Where do you find these comscore rankings. I'd be interested in finding out the complete top 10.

@jpk0721 @stuie299 I know. Its just unless its "your team" it doesn't make any sense to want to watch a bad Cowboys or Giants team, or a bad Lakers or Knicks team. If my teams not playing I just want to watch the most competitive game possible and it doesn't make sense that other people don't feel the same way.

@jpk0721 @panderson1988 I guess the real problem (and not just with NFL but sports in general) is why some fans are willing to watch bad games just because certain teams are playing instead of better closer matchups with other teams. It just sucks for us sports fans who want to watch good games regardless of who is playing.

@Livineasy I know what ya mean. Pereira is good for rules clarifications during games but otherwise he's useless.

@ShawnDiIorio @MattScheerer Your sarcasm is misguided. If Gus Johnson is going to be Fox's lead soccer announcer he needs practice broadcasting more games. Fox doesn't get MLS games until next year, so the only way Gus Johnson can broadcast more games is if he goes to Europe.

Definitely wish Fox would have responded to your inquiries. I still have a lot of questions surrounding Tim Brando's involvement.

@gunnerfrog How do these games factor into the regular 82 game season? Questions about the number of games each team plays and player fatigue would surely have to be answered as well.

The fact is Olberman is still a very polarizing figure from the work he did on MSNBC/Current TV. Remember how much he flopped on Football Night in America.

@Buffalo_Brave Did you read the article? It said CBS will produce all 16 games despite only broadcasting the first 8. This means Nessler and Mayock will not be used in favor of Nantz and Simms.

@victorjacobo_ But then its too similar to FIBA which already exists. The point (as far as I know) is to be more like the FA Cup.

The good thing about it only being a one year contract is that it will be just enough games to open the average fans eyes as to how bad TNF is and then we can try to get rid of it the following year.

@GameFederer "And the thought of all the sports programming playing the NFL on Fox theme makes me cringe."That has to be the single most annoying thing about Fox Sports.

The MLS doesn't have the money to sign quality players. It needs to grow its brand to get more money to sign better players.

The only time a sideline reporter is needed is when there is a blackout or something major like that happening at the stadium. Otherwise they're completely nonessential to the broadcast.

@Phive TNT yes, but I don't know about ESPN. I just as soon let NBC or Fox try its hand at it. Anything would be better than sitting through Kia NBA Shootaround. ESPN hasn't had a good pregame or halftime show since they originally acquired broadcast rights.

@chrisbuda @juredy @gord94 @GA Russell Your statistic is irrelevant as they were only talking about the ratings for Canada.

This is interesting! I'll be watching to see how this develops. Hopefully the NFL comes around.

ESPN really only has 3 good NBA analysts. Doug Collins, Hubie Brown, and Stan Van Gundy. I think they need to look for some new analysts.
1 month, 2 weeks ago on Conversation @ http://awfulannouncing.com/2014/sage-steele-shakes-her-head-at-bill-simmons-pouting.html
@mastere102 @CarlosDiazIII I agree Beadle would be a much better fit. She filled in for Steele a couple of weeks ago and everything went a lot better. Though I gotta say what's up with Jalen Rose? Sure he doesn't disrupt things like Simmons does, but unlike simmons his presence on set adds little to no value.
Good for them! They're probably the best NFL broadcasting team since Brennaman/Billick and Nessler/Mayock are no longer calling games.

*Jim NantzFixed that typo for you.
On one hand they didn't pick a Pharrell song. On the other hand they might have picked the one song as overplayed (or more so) than Pharrell.

I was hoping he would replace Jalen Rose on NBA Countdown, but I'll settle for him as a college basketball analyst. I hope they do in fact use him for College GameDay. A lineup of Jay Williams, Seth Greenberg, Shane Battier would be great. It would also allow Jay Bilas to call more games.

@Paisanos That's not entirely fair considering SportsCenter does the exact same thing. Granted FSL definitely milked it longer, but it was still FSL.

