@Tvaddic Good thing the legal process is so streamlined.   There are no excessive motions or delays.  Should be done by the time the Clippers have forfeited the season and price of the team has dropped by half.

Zach Lowe of Grantland:

The union actually views the Huestis move as an example of player empowerment that could have major long-term implications. “This is an example of the player flipping the script,” says Ron Klempner, the interim executive director of the union. “The player essentially drafted his team.”

@AronZoltanLaszik The simple fact is - there aren't enough good players for 30 teams.   You gotta have "stars" to fill the seats and you can't afford to lose the player most recognizable for your franchise.

The more concentrated talent flows to only the "haves" vs "have nots" the more the lessor teams just have to bite the bullet and overpay for anyone they can get.

@Tvaddic Durant has more sweat equity involved in the Thunder and Oklahoma than he can have for any other team unless he stays there the rest of his career.   Its far more fulfilling for him to take a team from zero to champions.

Roster is space is valuable and if you could expand your team to have several extra players (you are developing using your resources) you can bring in if something happens - that's a huge advantage.

I am open minded. I think both ways could work out for them but there's huge risk throwing everything to get Love.

The question I would ask the Cavs GM is: What is the future plan:  While Lebron is there? After Lebron is gone?  If you don't have any forward thinking its going to cause future disappointment.   Once you added Lebron back you can't tank anymore - you aren't getting future high lottery picks unless they come from another team.  How are you going improve further if Love Lebron Irving are not enough win a championship?

There’s another caveat to all this, though, and that’s the hit bringing on Kevin Love would have on the salary cap. Love is set to make $16.7 million next season, and with that the front office would have a much harder time building up the rest of their roster. Wiggins, however, is expected to sign a deal worth $5-$6 million in his first season, leaving plenty of room for the team to sign another free agent to a lucrative contract or even a handful of role players. The Cavaliers will have some tough decisions to make eventually, such as when Wiggins’ rookie contract expires, but they have time to iron out those wrinkles and, most importantly, plenty of flexibility to make it work.

@dollarbillrussell @Old Man Game @qrex Most players don't even want to play defense - its rare to even find guys committed to that side of the floor.

@Old Man Game @dollarbillrussell @qrex They wanted exactly what I felt we needed in 2012 - Lots of defenders we can throw out there at moments notice to try to wear out the oppositions best players.    We had freaking Harden guarding Lebron. I would rather have two guys who want to give it there all doing the job than using up Durant.

The consideration that is lost maybe we don't need top grade talent that is going to run off for the next big check but reliable defenders that are in the long term plan.
