Yuck....at the game and just....bleh. The more I watch this team the more I'm convinced that we would have an elite defense with the addition of a rebounder. Again and again a good defensive stop was spoiled by an easy offensive board for the Wiz. Be interesting to see how Presti takes it.
You know how the Spurs have that super annoying thing where they constantly reload on great shooters, defenders, and key role players and win lots of championships and contend when they should be well outside their window?
Let's do that, but with athletic freaks like Jones instead of shooters.
Bleacher Report are idiots and all, but they are damn good at what they do. Knowing full well what I was walking into they still managed to make me mad with that article. Dirty bastards.
It'll be intriguing to see Maynor back. Hopefully Jackson can get his stuff together and we'll see some competition for the backup point guard role. It's not like Reggie can play much worse than he did last year.
Really glad he didn't land with the Spurs.
Very happy with the Thompson move. I've watched Georgetown closely for a few years and dude can shoot. Should slide nicely into Cook's role when Cook's contract is up.
Hypothetical: say Thabeet outplays Aldrich, takes the backup center role, or at the very least the two trade minutes backing up Perk and appear roughly equal. With Aldrich's 2013-2014 season earning him $3.2 million on a team option, what are the odds that gets picked up? I'd say fairly low.
Really happy with this signing. I'm a Georgetown fan and I was hoping to see either us or the Wizards sign him. Never thought it would happen though.
@FREE_COLE Frank Ocean + Andre 3000
@Grolgar Exactly. I'd be fine with his performance if he was holding his own in the paint, opening things up and playing solid D, but he honestly looked like he didn't belong on an NBA court today. He's better than that (I think) but I really hope this doesn't develop into a pattern.
Didn't watch the whole game, but how the hell was Morris Almond +11? How was he defensively? Cause the boxscore says he wasn't doing much offensively.
@Lost Ones I'm all for optimism, but Cole Aldrich was a straight up F in this one. Finished out 0-4, -16, 3 TO. What's more is he looked beyond lost offensively and got beat defensively more than once. I still think he can be a reliable backup center, but this game doesn't show any of that. Disappointing, frankly.
Happy to see some talent moving East. Did not want to see Dallas reload, and I've had enough of D-Will at Utah.
That Perkins contract will need to be amnestied if we're to have the flexibility we need. Also, I understand that the amnesty clause can only be used in a certain window each year, but does it have a final expiration date?
@JimboSlice @Lost Ones Yup. Chicago picked up the option for the approaching season.
My favorite part about this whole thing is that we get to roll the dice on a guy with huge upside, and if it doesn't work out we'll probably still be back in the Finals.
@Old Man Game Had it muted when he was picked, but if he was upset I'd put it on sliding. Kid was supposed to go top 5 last year, and in the lottery this year. All in all I think he'll be happy to be on a perennial contender shortly.
@Old Man Game Holy F**K that'll make dunking on people easy.
Also: nobody is touching me on 2k now. Russ, Harden, Jones, Durant, Ibaka. Insane.
So...we got a top 5 talent...who fills EXACTLY what we needed in our small ball lineup...runs like a guard, 39" vert and all that....AND James Harden is still on the roster.
Sometimes it's just nice to be a Thunder fan.
