@David Repas Agree - Apps are the new Widgets kind of like the Internet is the new CD ROM.
I was at WidgetCON in 2007 in NYC, which was pretty much the Woodstock of the Widget movement. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1FNVnimpg4
@bravadowaffle Well said - this is the theory that scares me the most...
@ganeumann @AndresBlank I would definitely say that curing disease and increasing birth rates and life expectancy are definitely signs of being "smarter." But it seems like a lot of those lifts came in the last century, and we may have ironically peaked and are declining during the explosion in technology and information access.
@AndresBlank I think of it more along lines of things like graduation rates, our standing in the world in education, and general perception of whether we seem smarter or not. If you told America in the 1950's that the future wasn't flying cars but that everyone would have all the world's information at their fingertips, and a computer in their pocket, etc. - don't you think they'd expect to see more results and benefits from that? @ganeumann
tomloverro I saw that too and didn't think about the irony - you're right. I do think there's a good chance that Apple will do the right thing and take a leadership role in cleaning it up.
L1AD I would agree with that - I think it covers food for sure but also several more levels, as do a number of the other companies. Thanks, Chris
Alex Wagenheimbhalliburton I'm about 40 hours into Omnifocus and quite impressed. thanks very much for the tip BH.
bhalliburton I'll check that out - thanks!
Yep I saw that - smart move on their part for sure. I wear it all day but use it mostly to wake up and track sleep, and I'm keeping mine.... buzz411
AAinslie I think that quote came from nealmohan so maybe he can add his thoughts here. I'm not sure - it's a big number even at half that.
dherman76 agree - bridging the online/offline gap is the next big thing - in TV and elsewhere. It's starting to happen.
testing out comments, will be looking for feedback from joshk
