@MachineLaw No doubt. That's such unbelievable bullshit that I'm surprised it was even posted as a rumor. :P
@da1illest For sure. I never win anything, so it was a pleasant surprise to see the e-mail informing me that i had won this sitting in my inbox. I'm eager to try it out. Thanks indeed, GamingCX! :)
I chew on Twizzlers and drink Barq's Root Beer. The longest I've ever played in one sitting? Well it's been awhile since I've had the time to play more than an hour a day, but back when I was a kid and had plenty of free time to waste during the Summer, my best friend and I once did a 24 hour NES marathon culminating in Super Mario Bros. 3 shortly after the game came out. Good times. :)
@DerekJamesBurns Derek, saying that it shouldn't creates the reasonable expectation that it won't. So when it does, that upsets people. So the way that I see it, Sony would be better off just telling people that gameplay will in fact be affected by maintenance next time out, even if there's a slim chance that it won't. Sure, people would be upset by that, but it would bother them far less to be told to expect not to be able to play online for a certain amount of time than to be told that maintenance probably won't affect gameplay only to have exactly that happen.
TL;DR: People are far less likely to get pissed off if they don't feel like they've been dicked around. Don't create expectations and then totally fail to deliver on them Just give it to us straight and we'll cope.
I don't go online with my PS3 often, but whenever I do it seems like the PSN is down for maintenance. Which is probably why I don't go online with my PS3 often, now that I think about it. Well that and the slow-as-molasses download speeds for games/demos/updates and what have you.
@BaccarWozat Now this may just be me, but I was raised to understand that when you're completely reliant on someone else to do something for you, then you should have the humility and the basic human decency to appreciate that they're doing it for you at all. Especially when they do it and ask nothing of you in return for the effort.
So what it all comes down to for me is that instead of being an ass about it when SA's GCCX translation team doesn't give you exactly what you want, maybe you could step back and take a moment to remember that you are in fact completely reliant upon their efforts, and so perhaps you're not entitled to it after all. Besides, it's not as if they're pissing in your face and calling it rain. They do consistently great work. Maybe it doesn't always meet with your precise expectations, but I'm kind of having trouble figuring out why you can't accept that, or how it's anyone's problem but your own.
Now, furrymessiah might call it a fallacy to suggest it, but I honestly think that doing this yourself really is the only way that it's ever going to be done exactly the way you want it to be. I mean, how likely is it that the SA GCCX team is even aware of your complaints at all, or that they wouldn't simply write them off as nothing more than entitled moaning even if they were? Not very likely at all, I'd think. They're certainly not going to bend over backward for one person anyway, much less someone who doesn't appear to appreciate what they do. So I suppose that you don't have much of a choice if you're hell-bent on having it done your way. I wish you all the best of luck with that!
@BaccarWozat I actually thought it was pretty good myself. But then, I dig watching Arino and crew interact as much as I do watching him play games.
Anyway, I'm pretty sure that they're going to release a gameplay video too, but it's likely to be pared down as well since from what I can tell this event was live, and he played the game for about 12 hours. I personally don't care to watch him spend hours upon hours repeating the same level over and over again, so I'm okay with that. Your mileage may vary. Obviously.
Sweet! Thanks Something Awful translation team, and GamingCX. :)
@adnoctum23 It's on this site, actually. Unless there's a new one that I'm not aware of, in which case, bring it on! :D
@furrymessiah They're not asking you to even sign up, much less pay them. I got the newest episode before it went up here, and it didn't cost me a dime.
I think you should kinda check the site out. It's not as bad as you think it is. Seriously. ;)
For some reason Livefyre isn't retaining my paragraphs, so I inserted a bunch of lines in there to help separate them instead. It looks tacky, but at least it's not a huge wall of text any longer...
