I would say that you have a good point there. If I were a highly skilled virtual assistant I won’t stick to freelancing sites where my experience and expertise where not been valued. Virtual assistants cost depends on their experience and expertise and with bidding wars on freelancing site these would be useless. Another is what you pay is what you get. One way to hire a competent virtual assistant that won’t cost you too much is to hire from other countries like India and the Philippines. In the Philippines the cost of living is low compared to UK and US that is why you can hire virtual assistant for a low cost. Another is English is one of their universal languages and there will be no problem in terms of communicating with them. I recently hire virtual assistant in the Philippines( http://www.staff.com/blog/hiring-a-virtual-assistant/ ) and they work well. Hard working and with great work ethics.

I would say that not money can only help motivate employees. There are lots of different ways to motivate employees like a simple acknowledgement. Saying to an employee “good job” or “you’re doing great” is also a great way to motivate employees. This way employees would work even harder and won’t think that all the hard work that he/she has done to the company don’t come to waste. Simple things can also help motivate employees. Like in our company even though the management constantly monitors employees on how employees use the computer at work using this tool ( http://www.timedoctor.com/blog/2011/04/14/compare-screen-monitoring-software ). It does not block social media and all unrelated to work websites. These way employees can get motivated and inspire while working that also boost employee’s productivity.

Great strategy of a time management tool Charlie, this is very useful. I would like to try this soon. There are also different ways and strategies to be productive; all we need to do is figure out what we needed most. It happened that I work often in front of the computer can you imagine how vulnerable I am from distractions online. What I do is I read some time management tips like Tim Ferriss book the 4-Hour Workweek. I also use a time management tool that tracks time accurately when working on each task like this one.(

My key to follow my schedule habits and finish tasks on time is discipline. With discipline I would say that I can be more productive.
