yes, that ride was probably the best ride i've ever been on (even "94") because it seemed like family and although some have moved away i can't wait to get to the ticket counter and buy my ticket for the next hopefully exciting ride. in today's world of sports i don't think you often see what the team accomplished last year, except with maybe the callahan situation but look who they brought in, a long lost ( it seemed) uncle and look how he fit with team. i think he made them much stronger. let's hope greed doesn't break up the rest of the family and if it doesn't i think that will make them stronger. let's remember that a team and a family consist of all, not individuals. doesn't AJ Castiglia make you want to buy that ticket right now, get on the bus and go for (THE RIDE). another great video to get one in the mood. just think, they just need that bus to get to the NEXT STATION !!!!!!! " The Way They Were", pretty much says it all, that and "The Big Chill" maybe the best two movies ever. one more thing, the only team ever, that i think surpasses last years was team USA, 1980 @ Lake Placid.

vsurfn: if you can get ryan johansen on our roster AND for 2.5 mil per, you'ld be considered a miracle worker !!!!

this is where the rangers HAVE to develop from. there is some talent there !!!!
this whole thing with tampa really doesn't hurt us at all. we certainly didn't want to pay any of these guys what they wanted, especially callahan, so "GOOD RIDDANCE" TO ALL TO HOPEFULLY "never" to be seen in a ranger uniform again !!! we need to use our system, see what we have and go on from there. if a decent trade pops up then address it. you just can't get worried over this, there will be answers.
feelings on some of the comments: dan boyle, my fear with him is wasting 4.5 mil on possible injury, hopefully not. AV can control his minutes per game !!! penner, D'Augstini, setiguchi, et al, at this point we don't want any more dead wood, let's use our own resources. tanner glass, AV himself likes him and i believe he also said he's improved, so after last years success we sort of have to lean on his judgement some what, a little overpaid though. brian boyle, i really don't know what his thinking is, he definately isn't going to be what he wants to be, not with what they have in tampa. i think he really blew his chance. another thought is that since del zotto is a good buddy w/ stamkos, maybe he and boyle reunite down there . strallman, on the other hand made out like a bandit, his agent raped tampa !!! and he was also replaceable. brad richards: we will miss him short term but in the long run the $$$ can be used elsewhere. (by the way skjei looks like a freakin tank.) now pouliot made himself the contract of the century, how can anyone blame him for signing that one ? just like everbody else, if the rangers pick up anyone else, let them have size and speed !!!! let's hope AV isn't a one year coach.

by the way, i think one of the best signings of the day was leo komorov by toronto. would loved to have seen him come to the rangers. a little much for him but loved his style.
wasn't there always a complete level problem with vrbata?
i fully agree, no big splash but there's also no water in the pool so you stay in your pool chair. i love giving the kids a chance, i know they want j. t. miller to mature but i think he really wants to play and with lindburg, fast and the other kids, let's see what we have. this bodie and haggerty situation intrigue me. we may have more than we all know. really can't wait for traverse tourny and please tell me that they are going to televise it on MSG, and then camp. without big names being brought in you might see some more competition for spots.
i think i'd like to see the same guys back, keep the team a team and try linburgh and j. t. miller for the other center spot. give them some quality ice time and they might surprise us.

callahan is still a very good player but at his age 4.5 mil per is almost too much. just don't see where he's worth 5.8 mil, would have liked to see him re-sign w/rangers for 4.5 mil, no more.
great video !!!! like i said my favorite ranger team in over the 50 plus years that i've watched them.....because they were a "TEAM" !!!!!!
1 month ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/2014-articles/one-hell-of-a-ride-2013-14-new-york-rangers.html
great article on carcillo.he proved he can be a team player and do what is needed, the only thing against him is that the league has a bulls eye on him, proven by the suspension. he seems to be well liked, can he prove his worth ?
i've always been a richards fan and he made a good contract for himself but by contract he needed to be bought out for the good of the rangers. also look at all the $$$$ he'll still be making plus a new contract. how about the rangers pick him up as a coach? any new contract he might get shouldn't be over 3mil, i don't think he's got more than that left in the tank. good luck where ever he goes !!!!!

