@macrojd @danielxthextiger @TheShervinator He is well known :D
@PatrickSayan "its just going to be like his reviews but longer with a bigger budget". Now this would be a huge problem. We are talking about a "movie" here not some youtube video. If he really turned the movie into a huge nerd episode (what I highly doubt), that would be a catastrophy.

@Mike/Cinemassacre If other video reviewers started using them, it might be because you inspired them. ;-) Since you mentioned movie posters, I see them as the "posters" for the reviews, so they should be there in my opinion. And last but not least you are a great artist, you have to show your work to the fans. We love it.

@ChanceTurcotte Irate gamer.... *cries* Better check out some HVGN stuff. He reviews a lot of great classics. Or maybe cornshaqgaming for some great Play it through videos. He beat some of the games the AVGN reviewed, cuz he got a lot of requests to play them. Both guys are really worth checking out.
I actually wanted to answer the conversation that meeeeeee started. But I wanted this to be a separate message. I’ve been following this whole discussion about the donations. There is one major problem in my opinion. People always think that James didn’t get anything from them watching his videos.
I don’t really agree with that. James always wanted to make movies and videos and he wanted them to be seen. So at the beginning it was the fans who gave him everything. We were watching his videos, we bothered to follow his work/career and we told our friends about James and his work. Of course it was James' talent and creativity that made so many people watch his work, but in the end it was always the fans that supported him. If people would have ignored him he couldn't make a living of his work. Even now, he can continue living like this because people still come here, to watch his videos.
With the big success he had over the years his hobby became his job. Thanks to the fans. Now with the movie we have a whole new situation. He is trying to take his career to a whole new level. The problem is/was that he can’t/couldn’t afford it. So he asked the fans for donations. So it’s the fans again who make it possible that his dream comes true.
James owes A LOT to his fans and their loyalty. Without them he wouldn’t be where he is today. So it's absolutely legitimate that people question or criticize the donations. And by that I mean in a respectful manner with legitimate points and not the random insult and hatred that (too) many people post.
@DBK@jemis Looking at all this makes me think that James should make a chat room on cinemassacre. XD

@jemis@DBK I don't know much about all this website stuff and how much it costs. But isn't a website with so much traffic like cinemassacre very expensive to run? Ads and stuff on cinemassacre is only to pay the website as far as I know.
@DBK@jemis When did jemis "attack" James?
@JackieMartling69@SadullahFronGoteborg It depends on your age and or health. Maybe Sadullah is a 90 years old chain smoker, who still has to work.... :-( Then he can easily retire with 120'000$
@jemis@DBK Didn't you just call someone a "slow bitcht? XD
@jemis@DBK Yes, but he didn't complain. ;-)
@DBK@supmandude Yeah, and probably has been hit "by" a bottle as well. XD
@Muggyjoe@Bigdaddyclean Same can be said about some people's optimism. Some fans have crazy expectations about this movie. XD
@KevinGragg You should have read the title. ;-)
@JohnDore The problem in my opinion is, that 90% of the people don't seem to be able to talk about the AVGN like sane/normal people. You either get those that act like he was some kind of Internet Jesus and then you get all the frustrated people who come here and insult everyone. I agree with what you said but I also think it should be possible to criticize the AVGN show, the movie or James. Of course always with well thought out and legit points and respect. But unfortunately most people don't seem to be able to do that, and if someone actually writes something that makes sense, they get murdered by an army of so called "fanboys" (Damn, I really tried to avoid this word).
@cachinstrattons Calm down man. Your intense defense of the nerd doesn't help anyone. And even if you don't agree with Kevin, there is no need to freak out and insult.

This was the first time I was really disappointed of an AVGN episode. At the beginning I would have rated every AVGN episode at least an 8/10, but all the episodes since Day Dreaming Davey only around 4-6/10.
The episodes of 2011 seem to lack the intensity as well as creativity. It's still nice to see the AVGN, but it's nowhere as good as the older episdoes. Maybe he was already busy with preparations for the movie.
I'm really looking forward to the movie and hope that the AVGN will be back full force. :-)

@Taitter I think you're generalizing too much here. It's not like everyone in born in 78/79 is humming Mario 8bit tracks and everyone else doesn't. It's pretty difficult to actually hum these tracks anyway. XD
@metalcommand Agreed XD
@Taitter I was born in 1982 but I have never ever even thought about humming any 8-bit tracks. O_o
Nice so see such a big answer to all the questions. Also, no need to apologize, I was actually surprised to see an answer so soon after that long road trip. :-)
I have to say I was rather critical when you suddenly "came out of nowhere". I'm glad to see your answer showed that the timing of your appearance was well thought out. I was also surprised to learn what an important role you have behind the scenes. I don't have any experience of how to make videos like James does. So it's always interesting to see how much work there really is in all these videos and the page. I'm glad that you, James and all the others working on cinemassacre are such a great team. :-)
I'm looking forward to read more of your articles.

@metalcommand I've seen a lot of your posts lately, and I mostly agree with what you say, also with the answers to all the haters showing up here. But somehow it made me think you see yourself as some kind of "defender of the Nerd/cinemassacre). XD In my opinion these morons should just be ignored. All they want is attention so they can cause even more trouble when someone responds to the crap they post.
@Freaknut@SeanCushman Honestly, I think it' is just you. Can you quote at least one sentence, where he is aggressive?
2 years, 6 months ago on Nerd up!
@metalcommand@Negri Why does everyone always think that people are jealous as soon as someone writes one little sentence that might crticize James Rolfe? I don't really agree with what Negri wrote, since James doesn't take anyone's money, but critizing James seems to be impossible.

