Hashtags for certain purposes should be destroyed... such as for trying to gain followers. Hashtags used to spread a meme or current event should stay untouched!

I definitely wasn't even an idea my parents had in 1971, but I definitely remember my first Amtrak ride, along the east coast with my mom. Since then, Amtrak has been my favorite way to travel!

Interesting perspective. I never would have guessed Brazil to be the next big movement in social, but it makes sense! And yeah, the fact that the World Cup and Olympics are about to be there certainly is helping there cause. It will be interesting to see the effects those two events have on not only social within Brazil, but their place in social on an international level.

Wow, the hardest decision I've made yet today. HootSuite, you guys did a good job. But I'm going to have to give it up for the zendesk team.
If for nothing else, they solved the zombie apocalypse. Awesome work errbody.

Yup, there you go. It would be nice to be able to find people to follow easier on HootSuite as well. I feel like finding people across my accounts is super tough and is easier done by logging in and out of my accounts on Twitter.com.

Awesome! Definitely a fan of more outlets. When I was traveling Amtrak and trying to get work done on the train, I was sometimes really bummed to find there were no open places to plugin. This is a great feature that riders will love.
Plus, Amtrak is just flippin' awesome!

Space is such a cool ass thing, no wonder he blew up with a little focused effort! Plus it helps his content is some of the most interesting/pioneering stuff online.
I wonder how many of his current followers were actually space-ambivalent before following and are now highly interested just because of his social efforts...

Haha Chris Hadfield is the man! I loved his experiments in space, particularly the one where he wrings out a wet towel in zero gravity. Too gnarly. Dude was just floating around in space and sharing it all with us peasants back on earth. That's mind blowing, really.
Nice feature Hoots!

The worst customer service experience I've had recently was with an east coast clothing boutique that ignored my queries about a shirt I ordered and never received. They even followed me back on Twitter, generally a sign they're about to start DMing you. Nope!
Though the experience was really... REALLY bad, I don't think I'd be willing to pay $1000 to make it better. If it were a different circumstance though and a different product, I might consider spending cash on a promoted tweet. Just depends on what we're talking about!

Very cool project. Love the Humans of NY blog and Amtrak is a perfect partner for Brandon. So many awesome people and stories to capture along the rails! I'm jealous I can't be a part of it as well.

That second point is kind of interesting because I don't think your example of posting selfies or family photos is necessarily universal. Though, I definitely get what you're saying... give something people can relate to. I'm planning the launch of an app here and that's one thing I've been saying we need to do with our upcoming IG account: showoff the company culture and let people know we're real!

Deff have found that including handles of people involved in the content I'm sharing is a great way to increase exposure. Most of the time, if you put a little thought into the copy and tag them appropriately, they'll be glad to RT and get your profile out to some new timelines. The tricky part is making the copy intriguing enough for them to dig it and I think directly quoting them is great.
3 solid tips my friends!

That's pretty much it. Though, some brands I think can afford to talk about sex, or at least comment on it. If a brand's image is relatively risque, then providing brief (hopefully humorous) input could be a good move. For example, GoDaddy gets away with it in their branding and also an obvious one like Trojan.

Solid tips. When trying to do a guest blog campaign for a company that has several brands, do you think that the relationships should be built via each specific brand social media/outlet or through the singular account of the individual who is trying to create the network?