great video !!!!! al castiglia
great synopsis for 2013-2014 season, says it all !!!! Kevin you and your buddies did a great job again !!! thanks. so glad you came back to your blog. of 50 plus years, this may have been my all time favorite new york ranger season.
sather will continue to sign the big contracts because dolan will continue to let him.
well with all that's been said, the statement that sticks out is that: it could very easily been 4-1 the other way, meaning the ranger's favor. 3 breaks in the 3 ot games could have done that. from a season where none of this was really expected can we really be that disapointed? sure but only for a bit. the L.A.. kings are a very, very GOOD team and apparently, at present have the best coach in the league so being second to them is no shame, only the disapointment of being that close. the questions now are, are the guys that played so well as a team this year going to take the money and run or are they going to try to stick together and try to finish what they started. i like the makeup of the team but in order to improve changes need to be made and i think we all know where the first one will be and that will be brad richards. for whatever reason he's just lost his edge. we also need to get a bit bigger with some speed, especially on "D" but where can you really find that ? unless you get lucky or sather pulls off another aquisition, basically they have a pretty good D. any way you look at it, the team chemistry will be changed and that, above all is what i think got them there, unlike in "94". so in two weeks or so is when the fun stuff starts happening all over again, we'll be back into it full force. at 67 an 53 years a ranger fan i still want another CUP or two. "GO RANGERS"

nyr82 has got a handle on it, way too much interference. i just couldn't believe what i saw last nite, knew something was off and that's it!!!!!!
i hear a lot of, we don't want to lose at home or we don't want to get swept. ALL i want to hear is that these guys want to still win the whole damn series. am i right ? it's not over YET !!!!!!
this is a "GOOD TEAM", who is playing a team that i thought only boston could beat but you know what, 2 overtime loses on away ice and some bad breaks,"THE NEW YORK RANGERS " are the better team !!!!!!! if it's meant to it's meant to be. this "team" is not done yet
1 month, 2 weeks ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/2014-articles/dont-give-up.html
you know that going back to back that the odds are slim. we've beaten some decent teams and though i think we're still better, there's a lot of competition out there especially with a healthy detroit. depending on who they decide to re-sign this summer or not probably has a lot to do with his future. if he tries to keep the same team i'd say stay but if there's a turn over it might be an idea to put an effort to train some one else, for who knows when the the next time this will happen. for all those good deals that were mentioned, there was some pretty bad ones. when you're winning you're loved, when losing you're hated......

just as a second thought, i know this years team is a completely different animal but you still have to give" torts" a lot of credit for this because he did instill and teach this team a lot. "AV" just took it to a whole different level. thank you both.

