Guess that means we won't be resigning Cabrera...

Talking to LA fans and Frattin played even worse then what Clarkson did last year... yet ppl put him on the second line. Why? Frattin has more to prove then Clarkson who has proven he can be a big contributor on a team and IMO will bounce back and have a great year.
Best one was the text convo with Getzlaf... so good

@Greg Fenton @MaxwellHowe
If Hamilton can replace Chara you say? You are very quick to put down some of our players... like Kessel but you're okay in stating that Hamilton can replace Chara? lol

@DeclanK @GreekGod @Cameron19 @MaxwellHowe
It was sarcasm... in response to the number of Leaf fans that seem to think we need to pay more or that our prospects are never as good as other teams.
yes but we're the Leafs... we have to overpay to get players in trades
Exactly. There were so many on here blaming only Carlyle and his stupid system for our team's terrible play last season and especially down the stretch. Giving the players a pass. Which to me was crazy... Even though I do blame Carlyle and his system I also blamed 90% of the players for clearly showing no compete.
So does that mean he'll be our new number 1 C...?
JVR - Tanenbaum - Kessel

Don't give up the faith just yet... they still have Snow as GM
I agree. But the team is also pissed at how Thorton handles himself when the team needs him the most. But then again, he's been playing in SJ long enough that they knew who they were signing an extension to and what he brought. He can put up points but when the going gets tough, Thorton tends to not rise up to the occasion.
@deedrag @Greg Fenton
Nope... TFC and the Raps needed more help then the Leafs. Lie was correct in saying this.
@Jordan29 @GreekGod @ProfessorRance @MaxwellHowe @Burtonboy
That's right let's bring in a player that when his team needs him the most he sits on the fucking bench and stares blankly onto the ice. Don't believe me? Ask any SJ fan that has had to put up with it every playoff appearance.

@ProfessorRance @MaxwellHowe @Burtonboy
No thanks to Thorton
@Greg Fenton @Walter_White @Xxxxxnew
ummm pretty sure the core of what Burke brought in is still here and they are our future moving forward. Talking about Kessel, JVR, Kadri, Gardiner, Rielly, Phaneuf and that doesn't include some solid prospects who are starting to move up on the depth chart.
JVR - O'Rielly - Kessel
Kane - Kadri - Nylander

I hear ya man... Thing is, Durant was quoted as saying that his favourite team growing up was the Raptors because of Vince Carter and the uniforms. His dream was to play for the Raptors. He even said he loves this city. Hopefully Masai can continue to push this team forward and Drake continues to work on Durant :)
1 week, 5 days ago on Maple Leafs sign William Nylander to three-year entry level contract
No question on Masai... Drake's job is helping in pumping out the Raptor brand. The guy brings Kevin Durant to Toronto and gets the crowd at his concert to cheer his name in hopes that he will become a Rap when he hits UFA in a couple of years. Whether it works or not is irrelevant because it got quite a few sports radio stations talking about the Raps and could they bring in Durant. Musai is doing his job with the team on the court and Drake is doing his job on the market
@vinoa @ingy56 @MaxwellHowe
Thing is, that's actually helped the Raps a lot.
Yea, not a big fan of this swapping back and forth between threads to find people...
1 week, 6 days ago on Friday Mashup: Second Assistant GM Hire to Come Next Week
Franson couldn't handle top 4 minutes... no way he can handle top 2. Even if you distribute the minutes out more evenly, it's fair to assume that Phaneuf will see other team's top line. If Franson is still on this team coming opening game, he should be put on the bottom pairing where he can actually make a positive difference.
I can't stand there starting pitching. It's killing them.

