I understand why the move had to be made but it still sucks that a guy who gave everything for the team and literally put his body on the line every night ends up being too much of a liability for the future and then can't get the contract he deserved for all he has done...its such a crappy part of hockey and happens to a lot of guys....so with that all I'll say is I'm gonna genuinely miss watching Ryan Callahan play for my beloved Rangers and wish him the best wherever he ends up whether in Tampa or elsewhere...and a win tonight (especially with a St Louis goal or two) will really hep ease the blow.....LETS FUCKING GO RANGERS!

I understand the frustration...and have always said 7/7 is out of control....I just think Cally brings a lot that would suck to lose...there's a reason we all loved him for years.....all the guys who are saying we need guys to go to the net, hard on the forecheck, throw a hit, Cally does that plus play pp/pk and can chip in 20-25 goals...Imagine how you're gonna feel when that is gone and we end up paying 7 mil for stastny as a FA who never scored 30 either who is slightly older than Cally, also hasn't played a full season since his 1st year.... When he turns out to be a bust too....or we get Chris Stewart who hasn't even hit 20 goals in like 5 years..... Or ales hemsky ....this season took the whole team to adjust to av's game and I feel Cally fits just needs a chance but he missed a little time..... I don't think he's declining at the rate some people think but I can understand the concern.....it sucks hard it happened during his contract year and this didn't get done earlier...even worse it happened in the media which makes it 10x worse

I think the biggest problem with the fans here and the Cally situation and why the people who would like to see Cally back are so adamant about it is the knee jerk reactions to EVERYTHING.....oh we lost a few games at the beginning....fire av! He sucks!...oh were in 2nd place....av is just what we need!....hank wants how much? Trade him start cam!....oh hank signed and we started winning?....king hank! Oh we beat Chicago....cup run!....lost 2 over the weekend....were doomed! Lol....I get it....we are a very PASSIONATE fan base....we care....we love our team....we love our players....there are legitimate arguments to say we should trade Cally or he's not worth 6 mil....but saying fuck him and he sucks is discrediting all the great things he's done for years for this team, which is why we are even debating this like raving lunatics these last few weeks....cause he has done so much for this team....he is a big part of why this team has been making the playoffs year after year when the 10 years before that we were the laughing stock of the league....we all have different opinions and its a VERY tough situation......but to marginalize Cally and say he sucks is flat out wrong and disrespectful to one of the key players that helped turn our beloved team around after a long time of being terrible...not mediocre...but pure terrible hockey.....so please....no matter if you want him to stay or thinkbits in our best interest to be traded...show a little respect for all the years this guy gave the rangers as one of the hardest working players we've seen in a long long time....with that...LETS GO RANGERS!