YEAH!!!!!!!!! now that's the way to play hockey. i know i've been tough on these guys at times this year but you just knew there was just "moore" to be had. this years playoffs you've seen a different ranger team than we've ever seen before, the playoffs have absolutely brought out their best and it's been a complete team venture from the black aces to their coach. hagelin , not much said about him but just awesome in the playoffs, stepan, i've never seen him as quick as he was last nite, nash, not the the prolific scorer so far but doing every thing else needed to be a winner, you can go up and down the whole team and gives positives. thanks guys for being a team !!!~!!!! i don't think in all my years i've seen anything like this anywhere.
our f**king nhl braintrust is a F**KING JOKE. they all need to be fired. the idiot causing the problem only gets two games and the idiot linesman holding carcillo causes him to get ten !!! if a**hole prust doesn't illegally hit stephan, NOTHING HAPPENS, and he did know what he was doing. you can bet somewhere down the road when he stops looking behind him he is GOING TO PAY !!!! someone better make him pay !!!!~~how f**king stupid can you get ???? that's just like banning guns because THEY walk out the door & shoot people. uphold the law & the rules you idiots.
2 months ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
ya know, what carcillo did was emotional and a mistake BUT not any worse than a lot of the instances that happen when the officials are trying to break up fights and get whacked in the head or somewhere else. they need to take into consideration what prompted it before they go crazy with any type of suspension. the official should have just let him go and what ever happens happen. call the f**king prust penalty and it doesn't even become an issue !!!!!! by the way upper chest or head, the f**king prust hit wasn't even close to being legal. also, isn't pierre maguire one of the biggest a**holes ever ??
sure we all want nash to produce like the superstar that we think he is but he's running in some bad luck so let's give him credit for not being a spoiled brat, sulking over it. from what i've seen he's doing all the other aspects of the game superbly to make up for not scoring a ton of goals. other teams still have to prepare for him because of what he is able to do, leaving room in the game for other teamates to pick up the slack. if the other teams start to ignore him, look for him to go on a roll. let's get behind him not on him.
2 months, 1 week ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
he's just trying to justify his idiocy at the end of the game. he's just trying to be a bigshot at home, all he did was draw notice of the officials for the following games, thanks stupid. by the way how can the officials justify all the hacks and wacks in front of the goal, i know you're going to get some but that's ridiculous.
also the better and "CLASSIER TEAM" won this series. very much JUSTIFIED by the hockey gods.
2 months, 2 weeks ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
with all of the players that played so well in the comeback i think one of the biggest moves was to put john moore back in the lineup, he just looked like he was on turbo skates.
Brukie: talent really doesn't mean crap when you can't earn enough repect to be on the ice with your peers and he nor anyone like him SHOULD be allowed on the ice. there seems to be a major epidemic of assholism out there AND it needs to be stopped. there are far too many jerks skating around out there being idiots being watched by our younger generations just wanting to act like our idiot heros, just like pro wrastling. IT NEEDS TO BE STOPPED !!!!!
AND cindy is not the best player in the league, if he was his name might just be pavel datsyk.
someday crosby is "REALLY GOING TO GET WHAT'S COMING TO HIM" and it will also feel like winning the stanley cup. his teamates when they see all this crap on tape have to be saying why are we really doin this. also i think the league has finally caught on to him and with his talent, he's become or always had been a bigger f**king a**hole than wayne simmonds. at least simmonds takes care of his own dirty work even being the slim ball he is. you'ld think the concussion would have taught him a lesson, if he ever had one. i agree with the MESS analogy but the two players aren't even close !!!! and what's the deal with blind side "kuntz", he afraid his boyfriend won't be kissably soft after the games? what a joke joke joke joke joke. the league, even with gary b. can't put up with this crap ~~
fans who rant on nash are.............., fill in your own blanks. if u think he's not trying you're all nuts !!!!!!
as i and everyone else has said and seen, how with 2 referees, how the f**k can you miss some of the blatant crap that has gone on in that series and others as well. the supervisor of officials and some of the referees should be castrated and sent to pasture never to ref again. it's right there on tape where all can see and it hasn't gotten any better. on a brighter note, i think it's safe to say that marc staal is finally back.------ let's hope that we have non- partial refs for the pitt series, cause they can be just as dirty as philly, just a bit smarter......eastern conference finals, here come the rangers !!!!!
2 months, 4 weeks ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
by the way, with the talent wayne simmonds has, i ask, is there any blithering a**hole in the league, other than matt cooke, bigger than him? he's the type MORON you'ld like to take a stick to and not stop. oops, sounds like a lot of the flyers.
what a bunch of stupid a**holes & cowards. a**holes on both sides but the gang up on you style that both the flyers fans & team have, just unbelievable. another thing is that the main draws to any game seem to be the beer and the stupidity that goes with it, beer should not be allowed in the arena area during the game cause it, in most cases, takes away from the people who really want to watch the game. do you want to go to drink or watch the game? if you want to go to drink then stay the f**k home, cause THAT IS just being another a**hole, you go to a game to watch NOT drink. i've found that going to a game it's more of a pain in the ass when you do drink, getting up, buying, bathrooming and wasting time that you could be watching the game. "PEOPLE ARE SUCH A**HOLES"
great post kevin !!! cause look at all the great responses you brought out. i love it..... that pic also proves not ALL flyer fans are a**holes.

