I hope it starts raining soon. I'm still coughing up dust from yesterday.

I thought there was some gauge that is scaled to work best in the low PSI ranges (20-40psi)??? Anyone know of that one?

Any insights in using a lubricant inside the cable housing? I still do it every once and a while cleaning my bike but I think it might make the cable housing dirtier and stickier.

Molly, what is it that you would want in a women's specific cyclocross bike? Contrary to popular belief, men and women have the same leg to torso length ratios on average.

"However, anthropometric data show that women do not have proportionally longer legs than men, if anything they have slightly shorter legs, in particular after puberty (Eveleth & Tanner, 1976; Martin & Nguyen, 2004; Sorokowski & Pawlowski, 2008)."

@RealityMonster Yeah, if there were to be only one slogan to summarize diet and weight loss I guess I could get behind it being "calories in - calories out". I think the whole story is much more interesting though and am eager to continue following the scientific journey as researchers try to find a successful and easily maintained weight loss plan. I don't mean to prevent anyone from trying diets but the data on weight loss attempts is kind of damning. Weight Watchers has the largest data set and it covers a long period of time also; they've seen an 85-90% failure rate to loose or keep off the weight (I don't have the source for that but am pretty confident in the numbers). Thankfully for most of the folks who are reading this though, they are physically active (at least part of the year) and are likely to have or make friends with people who are also active and who live pretty healthy lives. From what I've seen so far in the scientific literature, the best thing you can do to loose weight and get healthier is to become friends with skinnier and healthier people.A big part of me doesn't want to believe it that is that hard to lose weight though. I hope that because we are a competitive cycling crowd and we're use to the pain of sprint intervals that we are able to practice the self control to get to our desired weights and stay there. Since we are a cycling group I don't think we would still have that 85% failure rate. Personally, I have a super hard time staying below 195 lbs and my desired weight is 180 lbs (I'm 6'2). The good news is that this is year I get there and stay there.

@RealityMonster I believe that thermodynamics doesn't lie but our poop doesn't turn into ashes... There are still tons of calories that could have been taken out of it. When he talks about going into starvation mode, he's talking about our bodies starting to become better at extracting calories from our food. If you continue to make yourself feel really hungry you start off the hormonal response to be more calorie efficient. Sure, if you continue to stay in a diet that has less calories in it you will lose weight. But it comes at a cost. It can drive you crazy until you just start drinking bottles of olive oil and chocolate syrup (just kidding, kinda). But, this is why most people end up gaining weight after attempting a diet. So I think on a practical level it isn't just about calories in calories out, there are caveats and ways of doing it happily.

In my opinion, Cyclocross Magazine is doing a better job than anyone else in promoting women in sports. It's nice to see women kicking ass and competing.

I can't believe I nearly bought a winter commuter bike from CycleLoft this weekend. I'm finding a smaller and more local shop.

How much cafe late goes in a 33 mm cx tire? What do I do after the 2-7 months? Do I drain them and deflate them till next year when the season is over? Are you going to mention how very toxic aquaseal is? This isn't Twitter, feel free to write a full article.
