What is with the 5 possibles as guards/wings?  We need a big.  A solid, rebounding big that can score on a more-than-rare basis.

Why is that a flagrant?  If you've got the ball and swing your elbows and hit someone in the face, isn't that normally just an offensive foul?  Perk was just clearing space after the rebound.  (This is without addressing the flop).

With all the talk about coaches (Mike Brown fired) and the hatred of Brooks by many, do people here have any preferences about who they'd like to replace Brooks (if they could)?

I'm still curious about the Kendrick Perkins thing...but not whether we should have amnestied him to keep Harden.

What I'm sure others have probably already wondered on the board, is if we were willing to trade Harden for some young guns, a temporary SG, and picks, could we not have packaged him with Perk to go after a better starting C?

1 year, 10 months ago on Five leftover questions from the Harden saga

Is it still ok - post trade - to refer to Hasheem Thabeet as a "low risk, high reward"  player?  He's bumped up to backup center (that is, if we play small ball and Nick takes that spot).  It seems if Thabeet does flop, he could have  much larger negative impact on our success than if he were the 3rd or 4th string backup.

1 year, 10 months ago on In Presti we trust, or at Bennett we jeer?

@kdub  @justin_mia  @ou_sas Part of me thinks we keep Martin for the season, but we do something with the picks to try to get a cheap backup center that is marginally better than Thabeet

@justin_mia I am waiting to see if we pick up another big... people on the board were quick to point out our plethora of wings, and that it seems like we're poised to make a play for a big.  I'll judge the quality of this trade when it seems clear we're done making moves for the season.

The trade wasn't all bad, sure.  But, we should all be cautious for the future.

@rednuht @Bsooreal @Jooseppi @Eggs_Benedict I get that a lot of it has to do with the advertisements, and I agree with Jooseppi that improving the end of the games is worth a look.  In that regard (and this is represented a little in the article), basketball would be served to make the game 'smoother.'  Eliminate some of the tv timeouts or improve the flow of the game in crunchtime, sure.

But, toward the end of the article, he mentions actually making regulation shorter (from 48 to 40 minutes, like college or the Olympics)...no thank you!  The more basketball the happier I'll be.

1 year, 10 months ago on Thursday Bolts - 10.18.12

RE: the idea to shorten games..

Do they really need to be shortened?  If I remember correctly, of the 'major' sports in the US, basketball is on average the shortest of them all.

Pair that with the fact that because there is constant 'action' in basketball for every second of the 48 minutes of regulation, basketball fans get a very high proportion of basketball action viewed for total time spent watching...as opposed to say something like football, which seems longer but on average we only get 12 minutes per game of actual football 'action.'

Thabeet, you need to learn to not foul the entire time.  If you get on the court during a legit game that isn't garbage time, stay in front of your man, stay on your feet and just stand straight up.  Please?

@Godofserenity  @Eggs_Benedict  @justin_mia I don't think anyone expressing apprehension regarding the possible alternative jerseys would disagree with you.  Of course the actual basketball is more important than the logo/jersey design.  That being said...the the thread is about the possible alt. jerseys.

As an aside, I do realize that success plays just as much (if not more) into brand development than the actual logos and whatnot.  But, I think as a NEW team, the thunder design could have been improved by being able to instantly recognizable as the Thunder without needing 'OKC' or 'THUNDER' plastered on or above the logo.

1 year, 10 months ago on NBA 2K13 leaks the Thunder’s new alternate jersey?

Reply

@justin_mia I agree.  I love the Thunder, but to be completely honest, I was never that big of a fan of the logo.  I could go on a rant about things that I think the could improve with the logo, but suffice it to say, (if these are actually the alternate jerseys) that OKC management may be having difficulty finding 'alternate' jerseys to a logo or design that kind of is nondescript.
