I too read the Blairs' book in the early 1980s as a college undergrad. It certainly was eye opening, but hardly a hatchet-job. It simply stipped away the myth from the man authored by so many before and after his death.
As Mr. Judas points out, its disappearance is regrettable.

@Kyle Nuss Exactly! Instead of reruns of programs they show earlier in the week.

Like I've commented so many times in the past, ESPN is the NFL Network II.

Oucheeee. That hurt because 1) you're a meanie; or 2) you're a douche.
Troll you later!

What the hell, douche? Are you A) Blind; or B) Simply a douche?
@sir boxington @JimPeterson See, I knew you'd do this, but, and I mean this with all due respect, try explaining the round robin system from the earlier days of Olympic hockey to the masses. For all intents and purposes to those who don't understand, it was a semi-final.
No need to explain that the U.S. could still have finished as low as fourth when all was said and done following the victory over the Soviets. Attempt letting people wrap that one around their heads.
Oh, and by the by, it's "You're right." not "Your right." You know, as long as we're getting technical.

@sir boxington You're absolutely right, and we get it; but who the hell cares?
@nicodemusboffin @DFreshHookup Yeah, but in every state in the union, Manziel isn't old enough to drink, yet somehow the enablers continue to enable his behavior. And, the Mannings aren't off the hook either. They're enabling his behavior by denying anything was wrong with his behavior. That is, indeed, a privilege Manziel is enjoying!

You know there are times in life when people have bona fide spit takes. Well, my computer screen needed to be cleaned anyway. A little morning coffee certainly didn't hurt.
ESPN is truly at its most hilarious when trying to be sincerely funny.
As for the comments of those over analyzing this piece with critiques of NBC's coverage and ESPN's lack of coverage, not to mention hockey in general, get a life! Just enjoy the brilliance of it all!

@ZZtop_VH With all due respect to you, you do realize hockey isn't exactly on ESPN's radar? (I realize you know that.) They just might as well call ESPN NFL Nework II--with a dash of NBA.
Frankly, though, they did run a piece yesterday about the lineage of NHL draft prospects Darnell Nurse and Seth Jones. This, however, was due to Nurse being related to former NFL quarterback Donovan McNabb and Jones being the son of former NBA player Popeye Jones.
No mention, though, of Max Domi or Anthony Brodeur...or about six other players related to former NHL stars.

This really wasn't worth posting. Schapp's one of the good guys on ESPN, and I'm as critical of the World Wide Leader as anyone.

I get a kick out of media outside of Chicago always referring to the announcers for Chicago teams as "homers". Who the hell do you think pay these guys? The announcers in any market are "homers".
I'll admit that Vin Scully's the most professional announcer around, but if you don't think he's pulling for the Dodgers, you're bat guano crazy!
