What a strange move -- FS1 must really be desperate. Who (outside of New Yorkers) is going to care about listening to a New York homer do a bad radio show?

Agreed with every one ... except Ian Eagle. He is extremely annoying IMO.

OTL and 30-for-30 ... far and away the two-best things that ESPN produces.

"Going off topic" should only be penalized if the "off topic" discussion is boring. Many times during a sports broadcast, a brief "off-topic" discussion between the announcers can be quite interesting and entertaining.
2 months, 3 weeks ago on Who are statistically the worst NFL announcers?
If you're going to rank this one just outside the top 10 ... you have to put it at No. 13, Ben. (JMO.)
Great review, per
usual. Detailed, but you don't give too many spoilers. As for Hai Waknine,
I imagine getting him to talk much about anything is a chore. Gangsters usually
don't like discussing their trade. ;-)
I look forward to
watching the film.

Sideline reporters can't win. Ask a softball: "She's a floozy; why is she allowed on a football field?" Ask a tough question: "Who does this broad think she is asking a hardball question like that? Even though it's a question that EVERY COLLEGE FOOTBALL FAN has been wondering themselves. The nerve of this girl."

@Andy Finkelstein The idea that he was "starting to slip" is faulty, IMO. There is a reason so many disliked him. He's been awful for years IMO. And his terrible speaking voice doesn't help the situation. (Kind of important when you're an "announcer.")

There will be a lot less saliva on the CBS microphones.
How do you know they were all Browns fans? Obviously some of them were, but are you sure some of the comments weren't made by Bengals fans? Also: Love the final line of the story. Browns fans should be thanking WTOL that they missed the Bengals scoring 31 points in the second quarter. Haha.

Haha. If that show doesn't use Harlan in its promos they are missing the boat. It has to happen.

Wow, more proof that Tiger Woods is an extreme asshat. Shocking.

This is even better than "Hey Stu, can you say I had it first on Twitter?" and I thought nothing could ever top that.

These should be two separate arguments. The most-racist nickname? Definitely Redskins. Most-racist mascot? Chief Wahoo.

The media is accused (and rightfully so) of burying its collective heads in the sand during the "Steroid Era" when it was obvious guys like McGwire, Sosa, Bonds, et al were using, but no one wanted to rock the boat. But when someone calls a spade a spade -- says it's obvious Pujols is/was on roids -- he gets ridiculed and then sued. I have no doubt Clark will "win" the lawsuit because Pujols' lawyers won't be able to prove malicious intent. Especially since it's a common opinion in the baseball world that Pujols was an obvious user. But just the fact that Jack Clark is being painted as some evil guy here is funny to me. I can't think of a more-obvious PED user than Albert Pujols. Unfortunately for the Angels, it looks like he stopped using after getting that monster contract. No question he was using in St. Louis though.

If "unfazed" now means "completely frazzled" I totally agree.

The "Eric The Clown" line was pretty good though from Florio. All Seinfeld fans can appreciate that one. But Florio getting owned by a team mascot? That's a win for humanity.

I seriously had to listen to that 10 times to finally understand what Chuck Wagon was saying at the very end. "They'd need DNA to find out who did it after I got done with him." Classic.

IMO, they were letting him down easy. It's much-more comfortable to fire someone and say "Hey, the ratings are low, we have to make a change" instead of "You really suck and we need to find someone to replace you who can avoid sucking."
This makes it seem like it might have been more "bad luck" rather than someone being incompetent. Just my take. It's not like FoxSports came out and said that was the reason they were letting him go. It's what he said was told to him when he was let go.
Also, isn't "hockey" and "low ratings" synonymous? I'm confused.
