Red - you deserve to win this. Just mortgage everything you own. You can't take that stuff with you anyway and think of all the people your money will help (along with your self-esteem, bragging rights, and ego).
We do expect the lowdown the next day though - go get em Tiger!

What do you mean no baseball to talk about. The Hot Stove has been plenty active.
I think Jose Canseco is playing a Softball Tournament somewhere - has to be. So hit the ground and net all you wannabe journalists we need to know this stuff because in a month it will be too busy.
Seriously - I love all Christmas has to offer. What I will not miss is all the grovelling charities do during the 'season'.I believe in compassionate giving but if you have to make December your 'gift month' you are deceived. How about a year where one of these 'Charities' says "we have so much we want to give and not receive this month (December)".I have no more to say

Where to hell is Ugeth Urbina?Wait - I have an idea - how about we send Jenks and Slackey on a 'scouting mission' south of the border? I know somehow they will end up 'detained indefinitely'.As a side note Jenks looks like he would fit well as a member of ZZ Top

@Tex19 The only thing having a daughter did for me was to increase my awareness of 'pretty things' and decide to clean my shotgun in the presence of her first date XD
Now I am not saying Bobby V has connections but if we see him get up in the dugout and give Josh the 'family farewell kiss' on both cheeks......
I'm just saying I don't think shenanigans and pissy attitudes are going to be allowed in the Bobby V camp.
I hope this thing is all overblown - it is fodder for some great humor though. Good job Red.
Oh - sorry, I missed one other 'Offerman Offering':
2 years, 11 months ago on 2012, You’ll Never Top This
I am thinking the new Republic here in Beantown baseball is going to be interesting yet some how 'tamer' than the Horse that ran off the track in September.
I am not expecting to even see minor league outbreaks such as this memorable one:
Then of course we have had the likes of Jose Offerman (bat attacker) and Ugeth 'Uggie' Urbina who ran afoul of the law south of the border. I believe we'll not see the likes of them in Red Sox ranks during the Cherington Marionette Era.
Yes, these are interesting - yet disturbing - stories. I hope we have the kind of drama that stems from a team that is united, focused and known for 'pulling out a few tight ones'.
I really have seen my share of 'benches clearing brawls'. Though interesting it can cause a season ending injury to a multi million dollar player. The game just ain't what it used to be.
Red, thanks for the memories. I do hope the only headline we read in the NYP is this:
'Frustrated Yankees have no answer to Boston as any hope of post season play vanishes'. That my friends is a headline!
@Fla Beck/Becky I read that article too....XD

The ball dropped, we hugged, we kissed and those who were not completely intoxicated navigated home in vehicles.

I sit here flabbergasted. I know Maine is not the center of economic activity but EX-SUEEZE Me?
I do not know more than a handful of people in this state making a six figure income. To think of someone getting a six figure return just makes the nerve receptors in my cerebellum scream.
I assume the Steinbrenner's file quarterly taxes - so how could they have been this far off? I'm sure it was a clerical error on the Steinbrenner's part.
Ya - right, I am a conservative but this is just why conservatives make the news. Why is it that people making great money cannot stop until they have picked up every penny (even if it is not theirs to pick up)?
So my only question is this - does this have one whit to do with Boston baseball other than one more slash at the Yankees Jugular?
Happy New Years everyone!!
I love the speculation - this is much better than having all the 'we assume to win kids' lineups. Really, we can actually watch this year and see it build and unfold (instead of sit on the edge of our chairs watching the Superstars pull our hearts out through little slits in our chests).

@VJ in Stuttgart I think you can find them on craigslist. What we do now that Santa is back in his 'City of Industry' is barter and return. I bet there is one gift you can return to get enough money for a 'slightly used set (from the family of the kid that caught one in the temple).
Many Merry More to all of you too!
For those of the 'Festivus Persuasion' hope no injuries were encountered in the 'testing of the strengths'.
For those of the 'brown bottle persuasion' may you wipe that hangover out early with something special that someone special got you (even if that is yourself). Then go about the day in full fledged JOY
For the rest of us who find a message of peace and love - don't worry if you shoot your eye out. You have two; plus all the other people God put on earth to help you get by.
So Merry Christmas to all and to all a good buzz!!

I know we all love the Sox. I know we want to try (as all good frugal New Englanders do) to make the most out of every event and opportunity.
Don't get me wrong, I am as big a Youk fan as anyone but I think we overlooked a great toy no longer available. I hope someone out there remembers this fine gift you could get your kids in 1951 (yes, I know there was not a single Pink Hat then).
I was wondering if anyone had one for sale? I was wondering if anyone who got one lived past age 50?
Well anyways. I hope some of you are prosperous enough to get your kids their very own lumber yard. Remember, if not, a Red Ryder, lever action 200 shot air rifle with a compass and 'thing that told time' in the stock', is a great alternative.
Who gives a crap if we lose an eye here or there? You have 2 eyes right?
Merry Christmas ALL

Yes, and some Figgy-Pudding!
@Madraider@Denton Ya, I get that. Tito could have done a better job using Tek properly too. He did do a lot for the team. Tek never told Tito how he should be played I'll wager.
I'm not giving him a free pass. Yes, he did falter at the end but had the Sox offered him a coaching/development position a year ago we would be blaming someone still but Tek would be far better off.
That's all I'm saying.
3 years ago on Change The “C” From “Captain” To “Coach?”

3 years ago on My Favorite Christmas Special…
@Madraider No arguments from ANYONE - ANYWHERE on the Slackey deal. He'd still owe us money if he pitched and won 40 complete games.
Don't waste any more time of energy cursing him or any of his connections or family.
The light of that deal makes the whole Drew deal look favorable.
I'm anticipating a very entertaining adventure this year. I got a feeling this is going to feel more like Texas Hold 'em than what we have come to expect from Boston baseball.
That was October, how about we get an amazing surprise on 12/25/2011?
Maybe we sign a bonafide right fielder? We have not had one since Trot.....
This is the one thing I detest about Boston. We always seem to have a jury out.
Why do we need to put blame or weight of any kind on 'Tek'?
He did a GREAT job handling a complex and unstable pitching staff.
Why do we focus on his RISP performance? What other MLB team would judge a backstop this way.
I know - we are Boston and we have set the bar just a little lower than the 'Bronx Standard'.
Can we just hope and pray that Henry & CO can see that the best resolution and benefit to Red Sox INC would be to make Jason integral in the development staff please?
Okay as McGreevy was quoted - 'Nuff Said'
@poprocksncoke very nice - thanks for sharing and Merry Christmas
