@johnnyb3910 Edmonton way overpaid for him. He is not a 5 million dollar player. He would have been stupid to pass up that big pay check. I don't think the Rangers would have offered more than 2 myn per for a couple of years. IMHO

@wjl Don't forget that he probably has 80% of his shots blocked. Would much rather have Stralman

I thought Hank was terrible last night. He was out of position on 3 of the goals. He totally misplayed the shots and his angles were horrible. This might have been the worst game I have seen him play this year. This was a game we easily could have won with decent goaltending. Me for one am tired of cutting Hank any slack. He is earning 8 myn a year (well not really earning it) and is not playing up to his potential. You can say all you want about him being a big game / playoff goalie but in order to do that he has to back this team now in order to make the playoffs. He has constantly been outplayed by inferior goalies all year. Time to sit his ass for a handful of games.

Unfortunately could not watch the game as my Direct TV was out of commission because of the snow. Sounds like I didn't miss much. Neill your last comment about Stall on Callahan for most of the game explains WHY he probably scored 2 from right in front. Staal can not defend in front of the net. He is too timid and soft. he NEVER clear the front always choosing to stick check and finesse the puck away. Just my opinion.

Great all around team effort last night. Back to back complete 3 period games by this team make them look impressive.

The only negative thing I can say about last nights win was that Micheletti was back in the broadcast booth. And man did he suck again. He is god awful. Everything the Rangers do is exquisite. (I actually believe he used that word last night.)

Bring back Maloney.

@EHBIGAPPLE @Rangers_54 I don't think the coaches emotions or his lack of yelling and  / or screaming have anything to do with the teams lack of compete. These are professional athletes who are being paid a ton of money to compete at this level.  IMO a coach is there to teach, communicate and tweak things as he sees fit. Granted he could send a message by sitting a few of his underachieving stars in the press box for a game or two. I think that would be enough to get his message across.  Look at where all the ranting and raving has gotten Torts.

@NJRangers81 @scrangersfan Not true. Maloney does radio and is a plaesure to listen to whenever I can not watch the game. He is very honest about the team and calls the play by paly exactly as it should be call. Michelletti is very insulting to all fans who even have a basic understanding of the game. We know what we are seeing on the ice. Crap is crap no matter how you try and package it.

Neill. Great commentary about Maloney. I really enjoy listening to him. He calls it like it is. No sugar coating, No stupid hype. Just the facts. I really wish they would replace Michelletti. I can't stomach listening to him and his the Rangers can't do anything wrong BS. It is insulting to everyone who even has a slight understanding of the game. As far as this team goes they better get their shit together real soon. The best thing I can say about this team is that they are consistently inconsistant. It appears on most nights that this team has no heart or compete level in them with the exception of a few players. Hank has been mediocre at best. He is constantly being outplayed by less talented goalies.

I don't understand the decision to send Allen back to Hartford and keep that Kostka clown. I gotta tell ya some of the decisions AV makes truly puzzle me. Is he looking at something different than what most of us are seeing.

That was for sure the worst effort I have seen in a long long time. Nobody wanted to hit, skate or even be in the building from what I saw. Staal has been absolutely terrible. He does not hit, does not clear the crease and is almost as big a liability as Kostka (who should be playing in an adult league somewhere). The first goal goal was a good indication of things to come. Stepan was 2 steps behind his man Hopkins. This is how the Rangers played the whole game; 2 steps behind always chasing the puck. Is Tanner Glass this years Taylor Pyatt?  I think so. When does AV pull the plug on this experiment gone bad. Without Hank this game is easily 4 or 5 to 1.

My last comment today on the Tanner Glass / 4th line situation. If the Rangers ant to compete at the same level they did last year they better figure out how to field an effective 4th line. In today's NHL it is imperative to be able to put 4 effective lines on the ice every game. Up until this point I only see 3. Duclair and Hayes on the 4th line with a player like Glass is totally non productive. Either put a grinding hitting line together to form a 4th line or improve the talent on the line to make it another offensive threat. What the Rangers are fielding now will not be a workable solution.

Man tough game to lose. Kostka and Hunwick  were not very good in our defensive zone. Duclair was real weak back checking on that short handed goal. He was just coasting and never picked up his check. Crips does Staal ever NOT get his shot blocked. I still maintain that Girardi does not belong on the PP. He has zero offensive instincts. On the plus side I liked the line combos for the top 9. Conor Allen does not look at of place. Once Moore and Boyle are back next week it should solidify our back end. Question is how do you make playing time for Hunwick? I agree that Glass is pretty useless and is a waste of a roster spot.

