury mad saves. Plus, the Rangers hit 3 posts. Yes, they need to find a way to score. But when the other goalie is letting up NO GOALS; it would be nice if Hank played as big as his contract.

1) It's pathetic that no Rangers took Kunitz to task for that hit and fought him right then and there. This team is soft. You don't let anyone run your goalie like that, regardless of who's on the ice or who is in net.
2) "I didn't see him coming", hey, Hank, it was the guy carrying the puck - you might want to know where he is. Maybe that's why you've been struggling so much this season.
3) Have the players given up on Hank? Is he a locker room cancer; always complaining and whining? I mean, why else would they not defend him on the ice?

I miss the days when pink hat fans would complain that the team "only needed to score 3 or or more goals and they would have won!" "Hank gets no goal support, you can't win by only scoring 1 goal! Not surprisingly, those clowns are silent after a 4-3 loss. Here's an idea: let's blow up the team and start from scratch for the 5th time in Hank's illustrious career.

The broadcast last night was BAFFLING. They kept talking about the Rangers home v. away record and didn't mention Talbot ONCE. The reason they're better on the road than at home is because of who is in net. It's a good thing Henrik got his massive pay-day, that really helped the team out. Eh? What a joke.

@Kevin DeLury @shoot_the_goalie @MiddleSwine @YesIAm Now that he's signed, he has plenty of time to focus on opening new restaurants with Avery, practicing for more guitar gigs with McEnroe, yachting, and working on his tennis skills. A true New York celebrity. Oh, and maybe playing goaltender, too.
8 months, 3 weeks ago on Lundqvist to Be Extended for 7 Years, $8+ Million Per
@YesIAm His play this year suggests he's a top 20 goaltender. Wahoo!
@KreiderisTheChosenOne The Yankees don't have a salary cap, your argument is invalid.
@Wallace1 He doesn't care. Now, he can focus on being the New York celebrity he so desperately wants to be.
Once again Sather shows he's really good at paying LOTS OF MONEY for
guys old, washed up, and on the tail end of their career. Bravo. This is
a gigantic waste of money. Yes, he'll be good for another year or so.
Maybe. The cult of "The King" has won out, the Rangers are worse off for
Goaltender controversy: confirmed. Talbot should start on Monday night. The only downside to starting Talbot again is a bruised ego for Hank. Sorry, but Hank broke in to the league by playing LIGHTS OUT when a veteran goaltender was having a bad season. It really doesn't matter as long as the team wins. Let's Go Rangers.

@BringBackBeukeboom Thank you, finally someone with sense. The obsession and love for Henrik is borderline delusional at this point.

@DubiLeetch @MiddleSwine @boogiepicker Because everyone's been making the same excuses for Hank since Renney. Wake up.
@boogiepicker @MiddleSwine Nice strawman there to make yourself feel good and ignore what I said. Get a clue.
“I don’t think we played our best tonight,” Lundqvist said. “We
battled, but we have to manage the puck better. The last four games,
we’ve allowed a lot of chances against us.”
Renney was quick to say the fault was not Lundqvist’s.
“If we keep the chances to 10 or 12, Henrik’s great,” Renney said.
“The fact of the matter is, he’s a victim of a sloppy team in front of
him.”" http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/01/sports/hockey/01rangers.html?pagewanted=print&_r=0 Yes, Hank has had sloppy teams for the past 7 seasons. It's not his fault!!! Shuuuuuuuuuuut up.
Here's a thought experiment: what's the only constant from the Renney Rangers, Torts Rangers, and AV Rangers?
Seriously, if the Rangers don't play a crazy defensive, collapse and block every shot system in front of him they can't win. The Rangers have lacked scoring because they're so worried about protecting Hank all the time. There have been hundreds of different players in front of Hank since he started, and yet, it's always been someone else's fault. Yes, the goalie can't score. But he sure as hell can effect the mindset of the locker-room. Please trade this clown before he signs somewhere else and the Rangers get NOTHING for him.
@Rangers_54 @johnnyb3910 @JoshKaye He's focused on practicing guitar for his next gig with John McEnroe.

