You make a great point....But this is what HB 553 in TX is all about. We have to get our State to pass this type of Legistlation in order for our local law enforement to have a leg to stand on when and if the SWAT teams of the ATF come. We have to have the backing of our State Government willing to defend our Freedoms as individuals in order to have legitimate standing... or we will all end up like the people in Waco. Individuals have to have the backing and support of a government entity inorder to effectivly combat tyranny.....even if that means having to forma new goverment that will do it.... ie...the Confederate States, or the Republic of Texas...all legitamatly formed Governments. At this point the State of Texas will do....as long as they are willing to support and defend its citizenery againsta tyranical Federal Government.

I have watched the morning news shows this weekend...I foud no one one on the political center or right defending the 2nd Amendment. When asked about "armor piercing Bullets, multiple round magazines, etc... all you could here is stutters and and talking around the issue. Why can't anyone speak to what the 2nd Amendment was created for and defend it for God sakes!!!!!

The State level is where it is supposed to be fixed....The States are the only way to effectively defend the Constitution.
This is exactly what is supposed to happen.... Everyone needs to remember that the Militia is a function of the States, and a well armed Militia is the citizenery of each State...to protect its self from a Tyranical Federal Government. As I tell people...what part of "...shall not be infringed." do they not understand?
"....Texas Our Texas all hale the mighty State..." or in the famous line from my ancestors.....
COME AND TAKE IT
I would even make the case that under the Supremacy Clause that State and Local governmants shall not infringe on that right!!!

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
I heard a guy the other day explain it as clearly and consicely as I have ever heard....( The Militia is the reason for the Amendment, but clearly the right to bear arms was reserved to the people or individual. The Founders clearly thought that the right to bear arms was a Natural Right, and the Constitution was a limiting document on the government power. As I ask people all the time...What part of SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED do you not understand?

I agree with you on Scalia. We must be careful not to mis-quote or vilify our allies. We will lose credibility that way. Now....I'm not saying that Scalia is infalable, we need to keep our eye on our friends as well, but we must be sure not to take them out of context.

Agreed.... The people that created the dependence in which we are trying to escape from would figure out that WE the producers of this country, the risk takers, the ones who get up everday and are productive citizens, theones that are leaving..... they would say..."Hey.... we cant do this without y'all" And that when it would all hit the fan

@Rae Liera The problem today is if we had a Constitution Convention with the entire United States being represented, you would end up with a much worse document than we have now. We as "Tenthers" have been way out numbered, hence the problems we face today. The establishment controls both parties and as such would control the Delegates to the Convention. Now if you want to speak to a Convention as part of a Seccession movement...you might on to something...but as history shows... they probably would not let that happen peaceably.
