Besides needing a center, what would be the next position you'd target, as the most needed on the Leafs?

@DeclanK @deedrag  I hate giving up tall players that have shown potential before. Colbourne keeps coming up in my mind.

@DeclanK @LyGuy @traNsplantEdneWfie  We could actually make the playoffs with guys like that but we'd be back at square one in 2 years time. Can we get a cup out of it?

Is Franson slowly improving lately on the D? I haven't heard too many complaints for the last couple of days. If so, would it be better to keep him or Robidas?

@Cameron19 @docmma @TheLoovTrain  Depends on the direction the league goes in with regards to fighting and hitting. If they cut down on these, the smaller guys can compete again for positions.

@Cameron19  Maybe Brown on RW second line or third line. I'm hoping he makes it because of his determination.

@Cameron19 @deedrag  Yeah I'm concerned because we have a few big contracts on the team. I know they have to take risks at times, to seal up guys that would leave big holes on the roster if they left but we're so close to the cap all the time it seems, that i wonder how they are going to come up with badly need cap space to make the moves they so desperately need.

Does anyone think we're going to end up buying out Dion's contract if we try to keep him for most of the term? Management has a history of doing this because they wait too long on players. Do they move it now or regret it later?

If anyone is interested in a eye opening article, read the article about the Broad Street Bullies in the Nov. 3, 2014 issue of the hockey news. Lots of comments from players about the coaching and players. It shows a lot about what it takes to win cups. The MLSE brass should be reading it. This can give them a model to use to build this team from, minus the fighting aspect.

@Mind Bomb @vinoa @deedrag @JWaterdrager  If RC wanted Reims because he gave them a shot at beating Boston and making the playoffs he would've fought for a centre or another D. Instead he didn't fight the move Nonis made. Don't get me wrong Bernier is a good goalie but you don't disrespect your current players that way. Leafs history since they disrespected Keon has been a terrible one. They still haven't learned their lesson. They keep disrespecting their players.

@vinoa @deedrag @JWaterdrager  Not blaming RC fully. But he has been known to fuck around with players. Reimer is a good example and many others come to mind on the Leafs. This doesn't include players on other teams he's coached either but there are many there also.

When a prospect comes up as good as McDavid they should have a lottery for all the teams (with even odds) that don't have a super star for that positon. No more tanking to get a superstar. If they are going to allow that shit they might as well not have any cap, period so other teams that don't try to lose, have something to compete with.

Pluses of last night's game:

1)They finally gave Bernier the shut out he deserved this season

2)Buffalo never showed up

3)Rielly played great

4)Dion's not seriously injured

5)Polak played a solid game

6)First line has a lot of potential

7)Second line started to gel

8)Team value overall when up a few percentage points

@djamon @deedrag  It should come from within but not everybody is feeling the same at the same time. When you turn around and see a guy working his ass off against impossible odds, it inspires you. you go from not believing to believing. Just ask the Bruins when they were down in game 7 how many believed they would come back. A few maybe but not all. those few are the ones that move the others to believe. They are the spark.

It's been 2 season's in a row that we lost a crucial motivators to injury. Kozun and last year, Bolland were providing spark. Even though we have a couple more players doing that, it's that extra player we seem to be missing. This is where we really lack in depth. We don't have enough players that play with heart and courage to inspire those around them..

If they have no choice but to rebuild do you think they'll redesign the jerseys again? This has been done on other teams when they want to give that feel of a fresh start. Plus they're always looking for ways to suck more cash out of us fans.

With the terrible play the Leafs have been producing, they've taken away the only thing I had left, hope! But I found new hope. A hope that they lose enough games, to guarantee a second pick.  A hope that the trades they do, result in more picks in the first round. A hope that Managmnt stops making stupid moves. A hope that all the fat gets trimmed from this organization. A hope that they finally build something to be proud of. A hope that they win the Stanley Cup again. A hope that we never see the Blue and White disease again. You see, there is hope for this team. Just not the kind the you might be hoping for.

One thing I think no one has thought about here or in the Leafs management is how every 5 years or so there is a shift in what kids are taught and how kids are coached. What was being taught 20 years ago has changed. The level that kids play at today, say at 10 years old is different than 10 year olds, 20 years ago. So kids are now being coached and taught differently, all through those stages and it's constantly evolving. When they get up to the AHL or NHL, the coaches are not ready to deal with them properly. They need to have the proper insight into what's being taught on the ice and at home. They are coddled and spoiled a lot more than they were before. They feel entitled to things like playing on the first line right away or getting the most minutes or best line mates. Too many parents telling their kids what to do behind the scenes and how great they are. A lot of them think they are the next coming of Orr or Gretzky. Look at the responses from Kadri and Gardiner as examples (they are not the only ones), that show that type of culture that's being breed at the younger levels. It's hard for a coach and his assistants to battle that too. Older coaches grew up were if you make money like a professional, you better play like one. You better learn everything right away. You should know the basics. Too many of these players are in awe of themselves over a little dangle or how many points they have. Look at the successful teams like L.A. and Chicago, The players are not in awe of themselves, they respect their organization and do what they're told, "PUT TEAM FIRST". I know it's a lot to take in but some organizations have made an art form out of it. Anyways we need coaching staff that can recognize this shift and adapt to it, along with players that are not high on themselves and think they know everything.