@Say my Name @scrangersfan @HJB91 Thank you, thank you, thank you. The mindset of certain Rangers fans that Hank is untouchable is absurd. I've been a Rangers fan since 1990/1991. Well before Hank, and I'll still be a fan after Hank. Giving him a huge contract would be a gigantic albatross on the franchise and it's not worth it.
9 months ago on Lightning 5, Rangers 0
@Scotty Hockey Typical of the people who cover the Rangers: a win is because Henrik is amazing and the best goalie ever. A loss is because the team can't score and they should be able to figure out the other team's mediocre goalie. It's as if they actually believe Henrik is a god.
@Zombieoni He forgot to work on his glove hand while yachting around New York this summer.
@HJB91 If he doesn't re-sign with the Rangers (a distinct possibility) nobody would have run him out of town; and then the Rangers get nothing.
@HJB91 It's harder to score goals when your goalie puts you in a huge hole to begin the game.
"...so if Talbot gets the start over Lundqvist Wednesday night do the Rangers officially have a goaltending controversy?"
Yes. They do. The controversy started at the end of last season when Hank said "“I’ve had a great time in New York. They have treated me really well. We’ll see where it goes.” and then he didn't sign in the off-season. He was hob-knobbing around New York in the off-season and not working towards this season. And, don't say "well he earned his time off". Sure, take some time off - but don't flaunt it over social media. What did Brad Richards do? Focus on this season. I digress. If he continues to be inconsistent this season there's no reason for the Rangers to give him a MASSIVE contract which he so wants. You can't blame the guy for that; you have to also see the writing on the wall that if the Rangers won't give him the money - he will go somewhere else. Might as well get draft picks and scoring if he's just going to walk at the end of the season. This isn't to say he won't turn it around, but it's becoming a controversy.
Haha, with games like last night from The King this plan is not going to work. Yes, the Rangers need to score more. Yes, Hank gave up a bunch of soft goals. Anyone who watches hockey, or has played hockey knows that it's immensely harder to score goals from behind; Hank has to stop letting up early soft goals. But, what does he care? He's going to sign in the off-season with the highest bidder, which will not be the Rangers.
9 months ago on Rest Now, Could Lead to Success for Lundqvist, Rangers Later
@HJB91 And they would have had exactly the same number of cups. Who cares? He fell apart in the 2012 Eastern Conference Finals and was embarrassed by the Devils.
9 months ago on Rangers 3, Stars 2
The myth of The King continues on. It's a team game, the goalie and players both did their job and the Rangers won. Although, Hank did celebrate the win like he won the cup. Act like you've won a game before dude, it's November.

@iwantgaborik @Kevin DeLury @MiddleSwine Using hypothetical situations to make Hank's performance better than it was is absurd.
@SmellyKisio Letting in two goals isn't stealing the game. Letting in two goals is a solid performance which was backed equally by a solid three goal effort by the offense. It's a three period game, he was AMAZING in the FIRST period.
@Kevin DeLury @fin_fang_foom Exactly, and it wasn't always like this. Hank used to play more conservative but the past few seasons he's become an erratic jitterbug in net trying to make the big save. The dude has an ego the size of Manhattan island and constantly is looking to make the big flashy highlight save. Diving around, flopping around, head-butting the puck (which create ERRATIC REBOUNDS FOR HIS D), etc. He's more interested in being a star than fundamentals anymore. Talbot is the future, Hank is just keeping the net warm until he's traded this season.
I am so sick of literally EVERYONE covering the Rangers giving Hank credit for being SUPER HUMAN, GOD LIKE, KING LIKE after every win. Reality check people: he let in two goals. Yes, the first period was incredible. Yes, there are THREE periods in a game. The Rangers won because they SCORED THREE GOALS, and only let in two. That's it. When the Rangers lose and Hank is in net all everyone moans and complains is "THE RANGERS DIDN'T SCORE ENOUGH TO HELP HANK OUT!!!", then, when the Rangers DO SCORE enough the headlines and accolades are "HANK WON THE GAME FOR US (by letting in two goals but forget that)". Good God, there's more to the Rangers than just him. I'm stoked they won, glad they found a way to score, and happy we have reliable goal-tending. That's it. He's not a God.
God forbid our Vezina winning King of goaltender makes a routine glove save on a 4th line plug.
9 months ago on Moore Headed to Press Box?
Once again Henrik gets outplayed in a goalie duel. Rask is better, hands down. Henrik has been too focused on marketing himself as "the King", becoming a celebrity, playing guitar with famous people, and going to tennis matches than he is with winning. News Flash to all of us Rangers fans: He won't always be the goaltender. Please stop making excuses for his terrible glove hand, his inability to handle the puck, and his new-found reliance on playing back in the net and doing the jitterbug flop around for the flashy highlight save. It's not 2007, it's not 2011/2012 - that was a long time ago. Hank the "King" made 20 saves on only 22 shots. Rask made 43 saves on 44 shots. He won a Vezina once, sure, guess who else has? Ryan Miller, and Jose Theodore. Personal accolades from previous years mean nothing in the here and now.

@vatsupper8 His job is to stop pucks, not to tell the rest of the team how to fore-check and score goals.
9 months, 1 week ago on Lundqvist Was Pissed After Last Night's Loss
@TruBluEsp The team clearly plays differently this year when Talbot is in net versus Hank in net. Is Hank a locker room cancer? Well, his best friend in New York was, and is Sean Avery. They're both divas, they're both only worried about themselves. Was Hank always like that? No, not at all. But what was, is not what is now.
@Phildill Have you noticed when he yells at the D, too? It's a new thing he didn't use to do it. I can only imagine how angry / upset he is in the locker room between periods. Goalie is a tough job, but dude, you have to stop pucks - don't pile on your team for not scoring. Goal scorers can be just as temperamental as a diva goalie. Nobody wants either on a winning team.
Good. I hope he keeps reacting like the spoiled diva he is. It's obvious the entire team is getting sick of his "me, me, me" attitude. "I played well enough to win but the team didn't score". Thanks, buddy. Hank has been "the future" of the Rangers for 8 years now. His refusal to sign a contract in the off-season has clearly left him struggling to find focus this season. Good, you'll be traded for goal scoring and draft picks and Talbot will do what you once did: play goaltender exceptionally well for the New York Rangers. It's a shame so much mental time for Hank has been spent being a celebrity, brushing his hair, modeling suits, yachting, and not focusing on winning a cup. The Rangers will be fine without you.
Haha, Lundqvist is being exposed as the mediocre goalie he's become. Hank ran Torts out of town, nobody else did. Man up "King".