@Cameron19 @GreekGod @Pent_House @loomx @Xxxxxnew
Leafs don't care about a 1 year contract status though. If they did, they would have sent Morgan back down to the O last year. If Nylander has a good training camp and proves to be close, then the AHL is the best option for him to continue to grow as a player... He will also be close to the Leafs and can be called upon in case of injuries to players like Lupul.
@Pent_House @loomx @Xxxxxnew
Nylander already stated that he will play where the Leafs think is best for him. AHL makes the most sense.
@The_Polish_Cannon @GreekGod @loomx
Yea, but he's already stated that he will play where the Leafs think it's best for him. AHL makes the most sense I would have to assume.
2 weeks, 3 days ago on Wednesday Mashup: Wake me up when it’s hockey season
Got a feeling Nylander really impresses in camp but will be sent to the AHL to get better adjusted to the NHL game. This will also keep him close for callups... you know, for when Lupul gets injured.... again....
Did I miss something??? what challenge?
2 weeks, 6 days ago on Friday Mashup: The Swarm & Coaching Duties
@Cameron19 @GreekGod @loomx @Jay_Berg
It's not about the points with Kadri and Lupul. It's about the number of times Lupul was a ghost and relied on Kadri to get him going. I think Lupul's style fits best with Kessel and we've already seen how well those two work together.
He's a problem when it comes to that line and if you expect it to be consistent over the course of a season. I'd put him up with Kessel again.
Lupul is the problem with that line. He's very inconsistent and it rubs off on Kadri. Put JVR there...
@Greg Fenton @Cameron19
Haha that's Andrew R territory...
@Greg Fenton @Mind Bomb @Burtonboy @GreekGod @bear19 @Cameron19 @jbman5
Really? Guess you don't watch much of LA, Chicago, and Boston games... Players on those teams are very quick to point out how important there bottom 6 players are to their teams. Describe them as the engine. And you can see it when you watch them play.
EDIT: We saw what Komarov alone did for us a couple years ago. Now imagine what a properly built bottom 6 can do for you.
@Mind Bomb @Greg Fenton @bear19 @Cameron19 @jbman5
CBJ's coach said last year the skill that Kadri possess only a handful of players in the NHL have it. So I agree with you that his heart is the only thing is question... when he plays with it, he's truly a difference maker in the game. And looks unstoppable.
@Greg Fenton @Jay_Berg
Practically everyone on the team last year refused to go into the corners and drive hard to the net... How's that good? What did being able to skate fast do for us? Clarkson will bounce back because we have more guys that are willing to play his sort of style this year. And I think we'll all see better possession as well because of it.
Jays played a great game. CJ blew it at the very end.
3 weeks, 1 day ago on Friday Mashup: The Swarm & Coaching Duties
Casey J blew it. Jays played a great game though
3 weeks, 2 days ago on Friday Mashup: The Swarm & Coaching Duties
Yup... but over the course of the year, Lupul was extremely inconsistent and it rubbed off on Kadri. It's not about the points with these two. It's about showing up to play. Kadri needs line mates that are consistent in there game.
3 weeks, 6 days ago on Friday Mashup: We’re Gonna Need a Montage
Guess that means we should expect the unfair handing of suspensions to our players to continue...?
4 weeks ago on Friday Mashup: We’re Gonna Need a Montage
Problem with Kadri isn't the points... it's his consistency. He's still young but this is his biggest hurdle in my opinion.
1 month ago on Jake Gardiner talks contract with Greg Brady
Shanahan made it clear that the way Carlyle did things is gone. He wants a new system and for ice time to be distributed better between the top 4 lines.
I think I heard Nonis say they want Jake and Morgan to take steps forward this year and that Gardiner will be given a chance with Phaneuf...
@ingy56 @GreekGod @docmma @-Keon
Bolland also has two stanley cup rings. What does he need to play for now? A sports analyst said it best, the smartest thing for Bolland to do this summer is to take the most amount of money and ride off into the sunset. And that's exactly what he did
@Greg Fenton @GreekGod @ingy56 @docmma @-Keon
Yup but when you could have the possibility of adding Stamkos and Tavares as your top two centres you can afford to give up guys like kadri, Lupul with prospects and a pick.
because they suck and they would rather get something for Tavares then lose him for nothing
Sign Stamkos and Subban you then have Kadri, Lupul and prospects to give for Tavaras
@Cameron19 @GreekGod @ingy56 @docmma @-Keon
New cap system is in place now to avoid those 13 year deals. Plus Leafs have the money to give those players signing bonuses.
@ingy56 @docmma @-Keon
Suter and Parise to Minnesota was a prime example that players talk and want to play for their home towns. Doesn't seem so farfetched that Stamkos, Tavares and Subban could be doing the same thing...
@Burtonboy @dlb Mad @docmma
I'm pretty sure the entire coaching staff was at fault...
Yes Clarkson struggled but it didn't help that Kadri and Lupul were very inconsistent last year.
Nope never said that. But I did see plenty of times JVR and Lupul standing around and not engaging the puck along the boards. Consistency and hard work was our biggest problems last year from the players. The coaches shit the bed period.
1 month ago on Brendan Shanahan Addresses Depth, Not Core of Toronto Maple Leafs
Problems started from day one though. Players wouldn't go into the corners nor battle along the boards. As I said, no excuses for the players, I blame the players and the coaches :)
