So maybe we are just picking fights we can win?  Whats wrong with that?  There are very few forces to match the USA.  China does not want to engage us and neither do the Russians.  The North Koreans might be crazy enough to do it but would NEVER win...inflict heavy blood maybe but only if they shot their nukes.  We control the situations so we will be successful with as little losses as possible.  We do it because we can.  When we can't we can still fight with extreme effectiveness.  I don't see what you have your panties in a wad about?

@borisbadenov1520 Boris exactly!  Politicians don't need soldiers; soldiers are just an extension of a state's politics anyway... it was put out by the USA you harbor or aid our enemies you are fair game.  I do not know enough about how involved Al Marwani was but I do know that Awlaki advocated death to americans and nobody checked him in Yemen or SA and that al qaeda is a disease and must not be allowed to reform or grow or infest another place.  The mob is at the mall ...right now it is the mob rulers that are killing.

@Ahleen So now Maliki comes with his hat in hand that we bought him and wants our help and all control.....not happening.  Karzai is smarter than that but I acquiesce to you Ahleen the USA does not need to be in IQ or AF... let them sort it out.  We went in limited stayed limited and left limited, John Cantor is correct if we "go to war" let it be total and complete or NOT AT ALL!

our fault? seriously?  As has been said numerous times our forces there stopped the eminent civil war that is about to happen maybe it needs to, I am not for war but the right of self determination will rise to the top eventually in some form or another and maliki does not have the where withal to keep the Kurds Sunnis and Shias together.  It is just a matter of time, but not our fault at all.

I have been receiving updates on this discussion for the last 5 days and while all the responses are an exercise in our right to free speech, who can tell me how to overcome the math?  Folks as much as I hate to see suffering and as much as I would like to see universal health care how would the ACA be funded?  where is the money coming from?  I submit that the math is the problem like gravity when you jump off the Empire State bldg it affects Dems Repubs Libs communists green party get it? the math is the issue you solve the math and I for one will be on board.  Until then why don't we quit kicking the math "can" down the road?

@Ben Enki 2020 Excellent unwrapping of Schactman.  It is very disturbing that most of the FP avant guard are behaving as sycophants to Rouhani just because he is no Ahmadinejad.
