I think you're taking his statement a bit too literally. What he's saying is closer to what you said - there aren't any traditional low-post-based centers. The game has changed - blame Kevin Garnett, for one - but his point is still valid. As far as traditional, All-Star (and just below) caliber centers, today's game is severely lacking.
At one point in your post you listed "Shaq, Yao Ming, Rasheed Wallace, Greg Oden, Brad Miller, Amar’e Stoudemire, Marcus Camby and Tim Duncan". Wallace, Stoudemire, Camby, and (arguably) Duncan are all power forwards. It matters not that they line up at center in the box score. Their games are not those of a traditional center. I don't see how Oden would count as a quality center, either.
