This totally sucks! Feinstein was by far my favorite sports radio host. Him and Andrew Bogusch have great chemistry. If only they would have fired Jim Rome instead.

@Phive He occasionally does games on saturdays for ESPN. It be nice if he could do that on a regular basis.

Well this is underwhelming. I would like them to use Bob Valvano as a analyst full time. He'd make a great addition to their regular lineup.
Sorry but the Comedy Central show is called @midnight.

Memphis Grizzlies at Oklahoma City Thunder had Mike Tirico and Hubie Brown written all over it. I'm sorely disappointed that we get crap instead.
3 weeks, 1 day ago on Conversation @ http://awfulannouncing.com/2014/nba-announcing-schedule-114-119.html
Well this is disappointing. I'm Looking specifically at who TNT replaces Steve Kerr with and the Hill/Anthony combo might have potential. The Barkley/Miller combo doesn't make sense at all. I much prefer Barkley as a studio analyst, and pairing him with Miller seems more like a mismatch. Then ESPN out of nowhere has Ruocco and Barry calling a game. Jon Barry is bad enough, but pairing him with a bad play by play announcer makes it practically insufferable. Also wish NBATV would invest in some decent announcers/analysts to call games. I mean its one thing for League Pass to simulcast the local broadcast but its so annoying to have to hear homers call nationally televised games.
1 month ago on Conversation @ http://awfulannouncing.com/2014/nba-opening-week-announcing-schedule.html
@JE_Reh Agreed. Currently Doug Collins is ESPN's only good NBA studio analyst. They need to find some new analysts and fast.

@eslrush Lundquist and Raftery calling the NCAA championship game would be awesome.

ESPN's NBA coverage needs to take a page out of their CBB coverage. If only TNT could broadcast the NBA Finals and ESPN could broadcast March Madness.

Now that Rachel Nichols' CNN show is canceled I'd love to see her on Real Sports. Time Warner does own both Turner Sports and HBO Sports, so it could work out.
1 month, 1 week ago on Conversation @ http://awfulannouncing.com/
I don't watch CNN and I certainly don't look to CNN for my sports coverage. I think I had maybe heard about this show once, but I never remembered to watch it. I think CNN did a bad job promoting the show TBH.

Still disappointed Amy Lawrence is not involved with this. She's really capable and deserving of a bigger role.
1 month, 2 weeks ago on Conversation @ http://awfulannouncing.com/2014/need-talk-gimmick-good-show.html
Pretty much this. Instead of jumping into things head first this (if they're smart enough) will give them time to develop the network, so when they do start bidding they'll have everything in place to have great coverage.
1 month, 2 weeks ago on Conversation @ http://awfulannouncing.com/2014/will-fox-sports-1-outside-looking-next-decade.html
Well this is the worst thing possible. ESPN has had terrible coverage ever since they acquired the rights from NBC (other than Breen/JVG and Tirico/Brown). Its a shame Marv Albert, the voice of the NBA, will likely never call the NBA finals again. I wish ESPN would put as much effort into their NBA analysts as they do NFL or CBB. Doug Collins is really their only good NBA studio analyst.
1 month, 3 weeks ago on Conversation @ http://awfulannouncing.com/2014/details-new-nba-tv-contracts-espn-turner.html
This is an incredibly petty move by the NFL. They stepped in it pretty badly and are surprised when a Network called them on it.

Its about damn time. It was painfully obvious last year that they were the only one who could hang with Jay Bilas.
Don't you mean Zoran Dragic, and not Bogdan Bogdanovic?

I think you need to fix your list. It currently reads as such.
11. Chicago - 30.9
t12. Minnesota (Minneapolis-St. Paul market) - 30.9
112. San Diego - 30.7

I wish baseball wasn't so boring, because with all of the tradition surrounding the game, it seems like something I could have really gotten into.

What I really find interesting is despite the game being broadcast on CBS, NFL Network still garnered a 1.7 rating. That's only .6 down from ESPN's CFB game. As a sports fan it saddens me that they can still dominate the ratings even with a no chance in hell blowout. There can't possibly be that many Falcons fans.

I hope FS1 replaces him with something worth watching.

@panderson1988 As far as basketball goes I'd disagree. I'd much rather listen to Marv Albert, Kevin Harlan, or Mike Breen than any of the local teams. The only exception would be if Jon Barry was the analyst. He's the worst.

@whatupay4sports I totally agree. That is why I always felt it was just as important for them to improve their original programing and journalism. I like what ESPN is currently doing with shows like Sports Reporters, PTI, Around the Horn, and Highly Questionable. I think FS1 should bring on a couple of established sports writers who are more comfortable, and frankly better than the current panel (I actually like Andy Roddick, but that's beside the point) at talking about multiple sports.