@Purinton If Kostka has any talent you would think he would have been a regular on some team by the time he was 28 years old. He is slow as shit and got his doors blown off in the preseason and now you saw that he makes horrible puck decisions in his own zone. He single handily changed the whole momentum of that game. I hope he has already been sent back to Hartford.

Kevin. Excellent Analysis. Klein Was terrible. The Duke was excellent. Hagelin looks out of place with Brass and Zucc. While blazingly fast I don't know that he has the offensive creativity to play with those 2. Again I think Kreider would be a better fit. Talbot looked like a back up goalie last night. Nothing special. Having said all this I think the first 10 to 15 games will be used to do a lot of tinkering to find workable combinations and to sort out personnel. Oh yeah and I am really liking what I have seen from Stempniak. I think he is a keeper. I still can't believe there was no penalty on that hit to Zucc. That was so blatant.

@TomDundie I humbly disagree with this lineup. Guys like Lombardi, Malone and Mueller have not stood out above the likes of Fast, Lindberg and Duclair. Why keep an over he hill player who will not contibute as much as some of the younger players. I really think Fast and Lindberg are NHL ready and Duclair deserves a longer look based on what he shown in the pre-season.

Wow Kevin, Kostka?? He is so slow that Richards could beat him in a race with one tooth tied behind his back and Brian Boyle on his shoulders. Not impressed with him at all. I strongly feel that he is a defensive liability as opposing forwards will consistently blow his doors off. I think the kids with the best chance to stick are Fast, Lindberg, Hayes, Haggerty and Duclair. I know they can't all stay but I think those are players left in the mix. As far as the 7th D man I think that goes to Hunwick. Just MHO.

I can't wait for the roster cut downs so we can see the players who actually have a chance to make the big club play together. That Kostka guy is probably the slowest skater I have seen since Hamrlik. He was awful.

Damm that is ridiculous. I hope Sather smartens up after giving Girardi that crazy contract. Girardi is not worth the $$$ he is being paid and Staal is certainly not worth anything close to 7myn a year. He is damaged good. One concussion or poke in the eye from being finished for his career. Speaking of Girardi, I think you saw what will happen when you press him hard on the forecheck. His puck moving skills are awful.

Real Happy they signed Moore. My only concern is that Sather turned the screws real hard to sign him so cheap. If that's the case and I am Moore I am bolting the first chance I get. Nobody like to get screwed over and this contract appears to do just that. Compared to what Savard in Columbus signed for. Just MHO.

I like JM a whole bunch. I think he has a whole lot of potential upside. Dare I say similar style to Mcdonagh. I think last year was a first for him without the overbearing harness of Torts. I think we saw flashes of what he is capable of. A slick skating D man with offensive upside and good size. I think this could be a breakout year for him.

@scrangersfan @wherewasi I agree 120% with this. I don't think it is a physical thing with Nash. I strongly believe it is a heart or of lack of which is the problem. Point of reference, look at his first trip back to Columbus. He played with passion and was a beast. Most nights there was no passion just an empty sweater. He has to have the desire to bring it every night. That is what separates the great players from the also rans.

@DPMohr64 @KevinTheNYRBlog @jasonshyer Well put Kevin. When the shoe (skate) is on the other foot and the team has all the leverage they are usually sticking it to the player. I have absolutely no sympathy for any of the players or teams. This is a business and both should do what is most beneficial for them. There are so few exceptions (Zucc being one that comes to mind).

I Like those choices. I think MSL is around for at least one more year after this contract ends. He also would be a great mentor for Mcdonagh and Zucc is literally the heart and soul of this team.

Not sure why everyone is talking about Miller replacing Poopalot. I think Miller initially will be slotted as the 3rd line center replacing Richards. If he can handle the defensive responsibilities (can he be worse that Horseteeth?) I think that is where he will be.

@fs2020 Elite 4th line player??? Wow I have never in of a 4th line player being given elite status. Listen I liked Boyle and the role he played for the team but losing him is not that big a deal. He is a 4th line player who is a very good penalty killer. We will survive his loss and I think Glass will provide upside in skating ability and toughness.