what do you know i've finally found the capt of the finger squad !!!! he looks more like the capt of a jerk off squad.
GREAT statement by "Say my Name" about giroux's win game 4 comment. i think he probably meant the rangers cause the refs HAVE to clamp down on the flyer's bulls**t and he knows the flyers can't win.
3 months ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
you know, u just can't stop talking about how cheap the flyers play but how about them going after, (of all players) haglen), who already has a mouthful of sore. how about both of sather's aquisitions this year, carcillo ( who seems to really like it here ) and kline who you never hear anything about, with that being a good thing cause that means he's doing his job, gotta give it to sather for those two. how about those wonderfull refs, the call on carcillo, right out in plain sight, how could any body be that stupid, he shouldn't be allowed to ref again!!! what the hell was the ref saying to carcillo after his goal ?, don't score again, you're upseting the fans, ha ha ha and they might injure their dumb ass fingers. only if there weren't a glass there, i'd like to see how brave that one a**hole would be. NOW i read that giroux guaranteed a win in game 4, boy i sure hope that statement gets shoved right up his ass sideways, i'm gettin sick of his cheap shot crap too, it wouldn't really bother me if someone laid him out with a legal hit or he took a puck right between the eyes, reminding me of cindy cosby. you know that if the refs called the game the correct way the rangers would be on a 40 minute power play. lot of good things happening right now, "keep skating rangers"
the one guy on philly who scares me is akeson. he's all over in the offensive end. he's quick and always seems to be open.

nhl officiating is absolutely, horribly, inconsistant. duncan keith's bulls**t is completely uncalled for, it's a wonder someone didn't try to take HIS HEAD OFF. if i were on the ice i think i might have tried. WHAT AN IDIOT !! that game was horrible the whole game. tampa's second goal being disallowed last nite, the calls yesterday, in the ranger game, unbelievable. most of THESE so called officials need to be read the riot act. i know the intensity rises in the playoffs but if you officiate one way during the season you need to do the same for the playoffs. ex. haglens penalty sunday wouldn't even be a thing in the chi / st. louis series. these idiots just p*ss me off and take away from the game.
3 months, 1 week ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
mason in or out, the rangers better be smarter & TOUGHER in game 2. those a**holes from phila will be dirtier yet, especially after seeing what the blackhawks are getting away with today in st louis. the lack of refereeing is inexcusable. they should be canned !!!!
are those posters available anywhere? that's a pretty good motto to go through life with, especially the way kids are growing up nowadays, it would give them something to base their lives on.
the game last night was just what you knew this team has in them. "TALENT". in the last 50 yrs, i'm not sure i've ever seen a playoff game as dominated as that one. as discouraged as we have been during the season the way they have played at times, it seems, from that game anyway, that they're on a mission, let's hope there's no letdown. let's all give a thanks to coaches as well as the players for their recent resurgence and hope they continue to play that way. i'm really excited about what really could become a reality. game out of reach and the flyers still play like major a**holes let's hope that doesn't hurt us for a deep run in the playoffs. i was ONCE a deep torts believer but am completely backing 'AV', HE'S CONVINCED ME !!!!!
what makes you think that berube means what he says. i wouldn't trust any effin flyer as far as i could throw one !!!! right melissa ?
i do agree that the rangers handled that SLASH the right way but the inept ( at times ) higherarchy in this effing league need to pounce on these morons to eliminate these instances now !!! the league is horribly inconsistant on this crap.
4 months ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/2014-articles/simmonds-slash-on-mcdonagh.html
is there any reason the league can't look at an idotic slash like that ( with intent to injure ) and suspend ANY moron that purposely does that ? i would have liked the guy on my team too but now i'd just soon see him take a puck to the head and whatever happens, happens. JUST NOT ENOUGH RESPECT IN THIS LEAGUE !!!!! reminds me of dave brown !!! GUTLESS
by the way, going back nearly 50 years or so, i think that now my favorite ranger photo is that of mcdonagh's pose in front of the net after he scored the winner last nite. that could be a wall hanger for sure, like a 3' X 6'er. it says all there is to say about being a ranger and a fan.