2 years, 6 months ago on Nerd Log - Packing Stuff
@Starone56 Well, the thing is that most people have a very stereotype and simple picture of Gamers. Most people think a (white) gamer is a loser single, nerdy, etc and that he only attracts the exact same people. I'm glad James proved that wrong, since he is the oposite of the examples I mentioned. But most people seem to think that only white male gamers visite cinemasscare, which is not true. Since Mrs. Nerd mentioned all the shows and then added the lack of diversity I came to think that she feels there should not only be white people working on this site. (I could be wrong here). But if it's like this it "can" be problematic. Since it would be forced. You can't just come out of nowhere what Mrs. Nerd did from our point of view and say the page needs this and that. As I mentioned in other posts it is like a process, imo you can't/shouldn't "make" the page diverse it becomes diverse in a long process. There might only be white guys working on cinemassacre but the fans sure are from all over the world. For example I know James Rolfe fans from China, Japan, Indonesia, Europe Northern and South America. James' work is great and his sense of humor is universal, everyone can enjoy his work.
Hey Mike, nice to see you in the video. *waves* (^_^)/
James, it's nice you are giving something back to the fans that donated. It shows us even more that you really care about fans. But if you take some items to sign and send them to the fans, you shouldn't describe them as "bunch of crap". XD
@mamajamma21 @BobWalsh I totally agree with you guys. I wrote something similar like 500 posts ago. :-) There is no need to "force" anything. James is awesome, there are people (male and female) from all over the world who love his work.
@MECHAGARY I think they are some bored morons who are seeking attention. Since they have no talent to do something creative (like James for example) they insult others and cause trouble. It's (almost) impossible to prevent that from happening. I think the best thing is to completely ignore them. (Yes, I know it's sometimes hard to do that, but imo it's the best thing we can do.)
Why did you write: "Yes, James is married.* shock, horror, surprise, fainting, screams, sighs, pants-shitting, mass hysteria ensues* the interwebs explode* dust clears, life goes on…"?
James is 30 or 31, isn't he? It's normal to be married at that age (at least where I live). XD
@KenPostnikoff Good question, I would also know the answer to this one.
@MECHAGARY and thank you for reading and the response. :-)
You want diversity, and other perspectives on all this. That's nice, but there are two problems imo.
First, James' work is very personal even now with the page being more than a one man show. Videos like "The Dragon in my dreams" show an important part in the life of James . But even the AVGN show has a big autobiographical touch. The line between the AVGN and James is very thin. He might be an artist and entertainer, but the videos are about "his" views, his joy and frustration about the games. It’s often difficult to tell if the emotions are real or if he is acting. To me his work is like a documentary about great childhood in the 80s with him as the poster child. I don't want to be disrespectful but in my opinion cinemassacre and James' work doesn't need another perpective. It's too personal "too James" for that.
The second point is diversity. It is like a natural process. James is getting more and more famous and thus the page is attracting a lot more people. Fans send the links around the world. You don't have to try to attract specific groups of people. James is a great entertainer, and a charismatic and friendly guy. With that he will automatically draw the attention of fans both male and female from all over the world.
I'm happy that you support James and I'm looking forward to what you have to say. But I also felt like mentioning my concern as a long time fan.
What did your parents think/feel when they first met James? And what did they say when they heard him swearing for the first time?
@DanielAmaral If there was a Nerd Jr. Mike would have to leave :-(
@atari2600a Not sure where you live, but the "gamer girls" I know are quite normal and would never sleep with everybody. Maybe you should go live in some other place. O_o
Are you two ever going to be parents eventhough as a "mother" you would be a target for Mike? :-/

It's ok that you finished the Bible Game series. But I have to be honest here. This is the first AVGN video that I really found bad. (Not power glove bad, but still bad) Several times in the video you say "I showed you this and that" "you have seen this in the last BG video". Yes, I know I have seen it, as a long time fan I'm watching AVGN episodes almost every day. I'm still looking forward to new AVGN videos, but if you are too busy please take even more time. I don't mind waiting for months as long as the quality is good.

I'm glad he answered the question about the AVGN series. When I first heard about the AVGN film I was happy to hear that he would still make an AVGN video every now and then. Although I soon got very disapointed, the quality went down the drain. Of course as fans we are used to the very high quality of the old(er) videos but the latest video Bible Games 3 is really bad (imo) not only compared to the old videos. I understand that the AVGN means a lot to James and I absolutely respect that, but I really hope he takes even more time for the next video even if it means that we have to wait a few months.

I can understand people who don't like this game. It really has a crazy difficulty. I always loved to play it as a kid. I always looked at it as the "ultimate Double Dragon challenge". I really like the glitch videos. Mike does a great job here, good to see him with his own video series. This bill is one of the worst ideas ever. Game reviews, film reviews, play through videos and much more actually help companies and are kinda like free advertisement. I bought countless, films, games and CDs because I watched reviews by fans who spend a lot of time and show great dedication in presenting the material to others. I'm not an American, I live in Europe, is there anything people from outside the US can do something to help?