Not saying Cally should get 7/7 I agree that's too much....but anyone who wants to sign stastny for 7 mil over Cally for 6 is insane
1 week ago on Rangers Willing to Go to Six Years With Callahan As Suitors Dwindle
The same people who think Cally isn't worth 6 mil want to sign Paul stastny for 7 mil in FA or think Cally for Chris Stewart straight up would be a good deal....lol
I haven't seen anything official saying 6/6....I just checked and the latest I see is 6/5....not that that is official either it was brooksie but I think dreger was saying the same thing...but that's the point we don't really know what is actually happening its still all speculation...7/7 is too much I agree and have said it numerous times....if there really is a 6/6 he should take it....other than that nothing left to do but sit back and wait for something to happen....
1 week, 2 days ago on Callahan's Agent Says Asking Price Is Discount; Two Sides to Meet This Week
Take it easy there Skippy no need to start calling people dumb....as for saying Cally has no skill I must disagree with you...guys with no skill don't score 25 goals a season...guys with no skill don't play both the pp and pk....guys with no skill dont get named captain of an original six team and lead them to the ECF for the first time in 18 years or whatever in his first season as captain....he's one of the best grinding forwards in the entire league...He's also been top 3 in scoring for the rangers three years in a row.....he doesn't have the skill of those top guys like a Crosby, ovi, Kane etc.....and I've said numerous times 7/7 is too much for him so I agree what he's asking is too much....but to say the guy has no skill is just wrong
But right now Cally's pending UFA status makes him severely undervalued in teams knocking on the door at this second....it doesn't mean plenty of coaches and GMs wouldn't LOVE to have Cally and you better believe they would...but why give up a roster player now for a rental when things have gone into the media that he's looking for a big time contract and he could just walk....thus no security....I agree that 7mil for 7 years is too much....but I think if he was signed in his first year of a 6/6 deal or something and was being "offered" then teams would be lining up for him right now...but that's not exactly the case...just sounds like he wants to test free agency and let the market value him
Also id think if hank was realistically being offered at the deadline and wasn't signed and pending UFA and all these talks of how much he wants, not only wouldn't there be many teams knocking either, everyone would be saying trade him get a younger goalie who's decent and costs half as much plus a pick
1 week, 3 days ago on Callahan's Agent Says Asking Price Is Discount; Two Sides to Meet This Week
Very very true....just think bueller and myself were trying to make the point those comparisons can go both ways since so many people were comparing his demands to contracts that only support their argument but ignore all the other contracts that don't support their argument
I got ya but I disagree...I think Cally could be a centerpiece for a team...he just brings so much and is exactly the kind of player any coach would love to have in their lineup...and he's such an important part of the team look at how crazy the last few weeks have been and how rabid the fan base is when discussing him...but I can certainly see where you're coming from and I agree 7m for 7 years is too much but I'd be happy with 6 for 6 personally and think he is worth that
Cally is easily worth 6 mil and I for one think he still has a good 5 years....6 for 6 I think would be a great deal...his injury history isn't that bad (no concussions) and are mostly broken bones from blocked shots...he also comes back from injury faster than most players...he's on of if not the best grinding forward in the game today...he is a top 6 forward (stop calling him a 3rd liner people!) Who can also play pp and pk...I do t get how people are so damn quick to run him out of town like this...sayi g he's worth no more than 4.5.....that's less than he makes now! To say he doesn't deserve a raise and actually deserves a pay cut is absurd....
Let's not forget clarkson at 7 years just north of 5 mil and he only had 1 good year...and Ryane clowe, who I like as a player, gets 5 years around 5 mil and also never hit 30 goals and has a worse injury history than Cally (concussions way worse than occasional broken bone from a blocked shot....then gets ANOTHER concussion right at the beginning of this season....)
How is Cally not a franchise player? Besides being the captain of an original six team, he is #6 on 2013 most purchased jersey in the whole NHL...ahead of lundqvist.....not sure what your definition of franchise player is but when people are buying his jersey more than anyone else on the team and more than 95% of any players in the NHL, he is a face of the franchise....
Is rather have Cally than vanek...I'd rather keep the 25 goal scorer who brings so much more than the supposed 30 goal scorer (who hasn't even done that in a few years) who is notoriously lazy on defense...to the extent I saw some sabres fans saying how glad they were he is gone and called him a "lazy cancer"....certainly can't say that about cally
St Louis the player...not the team
1 week, 5 days ago on Boomer Esiason Hints At Potentially Imminent Trade ; Let's Speculate
everyone seems to have no problem pointing fingers at Cally saying he's being greedy, but how about we look at some of these ridiculous contracts that were given out this past summer by these idiot GMs...Clarkson gets 7 years ~5 mil and he couldnt sniff Cally's jock strap...he had 1 good season and he got locked up long term...and he's older....Ryane Clowe, while I think hes a great player, gets 5 years ~5 mil, after 3 concussions in one year, has similar points to Cally, except penalty min which he has almost 3x as much and he is 2 or 3 years older....then gets injured again right in the beginning of the season....even Dustin Brown gets 8 years -6 mil and he only has 150 more career points in over 250 more career games....oh yea hes a year older than Cally too...so how can you blame the guy for seeking a comparable deal? He's younger than all these guys, his injuries are nowhere as severe as someone like Clowe's (concussions much different than a broken bone) plus when Cally gets injured he ALWAYS comes back sooner....plus, considering all the bitching Ranger fans did this season about how this team is soft and no one throws a hit and blah blah blah, now you wanna get rid of the ONE guy who never stops and always throws his body around, quite effectively i might add? 6 years ~6 mil is TOTALLY fair for Cally and he deserves it. If theres anyone to blame its these GMs who hand out monster contracts to players who either dont deserve it (Clarkson), have WAY worse injury history than Cally (Clowe) or is a very similar player (Brown), but nobody here seems to think his contract is outrageous (perhaps cause we're not kings fans we dont really care...but be objective)

@Ted Kazimiroff who? Nash? Pouliot? Miller?
if you mean Nash then you're just wrong....led the team in goals last season and hasnt even had a chance yet this season, but still had 3 points in 2 games....how is that a big fat 0? there is no way ANY team in the NHL is better off w/o Rick Nash...he is a game changer and an elite player who can single-handedly win a game for his team
3 months, 2 weeks ago on Nash Returns Tonight; MIller Scratched
couldnt agree with you more kevin...excited that nash is back and really looking forward to seeing what he can do under AV now that the team seems to be finding ways to generate offense even without him (well maybe not so much the last few games)....but im concerned about him coming back for such an undoubtedly physical game tonight....also miller, IMO (and probably everyone elses opinion too lol), has been playing better than pouliot and has more of a physical edge so sitting miller seems strange...and like you said id rather see him go back to hartford if hes gotta be the one to get scratched so at least he gets to play and keep developing...after all he is only 20 years old and clearly needs a bit more time to really find his game (which has definitely been coming along considering his age...hes close but just not quite 100% there yet)...as for del zotto, glad he's scratched another game....falk may not be anything special, but if he can hold the point and throw a hit or two, he's already more valuable to us than DZ, especially with Mac building his offensive game we dont necessarily need another offensive Dman....just someone who will play a simple game and make less mistakes
@Say my Name @StAlphonso Thanks! Good to be here!
3 months, 3 weeks ago on Rangers Fall Late to Devils 3-2
Been lurking for a while finally decided was time to contribute.
Felt the Rangers played a good game last night. They had tons of chances and even though they're still making some mistakes, they are often finding ways to correct them. This one comes to down to a bad bounce and a rare soft goal by Hank, but it happens. Also the usual sub-par officiating. Still not sure how Zuccarello got a penalty for getting punched in the head by Brodeur and then getting put in a headlock. Did he interfere with the goalie before that? I don't know didn't look like interference to me. Also, Stepan getting cross-checked right in front of the net did not elicit any response from the refs. I still think if we were playing anybody but Brodeur we would've won. But to be fair it was a weird night for the league in general. Winnipeg beat Detroit at the Joe, Carolina beat Colorado, Buffalo beat LA and Florida beat Anaheim. Maybe it was a full moon or something lol. Anyway I'm finally feeling like they can be a consistent team and If they keep
it up like this the whole season they'll be playoff bound for sure.
Nice recap, although you wrote Marc Staal got his first goal of the season, but it's actually his second. He scored the first goal of the season!