@DaleMoog @stuie299 @MattGalvin Thanks for clearing that up. Honestly had no idea he did all that. Besides, I wasn't saying he was too big for radio, just that it would make sense if ESPN didn't use him that much for radio.
2 months, 1 week ago on Conversation @ http://awfulannouncing.com/2014/your-nba-conference-finals-announcing-schedule-2.html
@MattGalvin I would think its because its ESPN Radio. Has Mike Tirico done much work for them. He seems to be more of a higher profile announcer.
So both Mike Mayock and Brian Billick are out of a job. That really sucks. Probably the two best NFL game analysts.

I can't really complain about any of the nominees...except for Mike Breen. I'd really like an explanation as to why he was included over Marv Albert or Kevin Harlan.

Mike Fratello or Chris Webber gets the job if Kerr leaves. I'm hoping its Fratello, but it will probably be Webber.
3 months ago on Conversation @ http://awfulannouncing.com/2014/steve-kerr-getting-closer-to-leaving-tnt-for-new-york-knicks.html
Its about time...oh wait it just means different shitty programing. I was really hoping Fox would take this opportunity and learn from it. Hopefully we'll get something better in the future.
@JoelHoover Yeah, huge loss if Kerr actually leaves. By far the NBA's best analyst. The only other analyst that even comes close is Hubie Brown.
3 months ago on Conversation @ http://awfulannouncing.com/2014/who-should-replace-steve-kerr-at-tnt.html
Mike Fratello would be my first choice. Second Choice would be to move Reggie Miller up the ladder and give the second spot to a new analyst. Wouldn't want to give either spot to Barkley. That just seems like a horrible idea. Hill (at least IMO) strikes me as being too bland. Chris Webber would be a decent and logical choice, but he always seemed more comfortable as a studio analyst. Hated when they broke up him and GP on NBATV. Now this is a bit of a leap like you said, but I absolutely love the idea of TNT hiring Steve Nash. Maybe not as lead analyst, but I could definitely see him getting the number 2 spot if Miller moves up. That said I could also see Nash choosing to go the coaching route.
@CUbsfan @stuie299 Yeah, just seems kinda obvious. Especially considering TNT makes several game updates alerting you to that fact.

If you look a Johnson's resume he honed his craft calling basketball games. That's where he flourishes. He's a good enough announcer that he can cover football, but he's out of his element when he calls soccer. At some point Fox needs to stop forcing this. Surely they have someone better. He may not be as well known as Johnson, but people are more than willing to get behind good announcers.
3 months ago on Conversation @ http://awfulannouncing.com/2014/american-soccer-fans-arent-getting-any-closer-to-accepting-gus-johnson.html
@ShawnDiIorio @panderson1988 Sadly that's how it works. People rather watch the knicks get blown out then a competitive Raptors/Wizards game. Same thing is true for football. Certain teams carry more weight and people will watch those teams regardless.

@CUbsfan What's the point in bringing that up? Its clear that it was just overflow from the Memphis/OKC game going into overtime. Its no different than ESPN moving the first part of games over to ESPNews.
3 months, 1 week ago on Conversation @ http://awfulannouncing.com/2014/your-nba-playoffs-announcing-schedule-for-419-424.html
@MarioCardone I think you're being too reactionary by basing everything on Woodson and Jackson. Woodson being a "rogue" coach (whatever that means) and Jackson using the triangle when he coached. Like every vacant position (NBA or otherwise) you're gonna interview a bunch of candidates and pick the best one, or at least that's how it should be done. What you're ultimately looking for is someone whose style fits the current roster, or the willingness of the GM to go after players that fit the coaches style. Jackson is only the evaluator of talent and Woodson really has no bearing whatsoever on who they hire. IMO I think they just need to hire the best person available regardless of them running the triangle or not.

As a Suns fan I still vividly remember that horrible Marion for Shaq trade that Kerr executed. Sure give the guy a second chance (after all he's the best NBA color commentator working today), but how he's the perceived first choice is beyond me.Also Kerr has been working with Turner from 2003 -2007 and then from 2010 - present. In the article you make no reference to Kerr's time as an analyst before his tenure with the Suns.