@hhhhhhhhhh I agreed with Erin because he summed up how I felt about Weaboo subtitle groups. I agreed with the other guy simply because I thought the AFD gag was in bad taste, though I had no idea that SA was behind it at the time. It wouldn't have changed my mind one bit though. Like I said, a crap joke is a crap joke is a crap joke. In fact, I only responded to that guy up there because I take issue with the idea that he thinks he's qualified to tell anyone how they ought to feel about the joke one way or the other, and thought it was ridiculous of him to suggest that being upset by it is to be ignorant or unappreciative of the work that goes into their legitimate efforts. Unlike you though, I can address someone in a reasonable tone. I don't have to fly off the handle. Well, unless I'm provoked of course, and then all bets are off. Though even then I'll probably take the high road because I'm not a scummy little prick by nature or by design. Neither Something Awful's prior output nor their timeliness was ever called into question. That's crap that you read into my Likes and my sole post on the subject in order to justify being a self-righteous, finger-waving prick to me for no good reason. Well done. You should feel really great about that. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------People like you seriously disgust me. You so lack even the tiniest bit of authority in your offline lives that you go online and and act like insufferable douche-bags from behind the safety and anonymity of your screen-names, and you do it just so that you can feel like your existences aren't totally meaningless. I'm tired of it. There was no reason why you couldn't have given me the benefit of the doubt and ask questions of me. Instead you chose to assume the worst and used it as a jumping-off point for acting like an outright prick, just so that you could catch the oh-so-intoxicating sense of superiority that you so sorely need in your life.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well fuck that. I'm not responsible for your problems, and I'm sure as hell not going to bear the brunt of your frustration with your life. Take it out on your parents, or your bully, or whomever or whatever the hell is making your life miserable, but don't you ever dare take it out on me again, you got it? Please tell me that we have an understanding here.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And listen, if you can't be bothered to treat me with some small measure of respect and make a sincere attempt at reasonable discourse when you address me in the future, then don't bother responding to me at all. I'm not exactly in a very emotionally stable place right now, what with just having been laid off just last week. The last thing that I need at the moment is for some faceless mouth-breather to fly off the handle at me like a fucking psychopath for no good reason. Either we talk like two adults, or we don't talk at all. Got it? Thanks.
@Furluge Yeah, so...their hard work is appreciated, sure, but a bad joke is a bad joke no matter what effort went into their prior translations. That said, reading the thread on Something Awful makes the whole thing a little more impressive, so it's not all a waste. And I'm sure that their actual honest hard work will continue to be appreciated just the same as it's ever been in spite of the ire regarding this AFD joke. ;)
@abrusszeno Well, if you can't think of one single movie that had large-scale battles in it that featured effective CGI and that everyone dug the shit out of just the same, then maybe you're not qualified to put your two cents in here.
For anyone looking to pick up a copy, you can buy one at the following link. They also have it on Blu-Ray. http://www.rightstuf.com/cgi-bin/catalogmgr/2zpfKuq9tdkhM8q3O3/browse/item/90068/4/0/0
@BAM2012 You can get it from Right Stuff. http://www.rightstuf.com/cgi-bin/catalogmgr/2zpfKuq9tdkhM8q3O3/browse/item/90068/4/0/0
They also have it on Blu-Ray.
@SsJVasto Um...you do understand that motion-capture would allow the actor to fight another actor that they could later replace with a CGI monster, right? With the right choreography you can do a pretty convincing job, especially if the thing you're fighting is essentially humanoid in figure as the aliens are in this flick. Not that I disagree with you. Practical effects are always more impressive to me, but CGI has its place as well and shouldn't just be dismissed offhand like it always seems to be, especially around here. Hell, some of the modern movies that we all love wouldn't be possible today without CGI, or would look a hell of a lot more like high-budget home-videos without it.
Has anyone seen the Archfiend video where he rants about James' IndieGoGo campaign and calls Mike an asshole for doing nothing more than respectfully disagreeing with him after he took it upon himself to send him a scathing message criticizing James for the fundraiser? Holy fucking shit is that guy unhinged.
@TobiasMathes You're just a baby. I'll be 33 in a few months. :P
@JohnnyNightrain B12, Johnny. That's one thing that's in meat that isn't in vegetables. Ovo-Lacto vegetarians don't need to take supplements to get it but vegans do, and it's very important that they do.
I apologize for not addressing the rest of your post. It's just that besides pretty much preaching to the choir in regards to the dismal quality of store-bought food these days, I think you've totally misread me here. I never was out to argue that vegetarianism is wrong or that eating meat is right. I have no horse in that particular race one way or the other as I firmly believe in living and let living. To each their own and all that. I just took umbrage with the idea that it's ignorant for folks to believe that vegetarians don't get enough vitamins in their diet when doctors have been saying exactly that for pretty much as long as people have been vegetarians. Whether right or wrong, I don't think that conclusion is one of ignorance.