I'd be outraged, but lets be realistic. When has there ever been a good Super Bowl halftime show?
3 months, 1 week ago on Conversation @ http://awfulannouncing.com/2014/nfl-wants-super-bowl-halftime-performers-to-pay-them.html
What was wrong with last years? I don't see the constant need to reinvent the wheel. This years is too big and in your face. Last years was just the right size.

@gregbeaulieu You bring up some good points, but honestly, Speed was an absolutely worthless channel. Just terrible in my book. BTW I agree with you about Jay & Dan. I happen to love them though.

I don't get why you like number 1 so much. You guys seem to be in love with Katie Nolan and I just don't get it. Also CGW was no where near as good as you made it out to be (there was good reason for it to be canceled).
3 months, 2 weeks ago on Conversation @ http://awfulannouncing.com/2014/the-10-most-fun-moments-of-fox-sports-1.html
Number 10 is what's wrong with sports. Big markets have way too much power. Either fix the schedule or give ESPN/TNT the ability to flex games or flex more games if they already can.
3 months, 2 weeks ago on Conversation @ http://awfulannouncing.com/2014/10-takeaways-from-the-2014-15-nba-tv-schedule.html
@Phive On one condition. Jason Bateman must call all Dodgeball matches.
3 months, 2 weeks ago on Conversation @ http://awfulannouncing.com/2014/bill-simmons-leaving-nba-countdown-for-new-grantland-basketball-show.html
Hmm, maybe Ray Allen is retiring after all.
@MattGalvin If those are the possible options then I don't see the show improving anytime soon. I mean they were already desperate when they put Simmons on the show. I see them hiring a new analyst to replace Simmons. Besides Battier made it clear that he joined as a CBB analyst and he'd be the only candidate on that list I'd actually want to give the spot to.
@Phive The NBA may not leave ESPN, but I wouldn't be surprised if they offered FS1/Fox a new package of say Monday, Saturday, or some mix of the two. I could also see one of ESPN/ABC's 3 days going to either TNT or FS1/Fox.
3 months, 2 weeks ago on Conversation @ http://awfulannouncing.com/2014/fox-sports-1-lost-the-expectations-game.html
@jbrinks @stuie299 I could also see them going with Doris Burke (I wouldn't mind that), but it would probably require her to stop calling CBB games and I actually really enjoy her in that dual role.
3 months, 2 weeks ago on Conversation @ http://awfulannouncing.com/2014/two-espn-personalities-are-potential-candidates-to-join-the-view.html
I don't watch Numbers Never Lie so I don't really care if Hill leaves. Now I actually hope Steele leaves. That would mean a replacement for her on NBA Countdown. Hopefully they'd choose Michelle Beadle to replace her. If they're gonna force Bill Simmons on us Beadle did a great job of interacting with him, and not letting him get too annoying when she would fill in. Steele just doesn't have any chemistry with the current NBA Countdown analysts.
I'd use Amy Lawrence. She does a great job when filling in for Doug Gottlieb. Otherwise her talents are just being wasted on weekend overnight slots.

@jpk0721 @tonyc @JimWilliamsOnTheAir No one is saying he's gonna replace Doc immediately. He did say Eventually after all. I think that makes a lot of sense, especially as NBC acquires more content.

Where do you find these comscore rankings. I'd be interested in finding out the complete top 10.
4 months ago on Conversation @ http://awfulannouncing.com/2014/fox-sports-and-sporting-news-forge-online-partnership.html
@jpk0721 @stuie299 I know. Its just unless its "your team" it doesn't make any sense to want to watch a bad Cowboys or Giants team, or a bad Lakers or Knicks team. If my teams not playing I just want to watch the most competitive game possible and it doesn't make sense that other people don't feel the same way.
4 months ago on Conversation @ http://awfulannouncing.com/2014/what-we-know-about-sunday-night-football-in-2014.html
@jpk0721 @panderson1988 I guess the real problem (and not just with NFL but sports in general) is why some fans are willing to watch bad games just because certain teams are playing instead of better closer matchups with other teams. It just sucks for us sports fans who want to watch good games regardless of who is playing.
@Livineasy I know what ya mean. Pereira is good for rules clarifications during games but otherwise he's useless.
4 months ago on Conversation @ http://awfulannouncing.com/2014/fox-announces-revamped-college-football-studio-broadcast-teams.html
@ShawnDiIorio @MattScheerer Your sarcasm is misguided. If Gus Johnson is going to be Fox's lead soccer announcer he needs practice broadcasting more games. Fox doesn't get MLS games until next year, so the only way Gus Johnson can broadcast more games is if he goes to Europe.
4 months, 1 week ago on Conversation @ http://awfulannouncing.com/2014/fox-announces-revamped-college-football-studio-broadcast-teams.html
Definitely wish Fox would have responded to your inquiries. I still have a lot of questions surrounding Tim Brando's involvement.
@gunnerfrog How do these games factor into the regular 82 game season? Questions about the number of games each team plays and player fatigue would surely have to be answered as well.
