@silentkman  @smonroe Cool, my main focus wasnt Reed, thought it was clear that it was Levitre.

I dont think Reed will be expensive like others think so if that's the case, no problem with adding him to go cause some turnovers.

Best thing to happen to the Colts is the Bills franchising Byrd, opening the door for Andy Levitre to leave.  We add him as a Guard to the O-Line and you go cheaper/short term with Ed Reed at Safety.

What we dont know is if Grigson tried to get Jean-Baptiste as an UDFA and missed out to the Ravens so he signed Anunoby instead.  I'll assume that this was the case and I'm very happy with the move since I wanted them to draft him.

perfect use of the roster spot - young guy, some upside, big, if he can focus on just shooting instead of trying to live up to where he was drafted, we might get a great return on investment

@Devin Kharpertian Pretty clear when I said I knew he said this before we loaded up.  It was also pretty clear changes were coming to the team.  Hope he goes to the Knicks so he can be part of the second best team in NY.

Since I dont think Delfino will sign for the vets minimum, the best player that could is Josh Howard and he's supposedly considering the Nets.  That'd be a good signing.

I know he said this before we had all this talent but:

“If I were him, I would stay," Tracy McGrady said of Magic center Dwight Howard. “Where’s he going to go? Why do you want to go to New Jersey, go to Brooklyn? Look at their team."

That's still fresh in my mind, Tracy.  Stay away.

I feel like Shelden makes sense in a limited role but also Kenyon...he's perfect just for his trash talking.  I can imagine him already getting in Melo/Amare's face and them backing down like some scared little puppy.  He can go block a shot or slam down a dunk.  While his energy might sometimes be negative (hothead) I think he has a role on this team.

@jtshoopsblog The point of the article isnt that the Nets dont *need* a backup C for Brook, it's that the Nets already have a backup C in Hump.  It'd be a small lineup with Hump at C but Crash, Mirza and Evans can cover the PF minutes (+ Kirilenko if he really signs which isnt likely).  Avery also already said Mirza will get minutes at the 4 & 5.

The point is that giving Brook's minutes if he's out to one of the garbage players available isnt really the best option since you can give minutes to Hump at the 5.

I wouldnt mind signing some of the bigs mentioned to play 6-8 minutes a game if it's Darko or Oden or signing a young big to develop like Jerome Jordan or Whiteside who are both young.  But the point is that if Brook is out, Hump should be in.  If Hump is out, there's Mirza.  If both are out, we brought the bad luck with us from Jersey.

Haddadi might be worse than Petro.  Seriously.

Oden?  Sure why not.  If you really want a BIG big then go for potential.  Milicic would be next on my list from the ones that are realistic (Robin Lopez isnt a realistic option).

I understand the post is about NOT needing any of the guys I mentioned - which is well written and makes a good point - but lets be realistic, odds are Billy will sign a "7 footer".

Is Jeff Foote worth a spot?  I could only catch limited minutes of him in the summer league but didnt look awesome to me...thoughts? anyone?

Good good.   Obvious move taking advantage of his Bird rights.  Also, while he's being overpaid, it's not a long term deal so it's a win-win for both player and team.

Now, Nazr Mohammed, really? Heh.

@Vin I like Randolph too...but if we were still the same old decrepit non-playoff Nets.  Talented kid but he just doesnt have the motor/bball IQ.  He's bounced around the league for a reason.  Someone else will give him a chance but his career path is looking eerily similar to Gerald Green's: bounce around the league based on your potential, out of the league, prove yourself in NBDL, someone gives him a chance.

Stack wont get significant minutes and is probably more of a coach than a player at this point anyway.  "Veteran presence".

Still wondering who we end up as the backup center.  Gotta be someone who can play decent minutes so we dont run Brook into the ground, right?

and the Nets have arguably the best (healthy) player from all the teams you mentioned (Sixers, Wiz, Celtics, Bulls) in Deron.  They added Joe Johnson.  They'll have Gerald Wallace for more than 15 games.  They'll have Brook Lopez for more than 5 games.  They might bring back their double-double machine in Hump.  They have Mirza and Marshon on the bench.  Just signed the backup that started for the Bulls when "they played well without Rose" and added toughness and rebounding help inside with Reggie Evans.

@jtshoopsblog The Bulls without Rose are not better.  If you wanna say the Celtics are better because they almost got to the finals, ok.  The pacers are not *clearly* better than the Nets.  The Sixers didnt get better.  The Wizards, sure, Okafor and Ariza will get them to the playoffs.

Like I said, wide open behind the Heat.

@jtshoopsblog but seriously, who in the East - other than Miami - is hands down better than the Nets right now?  I understand we havent seen them play together but the East is wide open behind the Heat.

The Knicks have awful ownership/management.  If anything, the Nets will be the Knicks' hot ass sister.

I just, I love it.  I like Brook Lopez.  He's a young center with a great offensive game who CAN rebound if not for an all out ball hog in Humphries playing next to him.  If he gets 20 pts with 8 rebs Im happy - and its something hes done before.

I like keeping MarShon and having some fresh legs and energy coming off the bench.  I like keeping the picks for future possible deals.

The core is locked for 4 years which is great in the sense that Wallace might be done so he comes off the roster, Joe Johnson will be what, 35?  He might get what the Celts were gonna offer Ray Allen - 2 years/12 million or he leaves.  That's almost 35-40 million off the cap if those 2 leave.  Would still probably have DWill/Brook/MarShon and Brooklyn which would all be enticing to FAs.  Also Bogdanovic and Toko will eventually come with cheap contracts.

I'm pretty fucking happy and I know Billy and Bobby are still working to make this team even better.

Is that Billy leaning over making sure Deron is actually signing his name and not punking him? lol
