The Brewers have had games not televised for years.  Their deal with Fox Sports Wisconsin has long been antiquated and isn't up for awhile.

Biggest loser out of all of this?  Bill Macatee.

Last year of the US Open on CBS and is now out of the NFL rotation.  Where does that leave him...the PGA?  He's not on college hoops that I can recall.  Big shame, I've always liked Macatee.  But unless I'm missing something, he's doing nothing but Tennis Channel and occasional golf tournaments.

Marv and Kerr took FOREVER to notice the clock didn't start.  I was floored it took them as long as it did or no one in the truck alerted them.  I think the previous opinions of those two clouded this review of them, because it took far, far too long.

And to be frank, the best call of the tournament for me so far was Catalon's call of SFA's four-point play.

Putting her in an event hosting role should have been the plan to start.  I liked her on the Triple Crown coverage quite a bit, it allowed her to showcase all sides of her but do it in a way where she didn't need to be the focal point.  I also liked her a lot with the Olympics coverage.

Putting her on NHL or Notre Dame coverage probably would have been a good way to go.

One thing I've noticed about FS Live so far is that they seem to be putting the biggest stories on first.  Last night, Pirates-Reds WAS the top story, Josh Freeman was next, then hockey.  Monday, FS Live led with Rays-Rangers (top story), while Sportscenter led with MNF (not the top story)

People have talked about putting the SNF postgame on NBCSN.  No brainer.  Same goes for Sunday NHL games.

Blackhawks and Wings just had one of the best games of the year, but no postgame coverage since NBC had to get to golf.  I think you would have gotten some carry over for interview, analysis, etc.

I was floored they didn't go after MLB any harder.  That seemed like a no brainer.  Even a weeknight or Sunday afternoon package, at least it's another one of the big four you can claim.

Here's another one: how about NBC losing Wimbledon to ESPN?  Wimbledon was fine with putting the entire tournament on cable television.  How good would that two weeks look on NBCSN?  And it's amazing they didn't consider that when working out the new French Open contract.  I know tennis certainly won't save it, but that would have been two marquee sports events on their network.

This business, now more than ever, is cutthroat.  With your competitors ganging up to keep you down, seems pretty simple now.  You have to overpay.  It sucks, but it's gonna have to happen if you want any shot.

Oversold the gravity of it?  In the heat of the moment, you're not factoring in the season before it.  It was a halfcourt buzzer beater to win a game.

It's amazing how overlooked Ian Eagle on nearly every job he has.  The only place he's the number one guy at is with the Nets.  Doesn't get March Madness duties, NBA playoffs, NFL playoffs, and he's number two for the US Open.

On the same point, add Bill Macatee to the CBS sports broadcasting depth.

But the championship didn't really come down to the last race.  It would have taken a miracle for Johnson to win, whereas last year Edwards and Stewart was as close as you could get.

DD1070 makes a good point, too.  The iconic tracks need the stage at the end, even if Miami offers maybe the purest racing track on the circuit.

I will say that even with Dick Stockton, I've enjoyed TBS's broadcasters for the playoffs, even if the production is a bit off.

Just backing up what RobHoffmann said, I would for an ESPN Radio affiliate and there are many events that we choose not to air because they are on Alternate Channels.  There's a Main Channel, then Alternate Channels.  I would envision USC football being on a Alternate Channel that is available to all if they want it.  But affiliates won't be forced to broadcast them.

In my eyes, the biggest problem they made was creating a "30 For 30" brand instead of trying "ESPN Films" to start.  They should have launched ESPN Films to begin, and if fans responded to it well, launched the 30 for 30 as a special program presented by ESPN Films.  But that's beside the point now, I guess.

And while they have been terrific films, I'll throw this out there.  Our biggest quibble with ESPN is how they've essentially forgone being a news outlet and opted to go the entertainment route instead.  Should ESPN put a bunch of resources into something that takes even more away from what they should be?

Overreaction to say the least. NBCSN does have time to develop what it wants to be, which is why it's not further away from being a threat to ESPN than 12 months ago. This wasn't just a name change, it was a format change, one that's going to take time to develop and grow.

Anyone expecting an immediate impact were kidding themselves.

Couldn't disagree with the article more. Why butt the entire regular season against the NFL, NBA, NHL and EPL when you can do the vast majority of it against regular season baseball?

Taking a break in the middle of the season because of winter? Any idea how unpredictable winters are? We had our first legit snowfall here in Chicago last week after having a mild December. No one predicted that. So asking schedule makers to predict when to take a break is a terrible idea.

The hope isn't to have people tune in to the playoffs yet. People need to tune into the regular season games first, develop ties and fandoms to teams throughout the season, then follow it into the postseason. Their contract with NBCSN is about growing the league as a whole, not making people tune in to the gimmick at the end of the year. That's one of the biggest problems with college basketball. No one gives a crap about the season, just the tournament. That's not what the MLS needs.

@HalfFast@gecarragher Agreed. The best job by a broadcast team all year. It wasn't just the announcement they had to make, it was a good two hours of airtime they had to be on the air to do...something. And to do it with such class and dignity, and above all else, keep their composure throughout when it would have been so easy to let emotion take over. And the kicker, the complete silence during the five-lap tribute was absolutely perfect.

A stellar job by those three and by ABC to do everything perfect when they knew the world was watching.

@rdmtimp I've grown more and more tired of Gus Johnson as the years have gone on, personally. I think the key word you mention there is "manufactured." To me, it sounds like he really does ramp up his enthusiasm because people expect him to. He does sound real in the big moments of games, but there's no reason for a six-yard run up the middle to cause Gus to shoot his wad.

Meanwhile, the four behind Gus are perfect at knowing when to raise their voice, show inflection and tell you "Hey, this is a big moment you're watching."
