Please tell me why Pop left Bonner in for so long last night in the 4th? If (always a BIG if in the playoffs) Matt is hitting 40%+ on his threes we can keep him on the court but when he is hesitant and missing like last night, he absolutely kills the Spurs flow when on the floor. He cannot set a screen, committed two and 1 fouls at the worst time and his defense was non-existent. Meanwhile, Tiago sat for that 8 minute stretch when Bonner was on the court in the 4th. Hard to watch him...

A ton of credit to Pop for going with and sticking with the second 5. That said, I was watching the game with 2 other Spurs fans and to a man we all said Noooo when we saw Bonner on the court for the last possession. My friend said " If he gets the imbound pass, he can't move or handle the ball well enough". The rest Spurs faithful is history. I have no idea what Pop was thinking with that final, critical move.

Bonner continues to imitate a traffic cone on defense, his rebounds are 90% big bounces outside the paint on poor shots and he looks like he does not want the ball anymore - zero confidence. Why the heck Pop thinks Tiago can't play 30 minutes a night is beyond me. He is young and in good shape. We have no "atttitude" on defense...you can just see it. On the positive side, we are a lot better on the offensive end than I expected. Shame we can't find even a mediocre defensive posture to match. Pop has to own this...

Going back to the Stan Albeck screaming at Artis Gilmore "Just flipping dunk it Artis!", the Spurs seem to have a serious aversion to it's bigs dunking the ball when at the rim. If I see one more Splitter, Duncan, Blair bank shot roll out from 24 inches away this year, you will hear me scream from here to DFW.

@shawnthefreak Thanks...I give the FO credit for their drafting at the positions we always have. I am also OK with the Hill for Kahwi - long-term will tell. But they have blown our cap to hell with the extensions and seem unable to make any trade of significance.

The King's are not going to trade Cousins unless someone makes them a ludicrous offer...period. RJ, Blair and Green are not going to be spinning the heads of the King's front office. Regardless of what happens this season, it is time for someone to realize that the Spurs brain trust is not what it was 4+ years ago (although the decision makers are still the same). The downturn started with the Scola fiasco (wouldn't he be nice to have right now?), the Bonner and RJ extensions and it has continued this off-season when we could not attract a single player we wanted in free agency. Diogu? Seriously?
This will be an excellent test for both teams. Are the Spurs really more athletic than last year? Are the Clippers experienced enough to withstand the rigors of a playoff tested squad? The answer probably lies somewhere in the middle and frankly I am stoked to be going to the game t watch it unfold.
