@claeys Sloan has his teams foul way too much, doesn't believe in taking 3's, and isn't receptive at all toward advanced stats. I don't like Brooks, but Sloan is stuck in the 90's.
@OohWeeItsVelvetHoop @Amnesty Perkins Really solid on defense? When was the last time you watched basketball, 2008?
@OohWeeItsVelvetHoop ...not even close
@Jax Raging Bile Duct Still waiting to hear about those matchups...realistic playoff matchups preferably
@perk is my best friend @TheFix82 I'd be more receptive to that argument if Brooks, or even Perkins himself, had shown any indication of being willing to severely curtail Perkins' playing time (as in bench him completely against teams like the Rockets and play him 10 minutes max against teams where his skills supposedly add value but in fact don't - Grizzlies). We have an extremely stubborn coach.
@perk is my best friend Value will be added simply by eliminating the option of playing him.
A: It's human nature to be less critical of people if you like them on a personal basis.
B: Is Perk a good enough person to accept a severely reduced role on the bench for the good of the team? Or will he sulk and complain that he isn't starting?
Royce, it seems like you "absolutely love" every Thunder player. Understand that you're an independent blogger, not someone on the organization payroll.
Praising Perkins' "particular set of skills" when he played like dog shit in the one matchup where his skillset was most relevant (Memphis) is just laughable.
@okcjim @TheFix82 The point is that we lost to a very good team. Don't diminish their accomplishment because it makes you feel better.
@okcjim @TheFix82 Because 1999, 2003, 2005, and 2007 are definitely relevant to 2013. Who won the last time those 2 teams met in the playoffs again?
The end of the game shouldn't fool anyone. Fire Brooks.
That's a fitting end, frankly. Durant didn't choke because he hasn't played better anyway.
Take the 3. If you're the worse team, don't risk overtime.
So what's Durant's excuse? Tired?
Memphis kind of shut Russ down during the regular season. Let's not just assume we'd win this series with him.
At the least, it'll give this organization an unwarranted excuse to shy away from necessary changes.
