I've never been a great fan of Klout as a influence monitoring tool (as I've written about before: http://www.andrewisidoro.co.uk/blog/social-media-influence-and-klout-you-are-not-a-number/), really more of measure of social media activity rather than influence.
Far too many unknowns and much to easily gamed for my liking; and that's coming from an SEO Strategist. Like the idea of this little experiment though.

Very good Gini. About time someone wrote a post like this. The number one reason I find that it works for me but not other businesses is bravery. I am brave enough to not be risk-averse (sensibly of course) which is where you reap the most benefits.

I totally agree. AuthorRank isn't here yet but we are seeing a few changes to how Google are approaching data collection to make this notion of entity based ranking a possibility (I recently wrote about it on Econsultancy: http://econsultancy.com/uk/blog/62393-ultimate-guide-to-google-sign-in-more-than-authentication)
Some exciting times ahead but I do agree. It's not quite here yet...

Very nice Allen. It's always a great idea to review your social accounts. I'd also recommend for those with website access/control to have a content clear out too. A good content audit can help you cut away the dead wood and re-purpose it to better fit what clients and visitors are looking for.

Very nice Gini. This is something I've done as part of blogger relations but never thought of taking it further to journos. I always imagined they'd be to busy to listen to little old me, but it does make sense. I always read the comments on my blog (though they are few and far between nowadays).
Be interesting to see how well this would work over a long period/few publications.
