Interesting selection, but yeah, there are a lot of great methods for discovering great music/art outside of the 'mainstream' of the major players. In fact, I'd wager to bet that the outside lines have more fascinating and compelling tunes than one would ever find on the Spotify's of the world.

Wow, this is a very compelling, if frightening device. I love the depth you went into it here, Hamish - a fine piece of writing.

Not to be overly philosophical about it - but if we all record every moment of our lives, will we forget to live in the present? I already take more photos on my iPhone than I can possibly thoughtfully reconsider. Are we recording everything in hopes to catch those small, fleeting moments of intense change with the hopes of analyzing those moments to death? It'll be interesting to see whether or not we, as humans, decide that this is a valuable thing to do. For me, I'm going to press on with living in the present moment as much as possible. Show me tech that can help me stay there, and I'll show you a happy man.

Thank you... for the headline alone, but for the broader points here. So unclear why platforms push us to follow celebs - what could possibly be the point?

This seems to be a popular line of reasoning these days, and I wouldn't disagree. Though I don't hold my breath for Apple to let the opportunity to leverage the huge buying community they have slip away without a fight.  Probably running out of time, though, eh?
