I wanted Dooley to succeed in the beginning, although I wasn't crazy about a Dooley being on the sidelines at Tenn...it just didn't make sense. After the first year I wasn't sure, during the second year he just didn't look right on the sideline. There was no fire in him, no energy or sense of urgency...his teams looked to me playing not to lose instead of going out and taking the game. This was also evident after halftime, they never came out of the locker room to take control of a football game, always unsure of themselves including the coaches. He may be a decent positon coach or ass. coach, but head coach certainly not. I see a different side to Butch Jones...a sense of urgency. I don't know if he will succeed...but UT is better off anyway
I see your point as far as forgiveness goes....but Tennessee has gone down that wild road once before with Kiffin, lesson learned, thier not going to do it again with Petrino. He just doesnt seem like a good fit for UT, comes across very arrogant and cocky, kinda like another coach....Uhhhh Kiffin. You see where that got UT.
I've said it before and I'll say it for the last time....UT does not need that type of person or coach, I dont care how successful he is, he's a freakin liability...not only for WKU now, but for his wife and family as well. Never have liked how this guy carried himself at Arkansas or Atlanta. Tennessee knew this, they dont want this type of person leading their program, let it go already enough said
Yes very true.....to H*** with what Mike Hamilton has done to this program hiring all these bumms screwing UT up. Get back to the way UT football was, and thats run by people who know the program and care about it
I like Chris Peterson and the guy from TCU as well....need some defense here thats probably the priority, it would be in my mind anyway. Games and championships are won with a good defense
As a Tennessee fan for close to 30 years, I have to say this is the worst I've ever seen the program. When Majors came back in '77 it was little before my time, but I got to see him turn around the program in the early 80's. UT is in the top ten winningest programs in all of college football, second winningest program in the SEC. Thier success has been remarkable over the years since they have to recruit so hard to get the players, unlike Florida, LSU and Georgia where they just bring recruits in on buses from around the state and sign'em up. I have no doubt that Tennessee will be back competing for championships again if they get the right HC and staff
I dont like any of those names mentioned in that article.....If your going to go that route just stick with Dooley and get a different DC. I mean Tuberville c'mon, hes run his course in the SEC, Golden....another Offensive guy who knows nothing about defense. Offer the job to John Chavis for petes sake at least he knows how to run a defense, and thats really what wins games in the end
Actually I liked Johnny Majors.....most of his teams were well coached and disciplined. '88 was a bad year starting out 0-6, but that was one of the best turnarounds ever winning SEC titles in '89 and '90. The '85 team was very special obviously, but your right he did like to hit the bottle quit a bit thats for sure
@mchapman @kdlewis04 @HoustonVol
He wasnt our first choice 3 years ago when we hired him.....Muschamp turned us down, basically because of the situation the football team was in and the difficult recruiting at UT. Not really crazy about him anyway. There were other coaches that turned us down as well, with that being said, I think Dooley deserves another year considering the situation he was put in
No, no, no, no and for petes sake no.....that is not the direction that UT wants or needs to go. That guys got some serious issues, did you read the texts that guy sent to his mistress the night before a football game when he was drunk off his arse. Thats all I need to say about that
Its just not what I would say or do....thats all, just sayin. Its his opinion and I have mine to each his own. And yes bama may not be mad, but that is the kind of material that motivates opponents
As if we needed to motivate them anymore....thier already incredibly talented and well coached. Really dumb thing to say and this is coming from a UT fan
I'm a UT fan, but some of these so-called fans need to back off of Tyler Bray and the rest of these young men.....I have no doubt that they are playing hard its just not happening for them. I'm not one for bashing these kids, if I'm going to bash somebody it would be the coaches and fans that do these kinds of things
Terrible decision from this kid who was comitted to UT for so long and they stood by him, they didnt mind their verbal commits taking other visits and they told them so. He just lost immediate playing time more than likely cause UT needs the kids and depth. UT will be back on the national scene with or without dooley, the program is bigger than one head coach. I dont see arkansas winning a national championship or sec championship for that matter. If I was UT I would not try to get him back, be done with it.
