Good article, and 100% spot on.
What's crazy about this team is that it's hard to gauge how they're actually doing. They could ride a long winning streak into the playoffs (assuming Howard stays) and then get dumped on by the Hawks again. They could also limp in and somehow flip the switch and win games. Strange team.

I also like the feature. I love ratings, but I hate the Heat, so, you can imagine the pickle I was in before. Can't wait to see some round table discussions.

@erivera7 Yah, watching this game, I think it's pretty much clear that you're right. I recant my hopeful statements.

That's fair. I'm admittedly kind of blindly optimistic because I don't want to have to sell all my Magic gear and become a Grizzlies fan.
Otis Smith obviously made some boneheaded moves last season, but I actually don't mind what he's done in this off-season. Davis is not an upgrade, agreed, but he's someone Dwight wants on the team. Regardless of what's actually going on in his head (because obviously he's hiding a lot of what he really thinks) Dwight has proven to be, if nothing else, a very emotional individual prone to thinking with his gut. If Davis really is important to him, it's a good move. Even if he's not, it's not by any means a large downgrade. It's a very slight one, especially if Von Wafer pans out. The J Rich contract is a bad gamble only if Dwight leaves, but if the Magic can churn out enough productivity this season to convince Dwight to stay it's not an awful move. J Rich's contract is actually pretty reasonable, and sure, he's going to get older, but if we make a deep playoff run this season, something like the finals, I honestly believe Dwight resigns. As for the rest of the off-season acquisition, Orton's healthy, Harper's got potential, we have Ryan Anderson and JJ Redick coming off our bench .. I don't know, I'm just not seeing the abject panic most of ESPN and Brian Schmitz seem to see. My biggest concern is Hedo 'Pizza and a Nap' Turkoglu. Otherwise, sure, the pieces are not ideal, but they're here. When this team goes out and gives 100% it's got the tools to win games and really, isn't that what Dwight is in theory looking for? A team that wants go out and win?
While a terrible move, I kind of have to respect a guy real enough to get drunk and basically dial his girlfriend, begging him not to leave, hah.
