@XhavierQuinones Everyone was certainly not amazed, when I first watched it on DvD or whatever I thought it was an ok film but I was never amazed with it. And if you've watched James review of it, you'd know he wasn't amazed either. To be fair it had ok moments, the visuals were indeed good but it all got smothered in terrible music choise and cluthered scenes where you couldn't tell one robot from the other because they looked way to similar, the autobots were for the most part just really stupid and stereotypically, I liked Optimus I suppose.. didn't feel "raped" over the decisions they made with him. But Shia Lebouf and his family got on my nervers like a raging insanity, and megan fox is only there because she's hot which I feel is completely unecessary.. it doesn't help that she's portrayed as a stereotypical female douche either. We were supposed to have a movie about the transformers but what we got instead felt more like some kind of overproduced feature lenght linkin park music video. The second one pretty much flat out sucked and I take pride in not even bothering with watching the third one on DVD or anything.

@Hastaj00 They're still pretty crappy regardless of how far he's come because he doesn't make them with the respect that they deserve.
Maybe Michael Bay directed this first game.
3 years ago on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
@ClaudioPaola Yes, however. Like I've been saying, if Michael Bay is even going to have any part in the creation of this movie I won't have a single qualm about refusing to go see it.
Ah I should have mentioned in my long entry that this would be a good time to revisit the Casey Jones fan film that is budget-limited, and ultimately ten times more awesome than Bays film is likely to ever be whatever the majority of mindless moviegoers might think, it's gonna be the Batman Begins all over again I think, just adding another crappy director into the mix.
Ah, I was the discussing the same thing with a buddy today when I heard that he was involved. Personally I've decided to boycott Michael Bay's movies because it's exactly like you say James, it's gonna continue to be like this because people pay to go see these movies.
Hollywood doesn't care about your nostalgia or directors passion for filmmaking, which is why we all here should really look fordward to the AVGN Movie and personally I'm really excited about it judging from what I've seen so far, that is.. your production bloggs.
Now as for Michael Bay, I really hate that guy.. if I personally would ever be offered to work in the movie industry, I'd never work with him.. I also read that after Armageddon (which I actually find decent due to a great cast - Ben Affleck) Bruce Willis stated that he would never work with Michael Bay again, now I don't know if this is true or not but it kinda speaks for itself that not only the fan world is looking down on him.
People, here's what we gotta do: Stop going to see movies like these and I'm not just talking about Michael Bay's movies, I mean this whole genre of films in general.. y'know, the movies that are obviously just out there to make a buck, because then.. and only then, will Hollywood be forced to try new ideas and give other directors with a true passion behind filmmaking a chance. So long as Hollywood make top dollar on movies that are infact just loosely based on some classic element, it's not gonna get diffrent. I've tried to explain to my buds about how terrible this kind of thing is, without much luck but perhaps the crowd here is more mature about understanding what makes films good, I believe we are and that's why we come here to cinemassacre.
Haha, James is to frickin cool in this
3 years ago on Radical 80's Nostalgia
@cassmi Yeah, either way .. my point was that I'd rather watch something entertaining like this instead of some new "blockbuster" which was only made to earn hollywood another buck.

This is exactly why we all should love Cinemassacre, old forgotten campy b-movies are shined upon here for a brief moment to remind us of the days when bad movies could be something really fun, unlike today where bad movies are just a flat screen full of CGI and mind numbing action that doesn't even get you pumped for being bad. In other words, there's a good bad and just a boring and terrible bad. This movie is an example of good bad, or funny bad.. call it whatever you want. Am I even making any sense?
I've been wondering if James ever finished Lords of shadows that he made a brief video for a few years ago. That game has gone by pretty unrecognised but damn is it good! Like he originally said, that game didn't need to have the label Castlevania but it still delivers far more of the original stuff I'd say.

Most groovy, it's now exceeded 100.000 $ above the 75.000 $ goal. So there's no point for angry people like the Archfiend to whine about "E-begging" and the sorts, this is a statement made by fans that are more than willing to give a little to get to see a feature film done the right way, as we all know. James Rolfe knows what makes a movie good. Humour, story and style over a CGI festival so hopefully that is what we'll get :D! Just don't succomb to the easy way out now Rolfe, your fans are counting on you.

