Maria has a virus and may lose her match to Caroline Garcia tomorrow.
Dimitrov can never win a major nor can Thiem, they are just fancy players.

@colin561 Yes, I believe that to be the reason why BZS gave the look to Venus. And I find it funny all the posters below fighting over who has better sportsmanship. Venus was probably lost in her hard fought victory and it didnt register to her that the loser should shake the umpire's hand first and was moving ahead of BZS, but Venus did let her opponent shake hands with umpire first. Venus and BZS are both great sportsperson. But Venus without a doubt, no one in the history of WTA can match, NO ONE.

Well she has managed well so far. And it should be ok for her after all She is a fighter at the end of the day

Maria has lost to Serena 17 times. People keep highlighting this. But as Maria said that she reaches that stage where she keeps meeting Serena, and that's great in itself. How many players can say that they have met Serena so many times in their career. I think Venus is the only player
But I don't find it embarrassing for Maria to lose against Serena. I mean seriously Vika, Na and Petra have terrible record against Serena at majors and outside as well.
Serena is the best player ever. She started competing against Vicario, Seles, Graf then moved on to henin, clijsters and Venus and now playing against Maria, Vika, Petra and twinkies. Love her <3

Great match. 40+ winners by both of them and only 20 or so unforced errors. Maria surprisingly hit less double faults. Only 3 If I'm not wrong. That helped her stick around in the match.
In the second set Maria was playing catch up to Serena, never had the chance to take a lead.
Congrats to Serena!!! 19th major and counting. And my first prediction of the year has come true.
Maria won't win a major this year, it's an odd year
Who was the last player to beat Serena and gone on to win a major title? Was it stosur?
@mamiejane @sk310 @mentalest_mentalist Haha!! Like beating Kvitova or any big players guarantees a major title. you just cracked me up

So we have 4 top 10 players in the bottom half playing in the quarters and only one Serena Williams in the top half, well talk about cup cake draw.

Congrats Madison! She is playing her game confodently and didnt let beating a higher ranked player affect her in this 4th round match.
I'll be conflicted in Quarters, whether to support Vee or Maddie. All I hope for is a great match :)

On slow hard courts Simona is at her absolute best. Maria won't go past semis against simona. I personally would be surprised.

Man! Talk about sour grapes. So much whining. Everybody has to beat players in front of them. Thats it!
I see Serena and Simona as favorites
Interesting quarters between Maria and genie. But I give an upper hand to Maria, this match will be on her racquet. Let's see what she decides to do.
Happy to see Rafa do well. Although I'm a big fan of Rog, I still like how Rafa rebounds from injuries with grit and determination.
Halep and makarova won't be that fun. I'll assume makarova will be choking
Hope Murray wins :)
@Allinthetoss @face it But he was right about BOuchard, I had my doubts, but he was right

@Sherry D @Silver Shadow got it! Alize or Domi!! I mean thats super dangerous than Garbine!!!
@Sherry D @Silver Shadow Oh thank you for the correction! then who is playing Vika in the 4th round?
I I'm not wrong there are 6 or 7 american women left in the draw and only one Betthanie in the bottom half, rest all are in the top half

@mamiejane @jewelry5800 Navratilova would have rather climbed Kilimanjaro than be her coach and snooze to death.
@Genetica97 I hope she goes all the way, beating Serena/Kvitova/Maria or Halep
Now that would be mind blowing
@aa1704 Caro surprisingly played a bit more aggressive. She was trying to go for lines, and going for a bit too much and ended up missing a lot more than usual. Vika was unbelieveable. She was so good at the net and baseline. she had some misses which is undserstandable given her long absence from tour, but otherwise fantastic!
And people were crying before that Serena had a tough draw.
Vika is playing amazing, I cant believe I missed her until I saw her play today. It was a treat. But her work is far from done.
1st round: Sloane
SF: Mostly Kvitova
I mean if she wins this title. I would say she is the best player at the moment!
@Jewell @Silver Shadow @jdlewis haha!

@RogerKing4Ever who cares.
@jdlewis Smyyczek was class, not your dig on Maria
@tennis32801 yea!! tired of Harrison, Young, Isner, who think they are entitled or something and act like brats. Smyczek is a breath of fresh air!! Hope the Americans learn from him
@Robinhood733 Too bad your pathetic comments would be seen a little while longer, coz Maria will be winning a couple more rounds for sure

phew! Maria gave me minor attacks when she was down 1-4 in the third set and was facing 2 match points. But she pulled it out majestically. Lets hope she goes further now that she has survived a major scare or will it be like last year when she survived Knapp and lost in 4th round
@TennisLady7 Yes, coz match points are the only time when her opponents notice her grunts and not when comfortably leading 4-1 in the third set
good news!! They should focus on Singles, especially Venus, who needs to conserve her energy

Panova is leading 4-1 against Maria in the 3rd and final set. Knew it, Maira would not be winning any major in an odd year

Andy is a great guy. He even showed up at WTF finals when the final was cancelled.
Marinko sounds good too :)
Hope they indeed have a "'ripper". But advantage Murray!

I was right about Rafa beating slumping Youzhny convincingly. Rafa will at least reach quarters and then you never know.

@Rafessi I'm ok with upsets as long as they are not my favorites :D
@Davineaux89 @Silver Shadow @lexxlutz well, I personally feel Genie, Petra and Maria were never really at YEC. And dont get me wrong, Ana has tools to beat Genie any given day, but she doesnt have the mentality to hang with Genie
@GeraldineCowden I think its good for Serena if she is away from limelight at AO. She can continue with her business without being bothered.
@Davineaux89 @lexxlutz umm, doesn Genie have a 2-1 record against Ana?
the highest seed to depart in mens draw is 15th seed Robredo. He retired in the first set
I think, in all 5 seeds are out in womens draw so far
@14Juillet what about Thomas Hogstedt?

the only thing I feel that won't work for Maria, is that its in an odd year. She has won majors in 2004, 2006, 2008, 2012 and 2014. So I don't believe its Maria's year
Favorites to win the title
1. Serena(I don't believe in her loses at Perth, she is well rested and ready to go for #19)
2. Maria ( I personally feel she is in better form than she was in 2014, she actually volleyed and sliced in her matches at Brisbane)
3. Halep ( Slow AO courts will help her, and right draw can take her to the title)
4. Petra (She may be finally ready to taste success outside UK)
5. Ana (If everyone falls, she may very well storm to the title)
6. Wozniacki (her counterpunching skills can certainly take her to quarters, but beyond that she may need some magic)
7. Venus( Whats wrong in wishing? She has the potential and you never know :) )
I would be surprised if anyone outside of these would win AO 2015