(If anyone actually has the patience to read all this... go ahead :P)
Again, very good take on these. Thought I'd make an input here and tell you that I got a buddy who haven't seen any of these movies yet, he's only 16 or so and in general have missed out on a lot of classic movies so I've tried to introduce him to a whole bunch of classics, and I plan to show him the original trilogy of these first because I want him to experience them in the way Star Wars were timelined and created so to speak.
I also thought I would mention that I don't fully agree on your take about Darth Maul, I wouldn't call him useless but rather tragically underused because to me he was one of the highlights of the prequels and except for Vaders gritty style and bad-ass charisma that enhances the saberduels he has with Obi-Wan and Luke in the originals, Mauls fight with Obi-Wan in the phantom menace was to me the best saberfight in the whole series, I thought it was so insanely cool to watch because this was before the rest of the saberfights in the remaining two movies would have a bunch of CGI melted into those specific filmparts.
Maul to me was like a demon from hell with the skills of a super ninja and I thought that made him very cool, I just wish he woulda had a bigger part in the movie and more character development, but then again. For any hardcore Star Wars fan there's always the expanded universe.
Now as for episode 3, I didn't really enjoy it too much when I first went and saw it but I felt it was an ok movie as a whole, I was very young and at a very ignorant age when Episode 1 and 2 rolled around, 12 or so when episode 1 hit the big screen and I enjoyed it maybe a little too much because I wasn't really that set into the Star Wars universe yet.
I remember having seen parts of Episode 6 when I was very little and I generally remembered a lot from Episode 4 but I don't think I had seen Episode 5 at all, so what I did was to reassemble some logic and a deeper view over the movies and by doing that, the original trilogy became the best for me by far cause a lot like you, I really love classic movies from the 70s and 80s due to their charm and impact you gain as a young viewer.
However, episode 3 has grown on me quite a bit since it's release and I enjoy it far more now. I especially like the whole bit of leaving the galaxy in an uncertain darkness with a story gap of 20 or so years till episode 4 takes place. Like you said, the way everything builds up for a repeating circle of democracy and dictatorship is an interesting tataulogy. Good review.

James, seriously.... your take on the Star Wars movies, the ways you describe them and especially mentions the influences and your personal view upon 'em is nothing short of completely amazing. This is one of your absoloute best reviews and I'll come back many times to rewatch them, fantastic job!
3 years, 6 months ago on Star Wars movie review - Part 1
This is probably the one movie I completely disagree with you on, I hated almost every single thing about this movie. Terminator 1 and 2 had a very deep impact on me as a kid and Terminator 3, like you. I feel has been misjudged a bit too much. But this one, after seeing it I felt completely raped of those childhood memories having seen the first two. I think Bale is useless portraying Connor, the enviroments felt nothing like the flashbacks of Terminator 1 and 2. And like many people do say, I really have to agree on this one. It's not Terminator without Arnold.
Well the movie has been out for a while and I feel that I should be able to mention it. The naked Arnold jumping out of the freezebox CGI face just made it worse, because to me that just insulted creative storytelling and plot parts. It felt like a desperate attempt to put Arnold in this movie but ridicules the movie goers who just wish in vain he had really been in it.
I respect your opinion because you argue in a mature sense and speak of the diffrent elements of films from a good standpoint but for me, this was one of the worst movies I have ever seen and that says a lot for me at least, and I truly do mean that I hated it. But as always, keep up the good work because I keep coming here to listen to your profound thoughts!

Tomorrow then :)
Obviously my very nick indicates that I'm a big fan of this game series, I just think it's tragic that they never ported a version of Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake to the SNES, the game series would have gotten way more attention back then if they had because that game in specific, is way before it's time. But sure enough, that could have altered the series all together and MGS 1, 2 and so forth may not had been the same today. Anyway, keep up the good work.
